Liam Payne Steals Harry Styles’ Hat… And It Might Look Better On Him

by 04/30/14

Liam Payne just got Instagram, and he isn’t wasting any time filling it with cuteness. But to what extreme will he go to get a good snap? Theft, apparently.

The 1D singer swiped his mate Harry Styles’ hat for a quick pic, and it had me feeling weird feelings.

“Robbed Harry’s hat,” @fakeliampayne wrote.

I have to admit… Liam looks pretty good in Harry’s hat… Oh no… What does this mean?

No, it can’t be true.

Ok, sorry, Harry. I know you have the best hat game. I didn’t mean it.

My apologies.

HAT.

KING.

FOREVER.

by 04/30/14

The short review? If you were fan of the first movie, you’re going to love what they’re doing with the new movie. For the long version — and spoilers — read on:

Trailer Of The Apes
The footage started off with a new trailer for the movie, which laid out the whole story. Since the simian plague decimated the population of planet Earth in the first film, Apes have been living peacefully in their own society North of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Into this peace enters humans, led by Malcolm (Jason Clarke), who wants to bridge the gap between the two races. Unfortunately, due to machinations by Dreyfus (Gary Oldman), the fragile peace breaks apart, and all out war engulfs San Fran.

The trailer conveyed both the character work and the epic scale of the action, nicely setting the stage for the footage to come.

Just Like A Serkis
Andy Serkis wasn’t available to intro the footage in person, what with him table reading “Star Wars” and all, but he did film a brief video intro to the footage. Of note, Serkis plugged there were more motion capture actors this outing of the apes, and more shooting on practical locations than sound-stages.

Given they were green-screening in a frickin’ ...

Mariah Stripped Down To Lingerie, But Will She Bare All For Her New Album?

by 04/30/14

Is Mariah Carey getting ready to turn up the heat with her new album? Mimi is prepping her 14th LP for a sort of surprise release later this year, but this week she appears on the cover of Wonderland’s summer 2014 issue, in quite the racy outfit. Terry Richardson shot Mimi for the UK magazine, which finds her in black lingerie and pearls, toasting with a glass of champagne next to the tagline, “Why are you so obsessed with me?”

Mariah isn’t usually one to shy away from showing skin, but recently those images have been reserved for her Instagram account. Does a cover like this mean that she’s getting ready to go all Rihanna on us, as she gets into full album promo mode?

Watch Justin Bieber Become The Biggest Sweetie Pie On His Bowling Date

by 04/30/14

When you’re getting chased by paparazzi and getting blasted by the media, sometimes you just need to get away from it all — especially if you’re Justin Bieber.

And as much as Bieber loves getting smothered by his fans (see evidence in this Instagram), a bowling date with mom is a great way to escape the chaos.

It turns out that JBiebs is good at bowling too. His mom, Pattie Mallette? Well, she’s OK too, in my opinion.

Apr 30, 2014 |

Justin, who released two free songs on Monday, can be seen prepping his bowling stance at the top of the alley. Feet apart, back to the pins, and a quick toss to of the ball. If it works for him, it works for me.

Apr 30, 2014 |

Pattie goes with the more traditional stance, while Justin films the whole thing. As she wobbles and misses a few pins, Justin playfully jabs her in a mock post-game interview. “I still love you though,” he says.

19 Facts That Will Make You Think Differently About Race

by 04/30/14

Stop. Think about your opportunities. And compare them to those of people around you. Do you think you’re better off?

A new campaign from MTV asks you to “Look Different.”

For nearly the last year, MTV has been closely studying millennials’ perceptions of subjects like fairness, equality, privilege and discrimination — with a special emphasis on race. And in response to the results, the channel is prescribing new on-air programming, social media reach, innovative digital tools, celebrity engagement and much more with its “Look Different” campaign.

To combat biases, MTV will kick off its campaign with initiatives like the upcoming “Untitled Whiteness Project,” a documentary-style program that will explore how millennials navigate diversity and what it means to be a young white person in America in 2014. Also, starting Wednesday (April 30) are PSAs throughout the day dealing with microagressions, which are small indignities and everyday insults used between different races.

On May 7 at 11:30 p.m. ET, the night before the 2014 NFL Draft, MTV will follow two openly gay football players as they struggle to come out to their teammates and families in “True Life: I’m a Gay Athlete.”

Here’s what MTV found in their study with millennials:

On Race

1. 64% of young whites believe having a black President demonstrates that people of color now have the same opportunities as white people

2. 65% of young people of color feel white people have more opportunities than racial minority groups — a 26 point difference from young whites (39% agree)

3. 9 in 10 ...

Wait, Is This Harry Styles?

by 04/30/14

Hey Directioners: I have a mid-week mind-blower for you. Check out the dude in the image up there. Dreamy, right? Perfect, no? Is your heart racing like a raver on too much blackmarket Four Loko while your soul wails “Hazza”? Roger that.

