I’m Confused: Justin Bieber ‘Shaved The Monster’?

by 27 mins ago

Earlier today, Justin Bieber revealed via Twitter that he “shaved the monster.” Because he posted the image via his always-promoted Shots app, the image didn’t automatically attach to the tweet, and you had to click through to see what he was referring to. It was, of course, his mustache, but I didn’t immediately know that, OK? In the four seconds it took me to decide whether or not I actually wanted to click through—I mean, I was on my work computer, so—a number of potential monsters raced through my brain. Basically my brain looked like this:

Did he mean Pikachu?

Or maybe the Loch Ness Monster?

Beyonce Is Feminism, According To Aziz Ansari

by 35 mins ago

Not only is Beyoncé kind of a champion for feminism, she’s also, apparently, part of the definition of the word — at least for “Parks and Recreation” star Aziz Ansari. And we tend to agree.

Ansari sat down with David Letterman on “The Late Show” Monday night where he spoke about some people’s reticence to call themselves feminists because “people think ‘feminist’ means some woman’s going to start yelling at them.”

According to Ansari, though — and most rational human beings — “feminism” is just a call to treat men and women equally, an idea he explained by way of Beyoncé and husband Jay Z’s joint On The Run Tour.

“You’re a feminist if you go to a Jay Z and Beyoncé concert and you’re not like, ‘I feel like Beyonce should get like 23% less money than Jay Z,” Ansari said. “‘Also I don’t think Beyoncé should have the right to vote and why is Beyoncé singing and dancing — shouldn’t she make Jay a steak? I’m sure he’s very tired after walking and rapping those two songs.’”

Whip that one out next time someone starts talking about how they’re not a feminist because they don’t hate men.

Watch Pharrell, Lorde, One Direction & Literally Everyone Ever Cover ‘God Only Knows’

by 39 mins ago

What in the name of Lip$ha? The BBC took the meaning of the word “supergroup” to epic new heights with a TV spot that began airing on Tuesday (October 7) in which a variety of artists gather together to sing the Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows.” The promo is related to an upcoming block of BBC Music programming.

The cover will also be released as a single to raise funds for the BBC’s Children In Need charity. The BBC pulled a similar move in 1997, releasing a version of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” featuring the voices of Elton John, Bono and Reed himself, among others, but I think that “God Only Knows” has that 17-year-old cover beat. I mean, not to get all Stefon from “SNL,” but this video has everyone.

Pharrell Williams? He’s in it. Lorde? She’s there, too. One Direction? You better believe it. Here’s only a handful of the 27 artists the BBC rounded up.

This video literally stars everyone. There’s Pharrell!

Robert Downey Jr. Fuels ‘Iron Man 4′ Speculation

by 3 mins ago

Up until recently, it hasn’t looked like there’s ever going to be another solo Iron Man movie.

First of all, Robert Downey Jr.‘s contract only includes the next two “Avengers.” Then there’s the fact that “Iron Man 3″ pretty much ended his individual storyline. Also, RDJ has said that he’s probably done.

Well, I guess he’s changed his mind, maybe, possibly?

The actor appeard on “Ellen” to talk about “The Judge,” which is out this week, and DeGeneres got what might be considered an answer out of him.

“I know there’s going to be a bunch more Marvel movies, and they have a big idea of how to do it best, and we’re in the middle of negotiations,” Downey said.

When Ellen asked if that meant, yes, there is going to be another “Iron Man,” he gave an obliging “Okay, yes.”

Now, if you watch the video, Downey sounds like he’s just saying that to please Ellen, but there might be something to it.

It should come as no surprise that Marvel would be interested in getting their biggest earner back in the fold, but this one might come down to how Downey feels about more time in the iron suit.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” opens in theaters on May 1.

Why Papa Randy Is The Yoda Of ‘Teen Mom 2′

by 3 mins ago

As one of the most powerful Jedi Masters in the universe, beloved “Star Wars” character Yoda is famous for helping Luke Skywalker prevail against evil — but he’s best known for his sage pearls of wisdom. Always remember: “Do. Or do not. There is no try.”

Yoda2MTV/Shannon Baek

Much like the backward-speaking sci-fi star, Chelsea‘s father Randy doles out expert advice (in straightforward English sentences, of course), and he’s an invaluable support system for his daughter and granddaughter Aubree. From aiding his child during the delay in obtaining her esthetician license to helping her cope with her ex Adam, the “Teen Mom 2” papa has been there for Chelsea through thick and thin. Here’s a look back at his best bits of guidance this past season:

On Chelsea purchasing her new home: “It’s the biggest thing you’ll ever buy.”

Before the young mom moved into her first property to call her own, Randy eased his daughter’s nerves and assured her that she was ready for the responsibility — despite the face that it’s a hefty one.

On the Department of Labor withholding Chelsea’s esthetician license: “You have to send a response to their accusation.”

When Aubree’s mama learned the troubling news, she turned to her father for suggestions on how to tackle the situation. Randy quickly came up with a course of action to fight against the claims, and ultimately, their plan worked.

On seeing Adam and his other baby mama at Aubree’s softball game: “It’s just how ...

Lena Dunham And Lil Jon Want You To ‘Turn Out For What’?!

by 10 mins ago

By Danica Davidson

We all fell in love with the kitten version of Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What,” and now there’s another take on the song you’ve gotta see. Just in time for the midterm elections, Rock the Vote and the Atlanta rapper/producer teamed up to release “Turn Out For What,” laying out a number of reasons why we need to turn out to vote on November 4.

