Watch The Opening For ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show,’ Never Sleep Again

by 3 mins ago

Listen, we’re just a week away (October 8) from the premiere of “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” and pretty much everything we’ve seen from the new season of FX’s anthology show has been terrifying. It’s nothing but scary clowns and clowns with sharp teeth and Kathy Bates with a beard.

I’m starting to get the feeling that this new set of episodes might turn out freaky.

And now the opening credits have made their way online, and there are plenty of twisty stop-motion creatures to get your imagination running.

Side note: Did everyone else see the doll that has a third leg instead of genitalia. At least, it was wearing a boot. It’s the tasteful choice.

See How Jennifer Lawrence Went Blue And Back Again In ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’

by 48 mins ago

Digital Domain has released a visual effects breakdown video that demonstrates how they created some of the most amazing images in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

Related: Watch All 38 Mystique Transformations Ever In This ‘X-Men’ Supercut

Of the many effects that the video takes a closer look at, two stand out. There is, of course, Magneto’s show-stopping display with the baseball stadium (which I will never get tired of).

But then there’s also a detailed look at how the filmmakers change Jennifer Lawrence to the blue-skinned version of J-Law and back again. It’s an incredible process that gives you an appreciation for all of the wizardry on display.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” hits Blu-ray and DVD on October 14.

New ‘Exodus: Gods And Kings’ Trailer: Bible Goes Badass

by 6 mins ago

Ridley Scott’s latest swords and sandals adventure obviously has more of a Biblical bent to it than his previous journeys to the past, but until the most recent trailer, “Exodus: Gods and Kings” was looking kind of like “Gladiator 2″ starring Christian Bale.

Exodus: Gods and Kings” is a retelling (with more swords) of the story of Moses and mass evacuation of Egypt, but in this new trailer, we’re finally getting to see some of the Old Testament wrath in action. There are giant crocs eating people, locusts, and a bedroom full of frogs, which is more like a really awesome prank than a plague.

The movie also stars Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley and Aaron Paul.

“Exodus: Gods and Kings” opens in theaters on December 12.

‘Gone Girl’ Writer Reveals Which Character She Most Regretted Cutting

by 17 mins ago

As the author of a book being adapted into a movie, Gillian Flynn had the rare privilege of writing the screenplay for “Gone Girl,” but with those duties also came the responsibility of trimming the novel down.

Flynn worked with director David Fincher through the later stages of the scripts development, and even though she knew that the “Se7en” director could pull off a runtime longer than 90 minutes, there were going to have to be some cuts.

“In the process of writing the screenplay, [Fincher] said, ‘We’re going to blow it up and then winnow it back down,’” Flynn told MTV News over the phone. “The same guy [who] wants 30 takes from his actors is the same who wants to see every option for the screenplay. Then we set out to get it back down to size.”

The result is streamlined, while completely maintaining the spirit and wicked humor of the book, but Flynn admits that not every darling she was forced to kill went down easy.

“There were certain characters in the book that I loved that served very little purpose, except for being interesting, quirky cul-de-sacs that I just knew from the beginning weren’t going to make it,” Flynn said.

The character the author misses most fits that bill of entertaining — if superfluous — asides exactly. “I always loved Desi Collings’ mom,” Flynn said. “That was the thing. Everyone loves. Everyone remembers her. She’s in the book for all of four pages. I’ve always heard comments ...

Liam Neeson Kills Lots Of People In First ‘Taken 3′ Trailer

by 6 mins ago

People should know not to mess with Liam Neeson at this point, especially when he’s in Brian Mills mode for the “Taken” series. Yet, here we are again with the trailer for “Tak3n.” The bad guys still need reminding that nobody takes down the Neesons, apparently.

(And if you have forgotten about Mills’ particular set of skills, the brand new preview does that kindness of providing Forest Whitaker, who runs down a list of his abilities.)

The third (and perhaps final) “Taken” movie begins with the death of Mills’ ex-wife, played by Famke Janssen, with her murderers framing our boy for the crime. But, of course, he escapes police capture and goes on a rampage to find the people responsible.

“Tak3n” opens in theaters on January 8.

‘Magic Mike XXL’ Begins Filming: See The First Set Photos

by 6 mins ago

Did you laugh at the idea of a “Magic Mike” sequel, especially one called “Magic Mike XXL“? Well, it started filming yesterday (September 29) with the majority of the original cast reprising their roles. (I’m still upset with McConaughey.) There are also some new additions to the cast, including Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover and Amber Heard.

Some of the cast and crew celebrated the start of production by sharing the first photos from set. Channing Tatum gave us a peek into Mike’s future, following his dreams of furniture design.

