This ‘Stretch’ Trailer Is Headed To Crazy Town, And Patrick Wilson Is Driving

by 19 mins ago

Leave it to “A-Team” and “Smokin’ Aces” director Joe Carnahan to take a simple premise and turn it into a wild, adrenaline-infused whirlwind.

We’re talking, specifically, about the trailer for his upcoming film “Stretch,” starring Patrick Wilson as a limo driver wrenched from his mundane life by the desperate need to pay off $6,000 in gambling debts in one day.

The movie is giving us a total “After Hours” vibe – Wilson’s search for cash starts with a seemingly benign suggestion from a pal (played by Jessica Alba): drive a “completely nuts” billionaire named Roger Caros (Chris Pine), who tips in the thousands.

His quest devolves into a nightmare of drugs, guns, murder, stolen vehicles and similar mayhem. Look, if the dude you’re driving doesn’t know who Charlie Sheen is…you can bet he’s pretty nuts by comparison.

“Stretch” hits Amazon and iTunes on October 7 and VOD on October 14.

Robin Williams Mourned By Friends And Family In Private Memorial Ceremony

by 13 mins ago

It’s been a month and a half since the world lost Robin Williams, and – though we’re all still collectively grieving – Williams’ friends and family had yet to gather in remembrance of the beloved actor and comedian – until yesterday.

Hundreds of guests amassed to pay their respects at a private memorial – held at the Curran Theater in San Fransicso – on Saturday (September 27) afternoon. Attendees included Williams’ wife and three children, as well as a massive roster of celebrities – Bette Midler, Lance Armstrong, George Lucas, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Eddie Izzard, Josh Groban and Ben Stiller, just to name a few.

Stevie Wonder provided musical accompaniment to the celebration of Williams’ life, Billy Crystal gave a speech (based on his Emmy tribute, we imagine it was a tear-jerker), and so did Whoopi Goldberg (again, all the Kleenex), Bobcat Goldthwait and Bonnie Hunt.

“Whoopi told an amazing anecdote about when Billy, Robin and she went to Washington D.C. to meet Ted Kennedy. It was something about Robin saying, ‘Okay, if Ted says he’ll drive, let’s regroup,’” a source told the New York Daily News, adding, “Whoopi could barely get through it she was laughing so hard.”

Williams died on August 11 as a result of asphyxiation. His death was ruled a suicide, and his wife later divulged that was suffering from depression and early onset Parkinson’s Disease. According to his death certificate, Williams was cremated and his ...

‘True Detective’ Season 2 Officially Has Its Lead

by 27 mins ago

Conclude your meme games, people – #TrueDetectiveSeason2 has its new lead: Colin Farrell!

The actor confirmed that he’ll be starring in the second season of the hit HBO series while speaking with the Sunday World. “I’m doing the second series,” he said. “I’m so excited.”

This culminates a months-long whirlwind of cast rumors, which most recently included Rosario Dawson and Jessica Biel – though it’s possible they’re in the running as his co-partners. Because what is a true detective if not a two-way battering ram for writer Nic Pizzolatto’s mind-bending banter?

Farrell and the rest of his yet-to-be-announced cast will be true detecting all up in your eyeballs next summer. Time may be a flat circle, but production schedules are Carcosa-esque tangles.

Watch This Man Remain Impossibly Zen While Being Attacked By A Swan

by 1 min ago

Whether partaking in a ‘Game of Thrones’-themed attack or destroying an attempted selfie, it’s clear that swans make a habit of being poised at all times to create mischief for us humans – to hilarious effect.

This latest entry in the centuries-long bird-versus-biped battle really ups the ante – it pits a wildlife rescuer against a protective daddy swan. Wildlife Aid Foundation released a video of employee Simon attempting to rescue a trapped cygnet (that’s baby swan, to you) from a fence while concurrently staving off the little one’s irate dad.

What’s most amazing about this video (aside from the fact that OMG SWANS ARE TERRIFYING) is Simon’s impossibly cool, calm, collected demeanor as he’s being beat up by a massive bird (seriously, look at the wingspan on this thing – it’s the length of an adult human’s body!)

Watch the full video, and bask in Simon’s zen-like glow. From approaching the situation with a casual, “Alright, this is where I’ll likely get attacked,” to wagging his finger and chastising, “Don’t be silly” as the swan batters his arm and hisses at him, to chanting, “There’s a good boy” as he staves off an attack while attempting to return the rescued baby to its father.

Someone get the UN on the horn – we’re pretty sure Simon could negotiate world peace.

James Franco and Seth Rogen Are Delightfully Crude In ‘The Interview’ Red Band Trailer

by 12 mins ago

What, you thought the guys who brought you “This Is The End” and “Neighbors” were going to leave it at one tame (albeit super funny) trailer back in June? Ye of little faith!

Obviously a film starring James Franco and Seth Rogen is going to be chock full of crude humor, so it’s all too fitting that “The Interview” just received the red band trailer treatment.