The vid starts with Lil Jon explaining to Whoopi Goldberg how he’s voting in the midterms. Once he gets to the voting place to cast his ballots, he spots a lot more famous faces, including Lena Dunham, Tracy Anderson, Sophia Bush, EJ Johnson, Ireland Baldwin, Fred Armisen and Darren Criss. And they’re all more than happy to say what they’re turning out for.

“Glee” star Criss is turning out for education. Dunham (a.k.a. Lil Lena) is turning out for reproductive rights, while Baldwin is turning out for global warming.

The clip also brings up topics like student loans, gun control, deforestation, marriage equality, workers’ rights, animal cruelty, voting rights, healthcare reform, veterans’ rights, police brutality and immigration. All of which will be impacted by the outcome of the 2014 midterm elections. Because even though we’re not voting for a president at this election, we’re voting for senators, members of Congress and governors, and these elected officials will have serious pull on those issues.

Will Gwyneth Paltrow Be On ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’?

by 11 mins ago

American Horror Story” has quickly become a safe place for A-List actors who want to dip their feet into TV without fully committing, for a number of reasons. From Oscar winners in lead roles (Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates) to superstar musicians rocking cameos (Adam Levine, Stevie Nicks), creator Ryan Murphy has produced one of the small screen’s most enviable casts year after year, and “Freak Show” is proving to be no different (hello, Matt Bomer and Patti LaBelle).

However, this “Freak Show” frenzy must occasionally get difficult for Murphy, since all of his famous friends (he has many) are probably chomping at the bit for a role on the show. One such friend is officially Gwyneth Paltrow, who People confirmed has already told Murphy she wouldn’t mind sharing the small screen with Twisty and co.

“She would love to be on this show,” Murphy said, when asked if he’d ever cast Paltrow during Sunday’s Los Angeles premiere. “We’ll see.”

We’ll see? We’ll see?! We need our Freaky Gwyneth, and we need her now. So while we wait for Murphy to inevitably make up a role for the GOOP creator, we’ve imagined what “AHS” would look like with just a little more Paltrow:

Young Money Is Getting Sued By Another Producer

by 28 mins ago

Not again.

Young Money is reportedly getting sued for allegedly not paying a producer, according to TMZ.

REO, who produced Lil Wayne’s 2011 hit “Mirror,” featuring Bruno Mars, is claiming in a lawsuit that he’s owed $91,000 by the label for his work on the song. The single, which was a bonus track on Tha Carter IV, went platinum in the U.S. and hit #1 on the Billboard Rap Songs chart.

The track almost didn’t even end up in Wayne’s hands, though.

“Kanye heard it, Drake heard it, and it already had the Bruno [hook],” REO told MTV News in 2011. “Basically, Nas had it for a while, and it just ended up in the hands of Wayne and he loved it.”

“It’s to the point that they record so many songs over the time period that they’re making the album, so you just hope to God that your song resonates with everybody that has to ‘Yes’ it.”

Weezy’s previous album, Tha Carter III, also landed the label in some hot water with producers. Deezle, who co-produced “Lollipop,” sued for $20 million for royalties for his work on the album; they later settled out of court. Drew and Infamous, known for their work producing Tunechi’s “Mr. Carter,” featuring Jay Z, filed separate suits in 2012 claiming that they were owed royalties.

A representative for the label would not comment on the matter.

Wayne’s new album, Tha Carter V, is due out October 28.

Nat & Alex Wolff Wrote A Song About Hating Cats (But We Love Them Anyway)

by 33 mins ago

If you break Nat and/or Alex Wolff’s heart, you might end up in a song — especially if you speak ill of canines.

After the brothers premiered their new jams, “Where I’m Goin’” and “Rock Star,” on MTV News on Monday (October 6) — and executed an awesome @MTV Twitter takeover — the boys told us a little bit about the stories behind the songs. And one of those stories, like many we hold dear, involves furred beasts.

While Alex said that it’s not exactly clear what “Where I’m Goin’” is about, he did admit that it was about a specific girl — one who enjoyed felines and owned a sweater with shoulder pads and whiskey stains all over it.

“I’ve never really been a big fan of cats — I love dogs,” Alex told MTV News, when we brought up the subject of the Internet’s favorite animal. “But this girl that I basically wrote the song about loved cats and didn’t like dogs and then after she broke my heart I wrote the song… saying that I don’t like cats or her.”

Aw, don’t take it out on the purring ones, Alex! Just look at this majestic beast…

The ‘Are You The One?’ Newbies Compare Themselves To Season 1′s Crew

by 18 mins ago

The new crew on “Are You the One?” is embarking on a journey to find their perfect matches just like the love hopefuls from last season, but that’s not all the two groups have in common.

MTV News sat down with several of the newbies and asked who they think they’re most like from Season 1. Among the girls, Adam’s perfect match (aka Chris’ former lady love) was a popular answer.

“I’m most like Shanley,” 11th girl Christina reveals in the video below. “I think there’s a lot of characteristics that she has, and I’d think we’d be buddies.” No arguments here — we’d love to see these two in action at a White Party!

Meanwhile, Jenni picks Shanley too, but then admits she sees a couple of other former casties in herself as well. Dario is just as indecisive as the blond bombshell, saying he can’t choose between two erstwhile “AYTO” hunks. Decisions, decisions…

Watch the clip, then let us know who you think these cast members are most like from Season 1. And be sure to catch a new episode of “Are You the One?” on Monday at 10/9c!
