Original ‘Star Wars’ Actors Spotted In London Ahead Of ‘Episode VII’ Filming

The May start date for “Star Wars: Episode VII” is looming, and while the fans don’t know much about what director J.J. Abrams is up to, there are signs of a lot of movement going on in secret behind the scenes.

Entertainment Weekly did an impressive bit of snooping over the weekend and found some pretty convincing evidence that three of the most important players of the “Star Wars” saga — Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford — have all congregated in London, where Abrams is about to launch into production on “Episode VII.”

I wonder why…

The first piece of evidence caused some stir on Twitter because it was the most obvious sign that some familiar faces will be returning to that galaxy far, far away. English actor Peter Serafinowicz, who dubbed the voice of Darth Maul in “Episode I,” posted a picture after meeting up with Hamill in London.

Another tweet from a London-based photographer placed Ford in the city as well. The Han Solo actor, who is a known aviation enthusiast, met with the pilots of an air ambulance.

Fisher put forward her own playful hints, short of outright confirming her return as Princess Leia, which she’s already done on a few occasions.

With all of these clues about what “Episode VII” will eventually be floating around, the big, rumored May the 4th announcement can’t come soon enough.

“Star Wars: Episode VII” opens in theaters on December 18, 2015.

‘Game Of Thrones’: What Does That White Walker Ending Mean?

WARNING: Like winter, spoilers are coming. Do not read on if you haven’t seen the most recent “Game of Thrones.”

Well, that was crazy.

Last night’s “Game of Thrones,” titled “Oathkeeper,” ended with a huge left turn for both viewers of the show as well as those who have read the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels the HBO series takes its cues from.

More often than not, “Game of Thrones” adheres to George R.R. Martin’s books as much as possible. But the White Walker-infused ending was something that has not yet been featured in the novels — and it’s a chilling sign of things to come.

Let’s revisit the scene, shall we?

At Craster’s Keep, the Night’s Watch renegades decide to honor Craster’s old tradition of sacrificing newborn baby boys to the Others. A White Walker, the same one we saw at the end of season two, takes the abandoned baby to a stunning ice castle in the far north, and delivers the child to another White Walker who looks kind of like Pinhead. The White Walker King Thing touches the baby’s cheek, and the baby’s eyes turn ice-blue — and now, it seems, we know how White Walker babies are made.

It’s impossible to overstate the importance of this scene. For starters, the HBO series tends to shy away from high-fantasy concepts in favor of the more grounded political story lines. Even Daenerys’ dragons are sparsely used, and we’ve only seen the Others a few times. Introducing the White Walkers’ home, and a character who appears ...

‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Webs Up Box Office Overseas

By Ryan J. Downey

Captain America got his butt kicked by the ladies over the weekend and soon, he’ll face off against Spider-Man.

But Marvel’s First Avenger shouldn’t be upset. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is already the biggest April release ever, even if the Phase 2 sequel surrendered to “The Other Women” here at home and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ (as well as “Rio 2″) overseas.

Hollywood would be wise to target more studio pictures toward the half of the population that identifies as female. “The Other Woman” topped the domestic box office with a $24.7 million debut, thanks to an audience that was 75 percent female and 65 percent over the age of 25.

Despite mostly negative reviews, “The Other Woman” has already made more than its $40 million production budget around the world. “The Other Woman” stars Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton. Nicki Minaj has a tiny role as Lydia, the assistant to Diaz’s character.

Captain America gave up his box-office crown to Spider-Man overseas. Marc Webb’s second installment of Sony’s franchise reboot debuted two weeks ahead of its domestic release, expanding to South Korea, Russia, Italy and Japan (among other markets) over the weekend. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ has made $132 million already, which is roughly in line with the movie that first put Andrew Garfield under the mask in 2012. Dane DeHaan finally admitted which direction Harry Osborn is headed in the Spidey sequel, speaking with MTV News at the film’s red carpet premiere in New York.

After three weeks in the top ...

What Are Lil Wayne And Mannie Fresh Working On?

Lil Wayne and Mannie Fresh finally back together again? It’s been 10 years since the New Orleans natives last worked together on a project (Weezy’s 2004 album Tha Carter) but it looks like fans might be able to hear some new music from them soon.

Over the weekend producer Charles Pettaway tweeted a photo of himself in the studio with Wayne and Mannie Fresh, leaving us to wonder what exactly they recorded during that session. Wayne is currently prepping Tha Carter V, the final installation in his Carter series, so it would be fitting for Mannie Fresh to finish what he started by adding production to this latest LP.

On the other hand, there’s also been much talk about a Big Tymers reunion. Fans were up in arms when Birdman revealed that Mannie Fresh, one of the original Big Tymers, would not be involved in the reunion, but since then the former collaborators have been patching up their relationship.

