Jennifer Lawrence Kicks So Much Ass In The New ‘X-Men’ Clip

by 04/30/14

Ok, so that’s pretty cool.

A new clip from “X-Men: Days of Future Past” has premiered over at Yahoo!, and it gives us the first, non-trailer look at Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) in action.

Trask presents his new weapons system when someone in the room full of military leaders sets off the mutant alarm. Hmmm, I wonder who that could be…

Anyway, the action harkens back to the original trilogy and the Mystique we knew back then, which is another way of saying that she’s a badass.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” opens in theaters on May 23.

Nick & Knight: Nick Carter And Jordan Knight Are Making A Collabo Album

by 04/30/14 nick & knight, nick carter, jordan knight

Here is a thing that is real and matters more than all of the other things on the definitive list of things: Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys and Jordan Knight of New Kids on the Block are joining forces for a forthcoming collaboration album titled Nick & Knight (out September 2) and a North American tour this fall.

You know what that means? All other boy bands can take a stadium full of seats today. That’s right, I mean you, One Direction, 5 Seconds Of Summer, The Vamps, The Wanted, and — ooooooooh, sorry! Too soon.

The LP’s available for pre-order right now on NickandKnight.com, and those who do so will snag an auto-download of the duo’s new song teased in the video above, “Just the Two of Us.” The track’s got an easygoing, “so hot right now” Pharrell-disco-throwback feel to it with a totally old-school, NKOTB-worthy bassline vocal and tingling, BSB-era falsetto harmonies.

This is a lot to process right now. Middle-school me is literally ripping up his brand-new Trapper Keeper out of feels-related frustration. Still, my body — it is ready.

Now, let’s all gaze at Nick Carter’s now-and-forever facial flawlessness.

Oh, and Jordan Knight’s because #turndownforwhat.

50 Cent Doesn’t Think Drake Is ‘Dangerous Competition’ For Jay Z

by 04/30/14

Having had issues with everyone from Ja Rule to Rick Ross at various points during his career, 50 Cent is something of an expert in the art of musical warfare. For the latest hip-hop bout, though, he’s just an observer on the sidelines ‒ but he’s still got a few thoughts on the situation.

“I don’t think it’s a dangerous competition for Jay,” he told Hot 97′s Funkmaster Flex of the recent spat between Jay Z and Drake. “At all.”

The two rap stars have been exchanging jabs of late, though things don’t appear to have gotten too heated just yet. Earlier this year, Drake told Rolling Stone that he didn’t appreciate the frequency with which Hov was rapping about art; Jay responded on his “We Made It” remix with an apology to “Mrs. Drizzy.”

The Toronto native seemed to fire back earlier this month on “Draft Day,” boasting that he was focused on “Just hits, no misses.” Then, this week, Jigga sent what many perceived as a subliminal shot at Drake on DJ Khaled’s single “They Don’t Love You No More,” rapping, “Wrong sport, boy, you know you’re soft as a lacrosse team.”

How much things escalate remains to be seen, but Fif believes that a winner will be determined not just by the tenacity of the rhymes, but the entirety of the songs.

“I don’t know [who I'd choose lyrically],” he said. “It’s gonna be what musical chioces. the production choice count, too. It’s the same ‘Ether’ ...

Spider-Man’s Sinister Six Revealed?

by 04/30/14

The Amazing Spider-Man 2” might not have the teaser-filled post-credits scene you’ve been hoping for, but with a little help from your phone, you can get a glimpse of what’s next for the wall crawler.

Using the Shazam app while listening to the Alicia Keys and Kendrick Lamar song, “It’s On Again,” reveals six(!) images related to well-known Spider-Man villains: Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Vulture, Rhino and Mysterio.

A report from The Wrap suggests that neither Drew Goddard’s script for the Sinister Six spin-off nor the line-up has been finalized yet, but it would be hard to imagine a roster that looked much different from this.

That being the case, let’s take a look at each baddie to see what Spider-Man might have in store for him in the coming years.

