9 Insane Plot Points From The ‘Forrest Gump’ Sequel

by 37 mins ago

In the 20 years since it hit theaters, “Forrest Gump” has eclipsed the book it was based off of. Thanks to the award-winning performance from Tom Hanks, Winston Groom’s 1986 novel has mostly been reduced to trivia because of how different the film version of the character ended up being.

There’s also the fact that the book Forrest got a sequel and the movie one didn’t.

It’s a pretty strange book that would have made for an even weirder movie, so as “Forrest Gump” heads back into theaters for an IMAX rerelease, here’s some things you might not know about “Gump & Co.”

1. Forrest goes broke.

Sadly, Bubba Gump Shrip Company goes through some hard times after Lt. Dan sells his portion of the company. Forrest resorts to working in a strip club… as a janitor.

2. And then becomes a player for the New Orleans Saints.

In true Forrest fashion, he meets an NFL player at the strip club, and before he knows it, he’s footballing professionally.

3. But Jenny’s ghost keeps appearing to him.

Forrest’s childhood friend doesn’t die in the books until the sequel, and afterward, she becomes a guardian angel of sorts for him and their son, appearing multiple times throughout the novel.

4. He also helps create the formula for New Coke.

This soft drink disaster falls in line with one of the recurring themes of the book. Whereas “Forrest Gump” tells the story of his many accidental successes, “Gump and Co.” ...

Jhene Aiko Says Childish Gambino Brought ‘Something Different’ To ‘The Pressure’ Video

by 23 mins ago

With musical collaborations like “Bed Peace” and “Pink Toes” already proving the chemistry between Jhene Aiko and Childish Gambino, the two took their working relationship to a new level this week, with the released of Aiko’s “The Pressure” video, directed by the multi-talented MC.

“I’m really interested in directing myself, so I like when I meet other people that bring something new to the table that it’s like, ‘Oh, I didn’t even think of that, but I like it,’” she said of her decision to have the 30-year-old at the helm. “So when it came down to doing ‘The Pressure,’ I knew that I wanted it to be something different, and I wanted to bring in an outside view.”

The video takes a stripped down visual approach to depict the rising singer as she grapples with pressures on the home-front — like motherhood — as well as those that come with being in the public eye.

“I knew that I wanted it to be simplistic, and I knew that I wanted it to be different; that’s all I knew,” she said. “For the most part, I gave him creative control.”

With the reigns, not only did Gambino create a video Aiko loved, but the rapper — who first gained notoriety as an actor, writer, and comedian performing under his real name, Donald Glover — fostered an environment that brought the best out of Jhene.

“Most directors, they’ll just tell you what to do,” she said. “He set it ...

Kanye West Reveals Yeezy 3 Release Date

by 13 mins ago

Brace yourselves—and your wallets—because Kanye West‘s first pair of Adidas Yeezys are coming in November. [Cue the chest-banging intro of "I Am a God."] At a show last night in Australia on the never-ending Yeezus tour, Ye casually mentioned the release month of his first shoe for Adidas during the middle of his “Runaway” monologue. JK, it wasn’t casual—nothing about Kanye West is casual.

While he had originally said the shoes would be coming in June, last night Ye told the crowd, “Now I feel good because we’ve been working hard and we got the new Yeezys 3 coming in November and this is just the beginning. This is something that I want to create and do for the rest of my life.” We’d like that, too, Kanye—please do it for the rest of your life. Pretty please.

Of course, if Ye had his way, he’d already be written into textbooks. “Now there’s only two times in history: Before Yeezus and after,” he added. “Every now and then in life you’ve got to turn up just to let people know that you ain’t playing with them and that they can’t play with you. Now it’s time to create, which is my dream and why god put me on this earth.”

Kanye also gave us what we really wanted to hear which is that this Adidas collaboration will be different from Nike one, in the sense that we might actually have a chance at ...

Quit Playing Games: Backstreet Boys Are Better Than ‘NSYNC

by 17 mins ago

With Abby Devora

It is the most important question of our time: Are you Team Backstreet Boys or Team ‘NSYNC?

This morning, we heard Maggie’s argument on why she is all about JT and the rest of the boys, and while she did have some valid points, I’m going to have to say “Bye Bye Bye” because I have news: The Backstreet Boys are the best boy band of all time.

Of course, some of you are going to side with ‘NSYNC and try to defend Chris Kirkpatrick’s pineapple haircut, but there’s just no arguing with the style, sound and all-out greatness that is Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean, Howie Dorough and Kevin Richardson.

In case you need a fresher, here is why you should be team BSB:

The Best Boy Band Song Of All Time

I’ll give it to you: “Bye Bye Bye” was a great song, but when you ask someone to name the most popular boy band song of all time they will most likely say “I Want It That Way.” Try it, see what happens. And don’t even get me started on that video, those dance moves in all white, the screaming fans, Kevin’s solo?! Too much too handle.

They performed a concert… in heaven

‘NSYNC may have been featured on “The Simpsons,” but were they featured in one of the funniest movies of 2013, “This Is The End”? Nope. The boy band give a private concert in heaven to Jay Baruchel ...

