This Dog Saved His Deaf 13-Year-Old Owner From A House Fire

by 43 mins ago

An Indianapolis pit bull named Ace has officially become a hero! The AP reports that the dog saved his 13-year-old deaf owner, Nick Lamb, by licking his face repeatedly until he woke up.

“My dog licked my face and woke me up, I was like, ‘Stop it! What? You want to be fed?’” Lamb said. “I thought he wanted to be fed or go outside. I couldn’t hear anything because I had my cochlear implants off [but] my dog Ace smelled it. I just wanted to get out.”

Lamb was home alone at the time of the fire, and was sleeping without his hearing aids, so odds are he probably wouldn’t have heard the commotion until it was too late. After Ace woke him up, Lamb escaped the house by covering his face with his shirt. He even managed to grab one of his hearing aids on the rush out the door —- but no shoes!

Proceeding to call his mother and 911, Lamb, who was born deaf, told firefighters that he had just returned from summer camp three days prior. This was the first summer he’d been deemed old enough by his mother, Lindsay Bernard, to stay home alone. His mother credited Ace for saving her son’s life.

“It’s amazing, because if he wouldn’t have been there, he probably wouldn’t have even woke up,” she said. Watch a video of Nick and his mother discussing the fire below. All in all, the fire is estimated to have caused ...

Lana Del Rey And Brian Wilson Are A Sad Song Dream Team

by 28 mins ago

Legendary Beach Boys producer Brian Wilson is teaming up with a whole team of pop stars for his brand-new album. When the Beach Boys reunion that began in 2012 was called off due to internal conflict, it looked like Wilson might shelve his new material.

It was a shock,” Wilson told Rolling Stone. “I was so proud of how the Boys were singing. Then it just ended. I was writing for the Boys, so I thought, ‘What am I gonna do without them?’”

Instead of calling it quits altogether, he re-grouped with new collaborators. Lana Del Rey, Kacey Musgraves, Frank Ocean and Zooey Deschanel have all been in the studio with Wilson working on his as-yet untitled album. Ocean rapped on a song called “Special Love” that is still unfinished, Kacey Musgraves did three takes for “Guess You Had to Be There” and Nate Ruess of fun. is also on a track.

The Ocean track might not make the album, but Wilson loved Nate’s voice, comparing him to his brother and fellow Beach Boys member, Carl Wilson.

As for Lana? She worked with Brian on a track called “Last Song,” which will serve as the album’s centerpiece. There’s a version with Wilson on lead vocals, and an alternate one with Del Rey as the primary vocalist. Wilson wrote the song about his sadness over the Beach Boys’ breakup.

Brian, we love you, but we’re rooting for Lana’s version! That kind of celebrity sadness seems ...

The ‘Game of Thrones’ Theme Song Gets The Royal Treatment

by 27 mins ago

Yes, “Game of Thrones” is a show that focuses on medieval royalty in a mythical, fictional kingdom. But that doesn’t mean that the hit show hasn’t found fans in IRL royalty—or at least, the royal guards!

A Reddit user posted this video of the Queen’s Guards in London performing the show’s theme song, and the live, dramatic rendition is enough to excite casual watchers and super fans alike.

The guards surprised the crowd outside of Buckingham Palace during the changing of the guards, and even if the in-person cheers were few and far between, The Internet as a collective is sure to go wild when they hear this.

HBO, have you heard this? Might be good to use in Season 5, just saying!

Is Punk Dead? Probably, Because Etsy Is Selling A Punk Rock Starter Kit

by 11 mins ago

There’s nothing punks hate more than inauthenticity. People that don’t fully buy-in to the punk ethos, or who don’t follow specific punk rules are immediately shunned as #posers by true punks. But now, even posers can blend in and rage against the machine with these handmade items!

Seriously, when punks get a load of this Punk Starter Kit on Etsy, they’re probably going to have a cow. A punk cow. With a studded bracelet. It’s basically the opposite of everything the punk lifestyle stands for—including the fact that it’s on the notoriously cutesy, girly site Etsy.

Here’s an excerpt from the post on Etsy:
“Did you recently see some punks at the mall, thought they looked sick and want to join the freak show?”

Is “freak show” really the appropriate label to use as a marketing tool here?

The post continues:
“Well now you can with the kit that has everything you need for the other punks to stop calling you a poser.”

Yes, because clothes, patches and spikes are all it takes to transform from a suburban Spice Girls stan into an avid Sex Pistols fan.

Here’s verbatim what the kit includes:
- Bootstrap studded with small (your’re just starting out) 77 cone studs
-Bondage belt
-Studded bracelet with bondage wring
-Studded wristband
-Totalitar and Varukers patches
-Mystery goody!

Oooooh wonder what the mystery goody is? Could it be a book about anarchy? A Sid Vicious poster embedded with tiny, handmade spikes? But wait, there’s another extra that this Etsy user has included as an added bonus…

Bask In ’90s Awkwardness With These ‘Whoa!’-Worthy Forgotten ‘Blossom’ Moments

by 1 min ago

“Blossom” fans, this one’s for you. Today, we spotted a classic behind-the-scenes clip from the ’90s sitcom staple: Joey Lawrence — better known as Blossom’s lovably dim-witted brother, Joey Russo — coaching his younger brother and mini-me stand-in Matthew Lawrence on his signature “whoa!” catchphrase.

Which, of course, led us down a black hole of “Blossom” clips on YouTube. Enjoy the #ThrowbackThursday behind-the-scenes moment and two other “Whoa!”-worthy moments from the show.