Green Goblin

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first. Of course Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin would make his way into the select group. Since he’s getting the first introduction, it makes sense to cast him as the de facto leader.

Doctor Octopus

The octopod villain got a tip of the hat near the end of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” and it no doubt means big things for the series. I mean, the last time Doc Ock showed up, he got his own movie.

Does Pharrell’s Mickey Mouse Band-Aid Make Him The New Nelly?

by 04/30/14

Pharrell went from “Happy” to “Hot In Herre” Tuesday night at the 2014 TIME 100 Gala in New York City. The hip-pop heavyweight, who was being recognized as one of TIME‘s Most Influential People, attended the event rocking his trademark hat, but maybe even more noteworthy, a Mickey Mouse Band-Aid on his chin.

Although the 41-year-old honoree told MTV News the bandage was to cover a scratch, we couldn’t help but wonder if he was taking style cues from his good pal Nelly.

Pharrell's Mickey Mouse Band-Aid

It would be no surprise since the Neptunes producer helped pen a number of the St. Louis rapper’s hit songs and recently invited him to join forces onstage during Pharrell’s set at Coachella earlier this month.

While we assume Pharrell just sported the Disney dressing as a fun way to disguise his blemish, Nelly’s signature was actually in support of an incarcerated family member — he has no plan to bring back the retro look.

“I would hope I wouldn’t have to because when I was doing it at the time, my little brother was locked up,” Nelly told MTV News’ Sway during an episode of “RapFix Live” in October. “I’m hoping I ain’t going to have to put no Band-Aids back on. All is well right now.”

So that settles it, Pharrell. The face Band-Aid is all yours.

SoundCloud Is Totally Helping My Friend’s Band Plan Their Tour

by 04/30/14

It’s a common lament: Band has tons of online fans. Band books tour because, hey, tons of fans! Band hits a new city. Band plays to an empty room. Band drinks beer and salty tears while sleeping in a van outside the venue until the cops come and shoo them away.

Well, a new tool courtesy of SoundCloud could help cure musicians of the empty room blues. (When it comes to lodging, though, they’re on their own.)

If you’re a musician with a SoundCloud Pro Unlimited subscription, you’ll now find “top countries” and “top cities” in your stats section, allowing you to see where your tunes are played the most. This is priceless info, folks.

When striking out on tour, a lot of bands head to city centers — New York, Los Angeles, Chicago — aiming to play out where people go out. Looking at the stats, however, this might not be the best recourse — at least for up-and-comers.

Take my musically inclined friend, Russ Marshalek of the band A Place Both Wonderful And Strange. Dude gave me a peek under the hood of his account and I was kind of blown away.

Despite residing in Brooklyn, his cities were a pretty festive melange: Atlanta, Georgia; Redding, California; Berlin, Germany; Black River Falls, Wisconsin; and Melaka, Malaysia.

New York and all the rest? Noticeably absent. Have fun in Malaysia, Russ! Send me copious postcards!

Now, I don’t know if Russ is really going to spring for that international plane ticket, but at least when ...

The 33 Best ‘Mean Girls’ Quotes, Ranked

by 04/30/14

The day has finally come: It’s been 10 long years since the now-legendary teen movie “Mean Girls” hit theaters. Instead of sitting here feeling old while wearing our pink shirts (it is Wednesday, after all), let’s look at the bright side of our elder status.

We’re wiser now. We can still recite the movie, word for word (literally), but our conversational references have remained the same for all these years. We’re still booing people and calling them whores? Sure, but broaden your mind. Let’s (metaphorically) make fetch happen. Together.

Below, check out the 33 quotes that we’ve ranked in order of underuse, then be glad you don’t have man shoulders. At least you can wear halters.

33. “On Wednesdays we wear pink.”
Let it go. It had its time. Now let it go.

31/32. “That’s so fetch.”/”Stop trying to make fetch happen.”
It’s kind of happening.