‘Are You The One’ Cast Members Reveal Their Biggest Dating Dealbreakers

by 19 mins ago

The romantic hopefuls of “Are You The One” are about to embark on an unforgettable, hookup-filled journey to the Boom Boom Room find out who science says is their perfect match. But when it comes to traits these 21 twentysomething guys and gals seek in the opposite sex, there are several things that just won’t fly — and they’re dishing about these no-no’s in the Dating Dealbreakers video below.

For starters, liars and cheaters need not try to woo Alexandra — because if she catches you, you’ll be sorry she did (and be down an important body part, guys). Bad breath is unacceptable for John and Dario — hope you packed your toothbrush and toothpaste, ladies — while bad teeth are a turnoff for dental student Jasmine (can you blame her?) and Garland.

Personality really matters for Tyler: “He could be totally fine, like six-pack abs [and] everything, like 6’5″ — just everything that I’m attracted to,” she says before revealing all that just isn’t enough. “[But] that will get you by for like a month.”

parisdealbreaker

As for Paris, she “doesn’t do” strip clubs, while Nathan wants to avoid heavy drinkers. Jessica‘s prerequisites are short and sweet — or are they? We’ll leave it at that and let you hear them for yourself.

Watch the video to see the rest of the cast dish on their dealbreakers, and be sure to tune in to the premiere of “Are ...

Share A Coke With WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS

by 24 mins ago

It was bound to happen eventually.

In the midst of the Coke “share a Coke with” marketing campaign madness, what with all the Mambo Number 5-ing and Sherlock-ing going around, it was only a matter of time before we got the (dragon) mother of all #shareacoke photoshops.

Behold, tumblr user thelordberic‘s tribute to the Khaleesi herself.

Share a coke with her, why don’t you? She’s got enough problems, what with the dragons and bazillion names and everything. Girlfriend could use a soft drink, probably.

Sun Up, Top Down: Watch Kid Ink ‘Rollin’ Around Los Angeles

by 10 mins ago

Kid Ink is getting ready to drop the lead single from his next album on Tuesday, but before he does that, he’s back with a video for “Rollin’,” off of January’s My Own Lane.

The Los Angeles-bred rapper dropped the George Orozco-directed video on Friday (September 5), and in it, he hops in the driver’s seat of a white drop-top and cruises around his home city. He’s rocking a San Francisco 49ers Deion Sanders jersey, but L.A. doesn’t have a football team, and San Fran is in Cali, so we’ll forgive him.

Next week, the Alumni Music Group MC will be dropping “Body Language,” produced by Stargate and featuring a major guest.

“Last year, we dropped ‘Show Me’ the day after Labor Day Weekend,” Ink told MTV News, referencing his breakout single. “So I found it a great occasion to keep things rolling and kick off my next wave.”

Skateboarding And Talking Tinder: That’s Just Part Of ‘Being Tyler Posey’

by 1 min ago

Four seasons into “Teen Wolf” and you know Scott McCall like the back of your hand — he’s a lacrosse star, has an unfortunate allergy to “Star Wars” and, oh yeah, just happens to be the most benevolent hero Beacon Hills has ever seen. But who exactly is Tyler Posey, who plays the Alpha Werewolf? Glad you asked.

TyPoCostume

This Sunday, MTV will take you inside the life of none other than TyPo: the tatted-up, backwards hat-sporting 22-year-old whose skateboard might as well be an extension of his being. And in the sneak peek of the special below, he proves that even though he’s a household name, he’s still very much the same guy his longtime friends know and love.

TyPoMom

Tyler and his two pals arrive at one of their old favorite skating spots in the clip, and proceed to tear up a lengthy asphalt course. When they’re winded, though, and finally decide to take a break, Tyler’s pal Dan makes quite a confession — he still uses an old group photo featuring Tyler to get girls on Tinder.

“It’s done well for me,” Dan says, gratefully. “I wanna thank you for that.”

“Dude, that’s all I want,” Tyler responds, as the two set up for a particularly meaningful high-five. That’s what friends are foooooor.

Check out the clip, tune in to “Being Tyler Posey” Sunday night at 10/9c and make sure you catch the season finale of “Teen Wolf” ...

Mac Miller’s New Video Is Dedicated To His Dog

by 49 mins ago

Mac Miller just dropped a three-and-a-half minute video for “Diablo,” but he says it’s only a teaser. So what does that mean for the real video? Well, if this is any indication, it’ll be dedicated to his dog, Ralphie.

“For Ralphie” flashes across the screen at the end of the Rex Arrow-directed visuals, off of his Faces mixtape. Back in July, Mac told MTV News that the dog had gone missing.

“Lauren is still out here and Ralph is still alive with some crazy lady who thinks she can take care of my dog better than me,” he said. “As a man, for my son, I went back to a meeting and came back and homey was gone. I can start knocking down doors, but it’s like someone loves him and if he comes back, he’ll come back.”

Though he sounded hopeful that he’d get him back at the time, maybe he’s not as optimistic now; the chorus is a repetition of the phrase, “Everybody got dead homies.”

There are also bright moments, though, as the Pittsburgh native and dozens of friends take to the streets of Los Angeles for a day of, well, all sorts of stuff. There’s a bunch of standing around, yeah. But there are also shots of the Mac holding a bouquet of flowers, a cupcake, sitting atop a food truck and rocking a sailor hat.

Come home, Ralphie.