Well, get this: That is not, in fact, Harry Styles. Cue a very anatomically correct exploding brain noise.

Yes, I know, this is a literally unbelievable statement, but it’s true, guys. The above well-haired one is, in fact, Dot Major of London Grammar.

Yes, he is a totally divergent human man who is not related to Harry Styles at all.

Still, when Major and the rest of the band came in to chat with MTV News about their debut record If You Wait, he had a fewer staffers confused — and more than one fluttering to my desk, screeching, “Was that Harry?”

And, it seems, the denizens of MTV News aren’t the only ones seeing double — according to the band, Major gets mistaken for Styles all the time, a state of affairs they find “weird.”

Weird or no, check out the side-by-side below. I would say they should play together — if not for that whole seeing-ones-doppelgänger-portends-certain-death thing. Damn that fickle finger of fate.

J.D. Salinger Biopic Will Be ‘Hunger Games’ Screenwriter’s Next Project

by 04/30/14

By Kat Rosenfield

Four years after the death of the reclusive J.D. Salinger, the man who made Holden Caulfield a household name is getting a biopic of his very own.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Danny Strong is set to direct “Salinger’s War,” a movie that follows Salinger out of early obscurity in 1940s New York, into the trenches of World War II, and through the process of writing a little novel called “The Catcher in the Rye.”

Strong, whose most recent projects include penning the scripts for the final two films in the “Hunger Games” franchise, is a Hollywood jack-of-all-trades — an actor and producer as well as an Emmy award-winning writer — but he’s saved his directorial debut for this film. It’s safe to assume that Salinger is a subject that Strong is passionate about; he paid personally for the movie rights to the Salinger biography this movie will be based on, and wrote the script himself on spec.

“Salinger’s War” already has a home at Black Label Media, but the one thing it doesn’t have is a cast — particularly a leading man to play its titular character. Who should producers tap to play the iconic, enigmatic author?

Ben Feldman
Ben Feldman
Because he sports a ridiculous, extravagant mustache on “Mad Men,” you’d be forgiven for not realizing that Ben Feldman is a very handsome fellow with a distinct resemblance to Salinger. But he is! And knowing how well he can ...

James Franco Says Lindsay Lohan’s F-List Is A Lie

by 04/30/14

James Franco has a message for Lindsay Lohan: nice try.

The actor/author was on Howard Stern’s satellite radio show on Wednesday (April 30) to talk theater, movies and his new poetry book “Directing Herbert White,” which, well, features a poem about Lohan.

Because he can’t get enough of the sex lives of his celebrity guests, Stern once again asked Franco to confirm rumors that the “Of Mice And Men” Broadway star had been intimate with Lohan.

“It’s a lie,” Franco said of the recently leaked list of Lohan’s alleged conquests. “I will swear on my mother’s life that I never had sex with her.”

Stern reminded Franco that the last time the actor was on his show he also denied sleeping with Lohan. “I will swear on anything you ask that I have never had sex with Lindsay Lohan,” said Franco, who has repeated his denial in a number of recent interviews. “All right, we maybe kissed… it was lame. I can’t believe she put me on that private list, she’s so delusional!”

Franco isn’t embarrassed that he made out with Lohan, but at this point it’s ancient history to him.

“When we made out it was so long ago … I was like a nice guy,” he said, recalling that their make-out happened when he was filming “Spider-Man 2″ in New York in 2004.

“‘Okay [I said], the kiss is enough.’ It was also like, ‘What the hell am I doing?’ She was young,” he said.

The pair have known each other for years and before he ...

‘Star Wars: Episode VII’: What We Still Need To Know

by 04/30/14

The cast for “Star Wars: Episode VII” may have been officially announced, but there’s still a lot of things we need to know about the new movie. For example:

What’s The Title?
Smart money says the title for the movie — which won’t remain, “Star Wars: Episode VII” — will be revealed this summer at San Diego Comic-Con. That’s also where the rest of this news will hit, including the first public gathering of the cast.

Another Female Star?
After the fandom cried out, as if they had only cast two women in “Star Wars,” rumors started to fly that there was still one female role yet to be cast. Given that rumors also swirled around an African-American actress — Lupita Nyong’o was a frequently raised name — playing the Jedi daughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi, its possible these two rumors may be one and the same.

Regardless, there are going to be more than 13 speaking parts in the movie, which means just because they weren’t at the table read doesn’t mean there aren’t more people who will appear on screen.

Lando Calrissian and Han Solo

What About Lando?
We previously speculated about some of the more prominent “Star Wars” actors that didn’t show up in London yesterday, including Billy Dee Williams. A tweet sent by Williams, which has since been deleted seemed to imply that the actor wasn’t even asked to return. Since then, Williams has taken to retweeting fans demanding that Lando Calrissian be included in ...