30. “Is butter a carb?”
Yes, it is.

29. “Boo, you whore.”
You all have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it OK for guys to call you sluts and whores.

28. “I want my pink shirt back!”
OMG, take it.

27. “She doesn’t even go here.”
By now, she kind of does.

26. “You go, Glen Coco.”
He’s gone.

25. “I can’t help that I’ve got a heavy flow and a wide-set vagina.”
Slow your roll.

24. “Get in, loser. We’re going shopping.”
Been there, shopped that.

23. “I’m a mouse, duh.”
Get with it.

22. “Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?”
No Muffin Left Unbuttered: ...

Dane DeHaan Has Burger Feels On The Tonight Show

by 04/30/14

by Kat Rosenfield

When you’re watching Dane DeHaan terrorize New York as the lean, tough Green Goblin in the upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” just remember: this man was recently reduced to tears by a hamburger.

In an appearance on the Tonight Show, DeHaan explained to Jimmy Fallon the challenges of taking the role as Spidey’s nemesis — not the least of which was transforming himself from a fairly skinny guy into a well-muscled villain. The actor spent more than eight months rigorously training, and eating piles of vegetables and protein, in order to develop the Goblin’s intimidating physique, and not only did he take the commitment seriously, he was delighted to do it.

“People are always like, it must have been so hard,” DeHaan said. “I was like, c’mon people, I’m the Green Goblin! Who cares if you have to eat a lot to be the Green Goblin? It’s the coolest thing ever!”

But as committed as he was to the role, his complete dedication to the Green Goblin diet and fitness regimen had some unexpected emotional side effects. About four months into the process, DeHaan’s trainer recommended that the actor at least occasionally give himself permission to indulge in a meal not on the “approved” list.

“So my wife and I went to brunch, and I ordered a burger, and it was my first burger in four months,” he recalled. “And I took a bite of it, and I literally started crying in the restaurant.”

Needless to say, Dane’s wife was ...

Frankie Muniz And Floyd Mayweather Are Ready To Kick Donald Sterling To The Curb

by 04/30/14

Now that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been kicked to the curb over racially insensitive remarks he made on tape, there are plenty of people lining up to buy the city’s other NBA franchise.

In fact, the potential suitors read like a dream team of entertainment and sports heavyweights. Who’s interested?

Diddy

He’s got his own network, a huge liquor deal, clothing line and $700 million to blow. What Diddy wants, Diddy gets.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The boxing champ and “huge” Clippers fans said he’s not interested in three or four percent. “I got to get a solid percentage,” he said. “But do we want to buy the Clippers? Yes we do. We’re very, very interested in buying the Clippers.”

Rick Ross

He’s the boss. So now he’s ready to be the boss.

Frankie Muniz
The former “Malcolm in the Middle” star, who has loved the Clips since 1994, said when he flew out to Los Angeles from New Jersey for the “Malcolm” pilot in 1999 the only thing he wanted to do was see the team. “I am buying the Los Angeles Clippers,” he said point blank on Tuesday.

Oscar De La Hoya
Another boxing legend also threw his hat in the ring. “The league has made it known that it wants more minorities involved, and as a proud Mexican-American, I will bring a different perspective to the NBA in general, and the Clippers in particular,” he said. “I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I know what it takes to run a successful sports entity and ...

Drake Says Meek Mill Has ‘One Of The Best Rap Moments Of Our Generation’

by 04/30/14

Meek Mill is gearing up to release his sophomore album, but fans still can’t seem to get enough of his 2012 debut, Dreams and Nightmares — and by “fans” we mean Drake.

On Wednesday morning (April 30), Drizzy took to Twitter to praise his buddy Meek for his energetic and inspirational album intro. “Dreams and Nightmares Intro really one of the best rap moments of our generation,” the OVO spitter proclaimed.

We can’t blame Drake, there’s just something about the way the Beat Bully-produced banger goes from a reflective piano-laced track to a full-on club banger.