Steven Soderbergh, the original film’s director and the camera operator for “XXL,” posted this shot of the first set-up, which includes a zoomed out look at the truck Tatum snapped in his pic.

I don’t think this picture from Joe Manganiello is actually a set picture, but I really hope it is.

“Magic Mike XXL” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2015.

Ben Affleck On ‘Batman V Superman’ Inspiration: ‘You Steal From The Best’

by 14 mins ago

Reporting by Josh Horowitz

Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns” forever changed the character of Batman, and that impact has been felt in nearly every film featuring the Caped Crusader. “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” just happens to pull more directly from the iconic run than others.

When we spoke with the newest Bruce Wayne, Ben Affleck, during the press day for “Gone Girl,” he explained the simple reason that director Zack Snyder is pulling some of his film’s imagery directly from Miller.

“I think if you’re smart, you steal from the best,” he said.

Back at San Diego Comic-Con, where the first footage from “Dawn of Justice” premiered, we all found out just how close the superhero meet-up would come to “The Dark Knight Rises,” and Affleck isn’t shy about admitting the source of inspiration.

“I do think Zack was heavily influenced by ['Dark Knight Returns'],” he said. “Everyone’s influenced by that. It’s the seminal work. I don’t think there’s any [Batman movies] that have been made without drawing from that book because it’s so good.”

“Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.

Walmart Says Tracy Morgan Should Have Worn A Seatbelt During Crash

by 6 mins ago

It’s been nearly four months since a six-car accident on the Jersey Turnpike left one man dead and comedian Tracy Morgan in critical condition, and now the courtroom battle over who is at fault is heating up.

Attorneys representing Morgan and three others injured in the crash questioned whether Walmart should have known that their driver Kevin Roper was “fatigued” when he caused the pile-up.

On Monday, the company responded, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with nine affirmative defenses, including that Morgan’s injuries “were caused, in whole or in part, by plaintiffs’ failure to properly wear an appropriate available seatbelt restraint device.”

Essentially, among several of Walmart’s defenses that they are not at fault was the claim that Morgan and the others in the party bus wouldn’t have been hurt, as badly or at all, if they had been wearing seatbelts.

It’s still early in the suit, so many of the details about the crash are still under wraps, but that is likely to change as the proceedings move forward.

9 Other ‘Key & Peele’ Sketch That Should Be Movies

by 15 mins ago

Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are developing their Substitute Teacher sketch as a feature film with Paramount, which is objectively great news, since the pair is never not funny. But because “Key & Peele” is such a cinematic-looking show, the possibilities for other sketch adaptations is pretty much endless.

As psyched as I am to see Substitute Teacher maybe coming to the big screen, these are the other “Key & Peele” sketches that would make great movies.

1. Suburban Zombies

Even after years of being the trendy monster on the block, zombie stills are everywhere, and a Key and Peele parody might actually be enough to get me interested again.

2. Power Falcons

The Power Rangers are set for a reboot in 2016, so now seems like the perfect time to green light this even-more-racist knock-off.

3. Lando’s Fan

If you ask me, Lando’s standalone “Star Wars” spin-off already has a perfect trailer.

4. LMFAO’s Non-Stop Party

Elevator pitch: It’s like “Groundhog Day” meets “The Twilight Zone.” Also, it stars Redfoo and Sky Blu.

5. Post-Apocalyptic Hunt

Change the ending of this highly stylized sketch, and you have a perfect End of Days buddy comedy.

6. Slow Brotion

Could they stretch this joke out for 90 minutes? Probably not, but I’d like to see them try.

7. Damn, Check That S**t Out

Key’s character runs straight into the office of new president Bill Clinton, and suddenly, we have the start of a great ’90s-set sci-fi flick.

8. Twilight Gangsters

There’s so much in the lives of these two Twihards ...

John Green Wrote An Incredible Response To ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ Being Banned

by 18 mins ago

In case you hadn’t heard, a Riverside, CA schools committee banned “The Fault in Our Stars” from its middle school classrooms, during Banned Book Week no less.

The committee took issue with exposing the students to mortality and sexuality, because those are things that are not essential aspects of life, apparently.

But before I get too mad about the decision, I’ll let “Fault in Our Stars” writer John Green take over. He published his official response to the banning on his tumblr after a fan asked how he felt about the decision.

“I guess I am both happy and sad.

“I am happy because apparently young people in Riverside, California will never witness or experience mortality since they won’t be reading my book, which is great for them.

“But I am also sad because I was really hoping I would be able to introduce the idea that human beings die to the children of Riverside, California and thereby crush their dreams of immortality.”

Riverside schools committee, you just got Green’d.