“I’ve been talking to Fresh a lot. We talk every other day, we been talking about doing music, so matter of fact we gonna get in,” Birdman told MTV News last year. “Me and Fresh ain’t got no problem, we never had no problem. It’s been a minute and we plan on working again.”

In February, Mannie Fresh told MTV News that he and Birdman were in the process of “negotiating,” before recording any music, and it looks like they’ve gotten past the money talks.

DJ E-Z Rock Dead At 46

Legendary hip-hop DJ E-Z Rock has died at age 46. According to a Facebook post from longtime partner MC Rob Base, Rock died on Sunday and no cause of death was revealed at press time.

Rock (born Rodney Bryce) was best known for his dancefloor destroying 1988 hit “It Takes Two,” with Base, who he’d known since fourth grade. The hyped hit, which was produced by new jack swing legend Teddy Riley, featured a sample of Lyn Collin’s 1972 James Brown-produced song “Think (About It).”

“It takes two to make a thing go right/It takes to to make it outta sight,” goes the iconic hook of the song that seamlessly mixed hip-hop and house music. He might have been behind the turntables, but Rock got plenty of love in Base’s lyrics, including the lines, “Cause Rob is in the front, E-Z Rock is on the back-up … Rock the mike with the help of EZ.”

Among the many who’ve sampled the Harlem-based duo’s hit over the years are Snoop Dogg (“I Wanna Rock”), Mac Miller (“Play Ya Cards”), the Black Eyed Peas (“Rock That Body”) and Gang Starr (“Suckas Need Bodyguards”), as well as Girl Talk, LL Cool J, Will Smith and Meek Mill.

“It Takes Two” was featured on the pair’s 1988 debut of the same name, which also had the hit “Joy and Pain.” But “Two” would be the song that cemented Rock’s reputation and, to this day, is guaranteed to get people on the dancefloor. Base announced the news on Sunday in a since-deleted post, but has changed the cover photo ...

Neil Patrick Harris Is Great At Everything And Here’s The Proof

Artwork by Janelle Myers and Rich Sancho

Let’s face it. Neil Patrick Harris is awesome. Not, awesome in the way that a lot of actors are awesome in a role, or a costume or an awards show speech. He’s … wait for it … really awesome.

Think about it. What is NPH not good at? He killed it as a kid doctor back in the 1990s as “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” then came back hard in 2005 as the legendary Barney Stinson on “How I Met Your Mother.” He killed the Internet in Joss Whedon’s online musical “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog,” took on the voice of Nightwing in “Batman: Under the Red Hood” and played himself to perverted perfection in the “Harold & Kumar” movies.

He was great on “Saturday Night Live” making fun of his role in “Rent,” (he also directed a version of that musical at the Hollywood Bowl, as well as the play “The Expert at the Card Table”), nailed it as the 2009 and 2013 Emmy Awards host and four-time host of the Tony Awards and is currently vamping it like a champ on Broadway as the lead in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”

Oh, and the magic fan is also the president of the board of directors of Hollywood’s Magic Castle and, c’mon, he was Carl Jenkins in “Starship Troopers.”

Which begs the question: Since he’s pretty much been great at everything so far, what other gigs would NPH kill?

1. Wal-Mart Greeter
I mean, look at that smile.

2. Mortician
When NPH says he’s sorry for your loss, you believe him.

It’s Official: Zack Snyder Is Directing ‘Justice League’

Well, it’s about frakkin’ time.

Zack Snyder, director of last year’s breakneck Superman film “Man of Steel,” has been officially named as the director of DC Comics’ answer to Marvel’s “Avengers” squad: “Justice League.” The Wall Street Journal reports that Warner Bros. and Snyder will follow the upcoming untitled “Man of Steel” sequel, rumored to be called “Batman Vs. Superman,” with the first-ever “Justice League” film.

“It will be a further expansion of this universe,” said Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman. “‘Superman vs Batman’ will lead into ‘Justice League.’”

News of “Justice League” comes as no surprise, given what we already know about the “Man of Steel” sequel. Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Clark Kent, the last living Kryptonian on Earth. He’s joined by Ben Affleck as the new Batman, and Jesse Eisenberg as Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor.

Those aren’t the only familiar faces in the “Man of Steel” sequel mix, either. Last December, “Fast and Furious” actress Gal Gadot won the part of Wonder Woman, marking the iconic character’s first ever live-action movie appearance. Recently, relative newcomer Ray Fisher joined the film as the half-man, half-machine superhero known as Cyborg, though it’s expected his role will be small.

It seems like there’s more casting to do, as well, now that “Justice League” is officially on the docket. Are Aquaman, Green Lantern and the Flash next on the list? It looks like we’ll know soon enough.

Latino Review even reports that the “Man of Steel” sequel and “Justice League” will shoot back-to-back, ...
