These Teen Filmmakers Perfectly Explain Why You Need To Make Movies Now

by 11 mins ago

The second annual All American High School Film Festival took place Thursday, October 23 through Sunday, October 26. Boasting submissions from over 15 countries and over 1,000 teen filmmakers in attendance, the AAHSFF is the biggest high school film festival in the world.

The teen filmmakers tackled various subjects – some dealt with individuality, the nuances of young romance, even the possibility of a zombie apocalypse in a high school. Many of the films unpacked the concept of individuality. Dylan Sparano, who was attending for an experimental animation he created, told MTV News that he hoped his film “speaks to some people that you can be cool not fitting in.”

Others filmmakers highlighted the complexities of mental health issues, drug addiction, and school shootings. Filmmaker Katie Yates spoke about her friend’s documentary on cyberbullying, and how the film was inspired by another friend’s devastating experience. “Cyberbullying is not okay,” she declared.

Despite the many different genres of film, one message remained clear: Young people want you to know they’re the ones to look out for

What Should We Expect From Drake And Chris Brown On Nicki Minaj’s ‘Only’?

by 9 mins ago

We found out on Monday (October 28) that tomorrow won’t bring us the release of Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V, as scheduled, but we will get a different kind of major moment for Young Money: Not only will Nicki Minaj be dropping her new single, “Only,” featuring Lil Wayne, Drake and Chris Brown, but it’ll be the first time we’ve heard Drizzy and Breezy on the same song since they publicly made up over the summer.

So, what should we expect from one of the year’s biggest collabs?

Right now, we’ve got more questions than answers. But here’s what comes to mind.

Will They Be Singing Or Rapping?
All of the artists on the song waver between singing and rapping. Breezy sings far more than he raps, but he’s been kicking some rhymes here and there of late. Nicki and Drake both go back and forth — often within one song — and Minaj has dropped both rap-heavy and sing-heavy singles for her upcoming album. Heck, even Tunechi has been known to carry a tune every once and a while.

My guess is that Nicki, Wayne and Drake will all be rhyming, with Brown delivering some sort of catchy hook that’ll stay stuck in your head. Even though all these MCs can create a winning hook, how do you get Chris Brown on your single and not let him man the chorus? Plus, the single art highlights Nick, ...

Taylor Swift’s ’1989′ Album: A Helpful User’s Guide!

by 14 mins ago

Taylor Swift’s 1989 is out! Time to start analyzing. After listening to it five times already, here’s what I can tell you about the album, complete with influences, themes, and RIYLs (recommended if you like) included.

1. ‘Welcome To New York’ – RIYL: NYC

If you thought this song was straight out of a NYC tourism commercial, there’s a reason. On Monday, Tay Tay was named Global Welcome Ambassador for the city. Coincidence?

Nevertheless, “Welcome to New York” chronicles our girl’s move to the Big Apple, and while it’s been criticized for being a bit naive about the city, this opening track captures the excitement and frenzy of NYC as well as the new chapter in Taylor’s adult life, which sets the tone for the entire record.

2. ‘Blank Space’ – RIYL: Lorde, Lana Del Rey… and Shaggy?

This song takes you on musical journey, which sounds incredibly cheesy, but just listen: it starts off with a hip-hop beat, takes on Lorde-like vocals (and Lana when she’s singing about her “long list of ex-lovers”) and comes in with a catchy chorus, which you’ll soon learn is standard for 1989. The best part about “Blank Space” — besides the *pen click* — is that Taylor pokes fun of herself, or rather, what people think of her. (Oh, and if you listen carefully, you can hear Shaggy’s “Saw me kissing on the sofa” in “So it’s gonna be forever,” according to my Twitter friend.)

Nicki Minaj’s Short Hair Is Back In This Video For ‘L’Uomo Vogue’

by 15 mins ago

Nicki Minaj‘s spread for L’Uomo Vogue was released earlier this month, but like the gift that keeps on giving—there’s more. Nicki just shared two clips from a “short film” that accompanies the article and, whoa, seeing those outfits in motion is adding an entirely new element to this thang.

Related: Nicki Minaj’s New Hair Is Shorter Than Ever

In the first, Nicki twirls some fringe, #WERKS her short bob, and wears a dress shirt as a tube top.

In the other, she removes a tie very, very slowly, shows off some extremely pointy (and shiny!) nails, and unbuttons her shirt at, also, a very slow pace.

You can peep the entire video and interview on L’Uomo Vogue‘s website as you bide your time until “Only” drops tomorrow.

Reason #137 To Watch ‘Slednecks’: It Costs $8 To Chill With Reindeer In Alaska

by 17 mins ago

Partying on glaciers might be unfamiliar to most, but partying with reindeer sounds like a whole other world entirely.

On the new MTV show “Slednecks,” which premieres Thursday night at 10/9c, you’ll get up close and personal with a group of friends from the small, snow-covered town of Wasilla, Alaska. There, you’ll find them strapping on their best neons to go hunting, shooting caribou and, obviously, ice-fishing in bikinis. Plus, and perhaps most appealing of all, the real-life portal to Christmas is just down the street.

