Ed Sheeran Steals Pharrell’s Hat And Joins Grumpy Cat’s Club: See The Pics

by 22 mins ago

Pharrell’s Vivienne Westwood hat (a.k.a. the Smokey the Bear hat from the 2014 Grammys) seems like it will never go away.

After the “Happy” producer took the thing out for a spin at the Grammys on January 26 — let me remind you that this was almost six months ago — the forest-ranger-like gallon hat instantly became an Internet meme. But now it’s June, and the wide-brimmed accessory is still a thing. Is P’s trend turning into a classic look?

According to Ed Sheeran, who posted a pic with the hat on Saturday (June 21), it’s still in style. Let’s take a look at the other celebs who have observed the power of the hat in the past.

Ed Sheeran
“I stole’d a hat,” Sheeran Instagrammed. As a producer on X, Skateboard P helped Sheeran out with songs like “Sing.” And this is how you repay him, Ed? Seriously though, Sheeran interviewed Pharrell at Summertime Ball in London today, so it’s all good.

Ashton Irwin
The 5 Seconds of Summer drummer tweeted his “Pharrell game” backstage at Summertime Ball.

Liam Payne
“Gone for a Pharrell tonight,” One Direction singer Liam Payne said on Friday night. Although it may not be Pharrell’s exact hat, I can appreciate the homage.

Hilary Duff
Hilary was feeling the style too, but took on a few more hats to impress her 2-year-old son Luca. She wrote on Friday, “Apparently my one hat wasn’t cutting ...

Schoolboy Q Shooting Was ‘Targeted,’ Police Say

by 17 mins ago

Colorado police have determined that the shooting at the ScHoolboy Q, Nas and Flying Lotus concert in Denver appears to be calculated, and not just a random act.

“This is not just a coincidence. We think there is probably more to it than that,” a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said, according to the AP. “It does seem to be more targeted than random.”

Schoolboy Q, born Quincy Matthew Hanley, and at least four other people were traveling in a white SUV that was fired on. The vehicle continued about 15 more miles, reportedly in search of a hospital, before the Denver police stopped them and sought medical attention for some passengers. Hanley and the another uninjured passenger were briefly handcuffed and detained after the shooting but released after police determined they weren’t suspects.

Schoolboy Q himself was unhurt, but three other passengers sustained non-life threatening injuries. One victim was released from the hospital Friday morning.

The concert at the historic Red Rocks venue was a benefit held to support The Gang Rescue and Support Project of Denver, but Kelly said the police cannot confirm if the shooting was gang-related.

Q tweeted after the dust settled to let his fans know he’s OK. He’s currently on tour supporting his latest album Oxymoron and will perform in Iceland on Sunday night and New York on June 25, as noted in his tweets.

Would You See Daniel Radcliffe As Robin In ‘Batman vs. Superman’?

by 29 mins ago

Would Harry Potter make a good Robin? We might get the chance to find out as Daniel Radcliffe told Buzzfeed that he’d be interested in doing another franchise, and what better than one that’s been rebooted again (and again).

“Batman. If they do that again, I’ll do that too. It’s happening isn’t it?” he said about 2016′s upcoming “Batman vs. Super: Dawn of Justice,” directed by Zack Snyder. “With Ben Affleck. I could be Robin. I’m perfect.”

It’s not “Fifty Shades Of Grey,” but becoming half of the Dynamic Duo’s a solid aspiration.

So what do you think, would Radcliffe be the “perfect” Robin to Affleck’s Batman?

Yay or nay? Daniel Radcliffe as Robin?

Where The Heck Are These 9 ‘Game of Thrones’ Characters?

by 12 mins ago

So, it’s been nearly a week since the season four finale of “Game of Thrones,” and still we are left with questions. So many, in fact. But few more fervent than those surrounding missing and/or ignored characters from this season and those prior.

Because, hey, it’s easy to misplace a few folk here and there. There are, after all, approximately a billion characters — give or take — in George R.R. Martin’s epic tale. So where have they gone? Are we likely see them again? Here’s a few we’re dying to know more about heading into next season. And no, these don’t contain book spoilers, so you’re safe, TV-only fans.

1. Gendry

Sure, we maybe-kinda-sorta found him this week, and allegedly he’s still a-rowin’, but where exactly is the Baratheon bastard? And will he ever land ashore? If he’s been rowing for a year, where would that put him? Essos? Sothoryos? Ulthos? America (in our dreams)? Tell us, HBO, tell us!

2. Yara Greyjoy

We saw but a moment of Yara last season. The tough-as-nails sister certainly didn’t seem one to give up on her family or the fight (though that is exactly what she did this season). Did she head back to the Iron Islands? Is she cooking up another plan? We think she deserves another go at rescuing her brother and bringing him back into the real world, but we’re also pulling for any family on this show to not be a broken down, ...

How Will Lana Del Rey’s 28th Year Go? We Asked A Psychic

by 20 mins ago

Lana Del Rey officially stepped out of 27 Club range Saturday (June 21) — a.k.a. her birthday. To celebrate, we asked resident psychic Licorice Root to take a peek at the stars and see what’s in store for the “West Coast” singer:

Lana Del Rey, whose album Ultraviolence was released this week, turns 28 tomorrow — on the Summer Solstice! This first day of summer marks the longest day of the year, which is quite an auspicious and magical time for a birthday. Let us take a look at her birth chart to see what makes this chanteuse tick and what is in store for this popular — yet polarizing — diva in the coming year.