Behold: Franco and Rogen, basking in their success as tabloid reporters – covering everything from Rob Lowe’s severely receding hairline to Matthew McConaughey‘s illicit trysts with farm animals to Nicki Minaj‘s peek-a-boo nether regions – until they’re invited to interview North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

We probably could’ve done with roughly 10% less discussion about Franco’s smelly genitals, but we still laughed. A lot. (And what’s up with that puppy rescue shot at the 2:23 mark? WE MUST KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS PLOT LINE.)

You’ll have to wait until Christmas to witness the full-circle story behind that “weapon of ass destruction,” but that just means you’ve got four months to get that dirty McConaughey hashtag trending!

Gentlemen: Emma Watson Needs Your Help To Fight Gender Inequality

by 4 mins ago

Ladies have some pretty powerful allies on their side these days – from Taylor Swift to Beyonce to recently-appointed UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson. The Brown University graduate hasn’t wasted any time settling into her role – she’s already launched a new gender equality campaign.

Watson debuted “HeForShe” – a solidarity movement aimed at mobilizing men and boys in taking steps toward gender equality – at the UN Headquarters in New York yesterday.

“It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals,” Watson explained. “We should stop defining each other by what we are not, and start defining ourselves by who we are.”

No surprise, here – Watson’s speech, which underscored the vital role men play in promoting women’s rights, earned her a standing ovation. The actress formally invited men to participate in the conversation, saying, “Gender equality is your issue, too.”

You can read a full transcript of Watson’s speech here, but we’ve pulled a few of our favorite mic drop moments:

“The more I spoke about feminism, the more I realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain is that this has to stop. For the record, feminism by definition is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of political, economic and social equality of the sexes.”

Chris Evans Is An Anti-Romance Renegade In The ‘Playing It Cool’ Trailer

by 22 mins ago

We’ve got our first glimpse at a very different side of Chris Evans – not that we’re complaining, because Chris Evans clearly doesn’t have a bad side – it’s just a little jarring to see the “Captain America” and “Avengers” actor decidedly lacking superhero decorum in the trailer for his upcoming film “Playing It Cool.”

Evans plays a pessimistic writer who doesn’t believe in love, until he meets a gorgeous – and very engaged – stranger (Michelle Monaghan). The plight to deny his overwhelming romantic urges involves friends and coworkers – a cast of hilarious characters played by Aubrey Plaza, Luke Wilson, Anthony Mackie and Topher Grace.

The tone of the anti-rom-com can best be summed up with Evans’ wryly-uttered line, “I’m willing to regret you for the rest of my life” – and we think the sentiment is as funny as it is refreshing. “Playing It Cool” doesn’t have an official release date yet, but we’re looking forward to being roundabout charmed by this one.

This ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Writer Divorced Her Husband For An Actress On The Show

by 12 mins ago

One “Orange is the New Black” writer has taken the show’s themes to heart. Literally.

Lauren Morelli recently filed for divorce from her husband of two years after penning Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex’s (Laura Prepon) relationship helped her realize she’s a lesbian. Through her writing, Morelli said, “I found a mouthpiece for my own desires and a glimmer of what my future could look like.”

The divorce, filed jointly, is said to be amicable. And the serendipity doesn’t stop at life imitating art on the page – Morelli found her next love right on set. She’s now dating Samira Wiley, who plays Poussey on the hit Netflix show.

Check out the gorgeous couple en route to the Emmys, via Morelli’s Instagram account.

For her part, Morelli is taking the (very public) transition in trademark hilarious stride.

I guess life does imitate art!

Lady Antebellum Soundtracks All Our Feels With This ‘Best of Me’ Music Video

by 8 mins ago

We’ve already been gifted two swoon-filled trailers for upcoming big-screen Nicholas Sparks adaptation ‘The Best of Me’ – but Lady Antebellum is here to remind us that two is never, ever enough.

The band’s new video for the song “I Did With You” – which is featured on the film’s soundtrack – is essentially the next best thing to having the full movie in our eyeballs (soon, ya’ll – October 17 is just around the corner!)

The twang-filled, sepia-toned love song contains so many feels (and film clips!) that it’s impossible to avoid being swept up in the nostalgia cyclone twisting the past love and present heartbreak of Michelle Monaghan and James Marsden‘s characters. Don’t even try to tie those emotions down – “The Best of Me” is gonna be a bonafide category F5 tenderness tornado.

Like Lady Antebellum croons, love comes in circles.

Half Of Hollywood Was At The ‘Mayhem: Mayweather Vs. Maidana 2′ Fight

by 2 mins ago

The celebrity contingent was out in full force to watch Floyd Mayweather Jr. retain his undefeated record at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas last night. Many are hoping Mayweather’s second defeat of Argentine challenger Marcos Maidana (who he first battled last May) is one step closer to the ultimate match-up against Manny Pacquiao that boxing fans have demanded for years now.

If last night’s fight was any indication, 90% of Hollywood would flock to a Mayweather-Pacquiao battle. Here are just a few of the famous faces who cheered on Mayweather’s defeat of Maidana.

Though they shied away from red carpet photos, TMZ reports that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were in town hanging by the Hard Rock pool pre-fight. Bieber snapped a photo with Selena earlier that day…

…and then another post-game with Mayweather.