1. Joey Lawrence Help His Little Brother Master ‘Whoa!’ Catchphrase

Matthew can’t quite pull it off like Joey does, and watching him struggle to master his brother’s effortless mono-syllabic phrase is almost as adorable as when Joey steps in to help him. The brothers are well-known for their loving relationship, and apparently, it goes way back; Matthew appeared on “Blossom” several times to play “Young Joey,” and this particular clip is taken from the episode “This Old House” which will air July 24 on Hub Network, in case you track that sorta thing.

2. Blossom Jumps Up And Down And Screams While Meeting Will Smith In An Elevator

Everybody’s dream celebrity crush during the Blossom era was the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, a.k.a Will Smith… a.k.a… Joe Piscopo? In the clip, Smith tells Blossom that he used the popular SNL comedian’s name for his hotel alias—a nice inside joke for audiences at the time.

3. Blossom Has An Extremely Awkward Make-Out Sesh With Johnny Galecki TKTK

Although he’s now a member of “The Big Bang Theory” cast, Johnny Galecki ...

These Eighth Graders Just Scored A $1.7 Million Record Deal

by 36 mins ago

Most eighth graders are trying to navigate their way through hormones and junior high drama. But for Malcolm Brickhouse, 13, Alec Atkins, 13, and Jarad Dawkins, 12 of the metal trio Unlocking The Truth, bigger concerns are on the horizon. Namely, the six album record deal that they just signed with Sony, oh, and traveling America on the Warped Tour.

Though they’re not even in high school yet, the three Brooklyn kids won over some major fans just by busking around the city. Eric Clapton’s drummer Steve Jordan discovered them playing in Washington Square Park back in 2012.

Since then, the boys have opened for Guns N’ Roses, played Coachella and landed this record deal.

Sony has confirmed a two album contract with the trio, including an option for four more records. The advance for their first record is $60,000—which is a whopping amount of money for a 12-year-old even when it’s split three ways.

“It’s so exciting. We’re jumping over the moon,” Jarad’s mother Tabatha Dawkins told the New York Daily News. “What started out as play dates went to Times Square and now this. It’s been one great thing after another.”

There are already plans for the boys to write a book about their rise to fame; it will be released through Penguin around Christmas. A documentary about the group is also in the works. Clearly, this is an act we’re going to be hearing a lot more from in the future.

Guitarist Malcom, bassist Alec and drummer Jarad all share ...

Watch This Little Boy Serves Up The ‘Bad Romance’ Dance With Fearless Abandon

by 2 hours ago

Remember being a kid and feeling the freedom to do whatever the hell you wanted? Back before anyone told you it was uncool or stupid to just clamber up on a stage and passionately dance to your favorite song?

You know, the time before society had told you that popstars make patently “girl”-centric music, or before you’d ever heard anyone make fun of someone else for dancing on their own?

Well this little kid is still living in those moments of freedom. His passionate, epic dancing to Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” reminds all of us to be bold and celebrate what we love with fearless devotion. And he flawlessly nails the spirit of the original dance’s choreography.

If only we could all stay this carefree. This kid is the best Little Monster of them all.

Jay Electronica Brought Out Jay Z At The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival

by 35 mins ago

When the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival gave Jay Electronica an hour long set, fans were thinking one thing: who will he bring out? And the New Orelans rapper delivered, bringing out Mac Miller early in his set for “Suplexes Inside of Complexes and Duplexes.”

Then, he upped the ante by bringing out J.Cole and Talib Kweli for Reflection Eternal’s collaborative song “Just Begun” off 2010′s Revolutions per Minute.

But, what everyone was really counting on was a Jay Z appearance. The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival was celebrating its 10th anniversary, and there’s no one who represents those two things better than Jay Electronica’s Roc Nation boss Jay Z. Since HOV was already in town for his “On The Run” tour with Beyonce later that night, he managed to stop by Jay Elect’s set and perform a few classic hits.

When Jay Z hit the stage, they kicked off with “Young, Gifted, & Black,” and transitioned into “We Made It (Freestyle),” and followed that up with and “Shiny Suit Theory” and “Public Service Announcement.” Before he left, Jay Z shouted out Brooklyn saying “Peace and love Brooklyn New York City! It feels good to be home!” and gave Jay Electronica his Five-Percent Nation chain.

Selena Gomez Slams Fan For Bullying In Instagram Comment

by 49 mins ago

Selena Gomez is mostly known for being sweet. Hey, even her character in “Spring Breakers” was the one that got too scared of the Florida underground and went home. But she was pushed a little too far by a comment on her Instagram.

Although the original comment has been deleted along with the user’s account, it clearly had something to do with cancer—and it crossed a line for Selena. The singer took a screenshot of what she wrote to the user, and posted that as a separate Instagram photo.

Selena captioned the photo with the following: “Honestly, I don’t speak up much because it’s simply *always* taken out of context. But I don’t take bullying well. I have seen too much to not say anything.” Especially in the realm of her relationship with Justin Bieber, Selena’s smallest moves are scrutinized.

RELATED: This Is Why Selena Gomez Is More Than Her Relationship

But standing up for herself and for others battling cancer definitely seemed like the right move in this case.

She wrote that the user’s comments about cancer was “absurd” and explained that it really hit home for her as she’s gone through that struggle before with her friends and fans. But ever classy, she ended the note by urging the commenter to educate herself more about the issue and be better. She ended on a positive note writing “you’re beautiful.”

Anyone who comments on an artist’s Instagram at all knows just how dark the internet can become. ...
