‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ TV Spot Teases Major Character’s ‘Last Words’

A new TV spot for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” isn’t going to relieve any fears that Nick Fury might die in the upcoming Marvel sequel.

The preview features some footage that we’ve previously seen — the mysterious metal-armed soldier attacking an SUV driven by the S.H.I.E.L.D. director and blowing the vehicle up. What is new, however, is the line Captain America speaks after that scene.

“Fury’s last words were not to trust anyone.” His last words?!

Marvel isn’t dumb enough to give away a character death as big as Fury’s would be, so we have to figure that Cap means “Fury’s last words before his accident.” That would make sense, since there are images of Fury undergoing some surgery in other trailers. Let’s assume for now that the incident puts him into a coma.

Even if Fury does survive the initial attack, that doesn’t mean he’s making it out of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” alive. As we previously reported, somebody that isn’t Cap, Black Widow or Maria Hill bites the dust in the Marvel sequel, but we don’t know who yet.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” opens in theaters on April 4.