WilliamsReindeerFarmWilliams' Reindeer Farm Facebook Page

At Williams Reindeer Farm, which charges only $8 per adult for entry, you can HANG OUT WITH REINDEER. You can pet the reindeer. You can kiss the reindeer. You can share your stories of repressed Christian guilt with the reindeer — it’s all fair game! And, in the very unlikely event you wind up bored of the majestic beasts’ company (MONSTER!), the farm also offers inflatable pony races, potato-launching contests and “hay play.” Because, as Williams puts it, “Who doesn’t enjoy playing in hay?” No arguments here!

Halloween might mean winter’s just around the corner, so it’s as good a time as any to check out the farm! Take a look at the company’s calendar in the event you’ll be nearby anytime soon, and tune in to the “Slednecks” premiere later this week!

Snoop Dogg Channels Big Sean In Response To Annoying Iggy Azalea Questions

by 1 min ago

If people continue to ask Snoop Dogg annoying questions about Iggy Azalea, then they should probably expect ridiculous responses from him.

If you’ll recall, the two rappers had a huge blowout over social media, then T.I. finally made one phone call and put it all to an end. Sort of — because people still seem to be interested in furthering this story.

Last week, TMZ pressed Iggy Azalea at LAX airport, asking her if she’d still consider working with Snoop, and she pretty much brushed it off. This week, they caught up with Snoop at LAX and posed the same question. After doing his best to ignore the question entirely, Snoop took another angle: He channeled Big Sean, and broke into a brief rendition of “IDFWU.”

Gotta give the man credit for being funny, even though he might not be as talented as Tip when it comes to answering the tough questions.

Hear T.I. explain how he squashed the Snoop and Iggy beef in the video below.

Snooki’s Got A Costume Idea That Could Very Well Win Halloween

by 13 mins ago

Nicole Polizzi and Jenni Farley have always embraced the Halloween spirit — who can forget their pickle and schoolgirl ensembles? — but this year’s festivities will be extra-special for the “Jersey” gals: Snooki’s mini-me Giovanna and JWOWW’s daughter Meilani will be a part of the fun-filled day.

So what costume ideas do the girls have for their little ones?

“Nicole just got Meilani a pumpkin suit,” Jenni lovingly dishes in the video below. (We’re betting she’ll be the cutest gourd in all the land.)

Meanwhile, two-year-old Lorenzo’s costume is TBD. “I don’t know what Lorenzo’s gonna be,” Snooki divulges. Well, we know he won’t dress as a monkey, because that was so last year.

The DIY master then says she and her brood’s costumes may follow a theme, yet she isn’t sure of which one juuuuust yet. But when Jenni suggests that both her family and Snooki’s dress up in coordinated outfits, Nicole has a brilliant idea. Hint: It’s colorful!

To find out what the girls and their fams might don this Friday, watch the video below. And be sure to tune in to the final season of “Snooki & JWOWW” on Wednesday, November 5 at 10/9c!

16 Sequels That Are Always Almost About To Happen

by 16 mins ago

You know how there’s always talk about sequels that “are about to happen” or that have a “script that’s almost there,” but that never actually happen?

It’s not that stars are lying to us. That’s just how Hollywood works. Movies can take a really long time to come together, and sometimes all that keeps a project alive is continuing to talk about it.

The 16 movies below are in varying stages of development — some will be made, and some won’t — but we’ve been hearing a whole lot without much to show for it.

1. “Zoolander 2″

Derek Zoolander may strike a pose again, but Justin Theroux isn’t likely to direct. He told Vulture that the decision rested on “The Leftovers,” which did get picked up, so he probably won’t be running things behind the camera. He did, however, write the script, which is supposed done and ready for a read-through, according to Will Ferrell.

2. “MacGruber 2″

Will Forte told Collider in August of this year that director and co-writer Jorma Taccone had just sent him a finished outline for the sequel – and actor Ryan Phillipe confided to us that the villain was amazing. So stay tuned?

3. “Bad Santa 2″

BADSANTA_2747800b

Billy Bob Thorton told an audience at Loyola Marymount University this month that at the moment he was “just waiting for a script” to the sequel to the 2003, to which “Entourage” creator Doug Ellin is attached to ...

Jennifer Lawrence And Chris Martin Have Reportedly Broken Up

by 25 mins ago

After only a couple of months of highly buzzed-about courtship and expertly dancing around the paparazzi, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin have reportedly called it quits. According to E!, the 24-year-old “Hunger Games” star and the Coldplay frontman have already thrown in the proverbial towel, which is obviously devastating news for both gossip outlets and people who were really huge fans of the couple nickname “Martin Lawrence.”

Of course, both Lawrence and Martin could easily find another rebound to soften the blow from this first rebound — JLaw recently split from her “X-Men” costar Nicholas Hoult, while Martin separated from Gwyneth Paltrow after 10 years of marriage — but Lawrence’s suitor is going to have to make sure he brushes up on his “Real Housewives of New Jersey.” (And maybe even buy some beans.)

“I would just rather have somebody that has the same taste in reality TV and, you know, isn’t afraid to fart in front of me than to have big, passionate love,” she told Vanity Fair in their November issue. “I don’t like fighting, and I find argumentative people the most annoying people on the planet. Like, why do you still want to be fighting? It’s just unattractive. We should both just move on and watch TV. Basically, what I’m saying is all I need in a relationship is somebody to watch TV with me.”

Fellas, get in line.