Because I am psychic, I know what you’re thinking: What made Del Rey assume that in this digital age she could be Lizzy Grant then Lana Del Rey without the whole Internet catching on to it and questioning her motivations? I mean, I suppose when one really considers it, it’s not that strange — Lady Gaga is just Stefani when the wig comes off, and even Pink is plain old Alecia Moore. Changing your name is a part of the game when it comes to fame; however, the way Elizabeth Grant became Ms. Del Rey rubs many people the wrong way.

My diagnosis? It’s her Sun in Gemini at the final degree. She’s nearly a Cancer, but was born just a tad too early ...

Arctic Monkeys Give Firefly Festival A Booty Call Soundtrack

by 25 mins ago

By Mary J. DiMeglio

DOVER, Delaware — “I’m having a lovely time. Thank you for asking,” Alex Turner shared.

The Arctic Monkeys grooved their way into the Firefly Festival on Friday afternoon with swagger to spare.

Under a blazing sun, Turner led the boys through scorching cuts from their five studio albums.

The long-ago buzz band is establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with in the U.S. Last year’s AM was their highest-charting album in the U.S. to date (No. 6 on the Billboard 200); they’re storming across the country with a string of festival appearances (including Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza ); and, their tunes have been covered by everyone from Sam Smith to Miley Cyrus.

With palpable confidence, Turner crooned his way through the slinky, boozy, bluesy stomp of “Do I Wanna Know?” dressing the part of a ’50s greaser in dark shades, slicked back hair and a white button-up. He got his Elvis on — swiveling his hips and pointing off into the distance to everyone and no one.

“Arabella” ushered in the riff from Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” and the sludge continued with “Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair.”

“Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” was “dedicated to that booty call you might make later on.”

The Arctic Monkeys went back to their 2006 debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, for the angular, punky “Dancing Shoes” and “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor.”
“Knee Socks” was a hit, ...

Lorde And Iggy Azalea Don’t Have Beef So Stop Asking Them

by 36 mins ago

How many times does a young woman have to say she supports her peers before the media listens? There’s been a recent back-and-forth between Iggy Azalea and Lorde in the media that seems to be encouraging them to insult each other, and it’s just gotten out of hand. As we pointed out before, the two New Zealand musicians have repeatedly said on social media that they have nothing but respect for each other.

It all started when Iggy told Billboard that she didn’t think Lorde was a good fit for the Nirvana tribute at the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The New Zealand rapper stated that she doesn’t think Lorde and Kurt Cobain are peers, and it quickly became a huge story.

But Lorde, in her typical wise-beyond-her-years fashion, brushed off the comment as a thoughtless aside. “I’ve been in a position where I’ve said something in an interview where I’ve thought: ‘Damn, I wish I could take that back,’” she told Melbourne’s Herald Sun. “I don’t know how [Azalea] is feeling about it. But anyone who’s doing well deserves respect, and I respect what she’s doing.”

Clearly, Lorde has no interest in dissing Iggy. And vice versa.

After the Billboard story blew up, Iggy also tweeted several times that she considers Lorde to be a talented friend. “My opinion on the makings of a touching musical tribute wasn’t meant as some back door way to take a dig at her ...

MTV First: Listen To Ed Sheeran Rap His Life Story On ‘Take It Back’

by 12 mins ago

“I’m not a rapper, I’m a singer with the flow,” spits Ed Sheeran at the beginning of his new track “Take It Back,” off of his upcoming record X. Well, you could have fooled us, Ed.

Sheeran goes full-on autobiographical on the blazing-fast rap track, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar. The jam deftly, and wryly, tells the genesis of his career — and how he took his hard knocks experiences and stayed grounded and true to himself and his fans.

A memoir of a song, Ed raps about plunging into the music world at a young age (“At 16 years old I moved out of my home”), writing songs about exes (“Would it hurt your reputation if I put it on wax?”) and the media (“I’ve never had an enemy, except the enemy/ But I’ll be selling twice as many copies as the magazine will ever be”). The gloves come off, but Ed remains a gentleman, hitting hard but never naming names with lines like:

“I went from sleeping at a subway station to sleeping with a movie star.”

Excuse me? Okay, now we want names.

“Take It Back” is a bit less love-filled than his previous songs — a bit harder — but he tempers it all with a bashful, self-aware, wry humor. Example? “I don’t ever want to be perfect because I’m a singer that you never wanna see shirtless/ And I accept that someone’s gotta win ‘worst-dressed.’”

I don’t know, dude, you’ve got some pretty serious style — and ...

Here’s The Real Reason Ab-Soul’s Always Wearing Shades

by 17 mins ago

If you’ve seen Ab-Soul, that means you’ve seen Ab-Soul in sunglasses. That’s because his eyes are highly sensitive to the light. So much so, in fact, that he’ll need surgery eventually.

“I need a corneal transplant,” he told Complex recently. “I’m not too excited about doing that. I’ma thug it out as long as I can. It sounds kinda scary, right.”

Right.

It’s one of the reasons that he doesn’t drive — though he could if he had to. “I’ll get you to the hospital, in case of emergency,” he joked.

“The biggest thing is light sensitivity,” the T.D.E. rapper told Hot 97 earlier this month. “That’s why I always wear shades. Right, the brightness is probably kept best down. I had a good nine, ten years to see it for real. I kinda remember that a bit. A lot of great things happened in that time. You know what I’m saying? I did some great things in that time…I hear and memorize. I gotta kinda memorize my steps in a sense. Cause—it’s crazy.”

Soul also spoke on his upcoming album, These Days, which drops next week. Earlier this week, he released “World Runners,” featuring Lupe Fiasco and Nikki Jean, which you can listen to below.

I'm serious about these snacks. Catch me @adamfleischer
