Darren Aronofsky Explains Why His ‘Noah’ Isn’t Just ‘An Old Man With A White Beard’

It's been nearly a decade since director Darren Aronofsky first announced plans for his own take of the biblical myth of "

"The day we cast Russell Crowe, it all changed," Aronofsky told MTV News during the L.A. Junket for the movie. "You start with an artist like Russell and they're going to bring so much to it."

Crowe stars as the title character, a good man on a ravaged proto-Earth who receives a divine message that a terrible flood is on the way. Beyond the bible story basics, Aronofsky's version has a tinge of the fantastic, with stone angels, armies of armor-clad marauders, and magic.

For the director, it was a chance to reclaim some of the elements of Noah's oft-told story that may have been smoothed out over years of retelling.

"I think the Noah story has very much been co-opted into this parable for kids about Noah and the animals and an old man with a white beard," Aronofsky said. "But if you look at the actual story, it's not a kids' story at all, it's the first apocalypse story — it's about the end of the world." For the director, it's a story about destroying "the thing you love most in the world" — whether it's the film's unseen creator sending a great flood to wipe out humanity, or a late-film turn where Noah questions whether he and his family will even be allowed to survive. "It's about justice," Aronofsky explained. "And over the course of the film, mercy and grace are learned. And that's very much ...

Lindsay Lohan Talks Tinder, Treatment And Her BFF Oprah On ‘Ellen’: Watch

Are you one of those people who signed up for Tinder hoping to catch Lindsay Lohan's attention? Well, better think of a different way to do it, because as it turns out, Lohan won't be swiping right to "like" anytime soon, since she's technically never used the dating app.

"You know what is so funny?" she asked Ellen DeGeneres during her appearance on Ellen's show, which airs Monday. "My brother went on my Instagram and did that. ... I've never been on Tinder," she said, referencing last year's Instagram post that revealed her brother's profile pic.

And it doesn't seem like the "Mean Girls" star will be downloading it anytime soon. "I'm OK with just taking care of me. I just want to work and take care of me right now. I don't really ... That's not even a thought."

Instead of dating, Lohan is now focusing her energy on her OWN docuseries, which follows the troubled actress as she attempts to change her life after an ongoing cycle of substance abuse.

"When I went to treatment this time, when I went to Cliffside, I really wanted a moment for myself, and I learned a lot of different tools and things that I didn't in the past. In the past, a lot of people don't know this, but I was sent to rehab to avoid, you know, them trying to put me in jail. So it wasn't something that I necessarily wanted or was ready for. It was something that it was kind of just going with ...

Lady Gaga’s Roseland Run: What To Expect When She Takes The Stage In NYC

When Lady Gaga kicks off her run of Roseland Ballroom shows on Friday (March 28) night, there will be a definite sense of duality to the proceedings.

On one hand, the residency — she's doing seven shows in total — represents the beginning of something much bigger: the lead up to her ARTPOP Ball tour. On the other, it symbolizes the end of an era ... she'll be the last artist to take the stage at the legendary NYC venue, which has operated in the city since 1919.

Needless to say, it's going to be an interesting night; and as I count down the hours until she takes the stage, here's what I'm expecting from Gaga's sure-to-be-remembered Roseland shows.

Even more ARTPOP

At her SXSW show earlier this month, Gaga played seven tracks off her most recent album — none of which was her latest single, "G.U.Y." Of course, given that she just released a thoroughly over-the-top video for the song, I'm pretty sure I'll be hearing it on Friday night.

Will other standouts like "Venus," "Fashion!" and — please, oh please — "Do What U Want" (with bonus R. Kelly cameo!) make the cut? It would make sense, considering these shows are a dry-run for the Ball. Also, will she continue the trend she started at SXSW and largely refrain from playing her hits? I can't imagine she won't grace the crowd with "Poker Face" or "Just Dance" ... her Little Monsters might riot.

An Andy Cohen Cameo!

Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live" host showed up in the ...

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 4 Timeline Reveals Surprising Near Misses And Connections

The second half of fourth season of "The Walking Dead," which ends Sunday (March 29), has been unlike any the show has done before. Not only have the characters been pushed far past the edge, but they've also had their adventures broadcast out of chronological order — making things a little bit difficult for the casual viewer to keep track.

Luckily, we're here to help you out. As avid watchers of the show, we've created a handy timeline of the major events in season 4.5 as they happened, in the right order.

Click for a larger version of the timeline. All images/logos are property of AMC. Photos by Gene Page/AMC.

We started at the end of "Too Far Gone" with the destruction of the prison and scattering of the group; and then followed them all the way up to the end of "Terminus.

There are probably far more connections we didn't pick up on (let us know in the comments below), but it is fascinating to see how the various storylines have intersected — or narrowly missed each other, like in the case of Tyreese's group, and Daryl/Beth.

It's also entirely possible that other events are happening out of order, beyond what we know at the end of "Us": we know that Rick, Carl and Michonne were last seen on the railroad tracks, followed by Daryl and the Claimers. But what if we were seeing them in the past, and they actually beat Maggie and Glenn's group to Terminus? And the ...

Kanye West Gets His Designer Clothes Wet During Future Video Shoot

Kanye West was so dedicated to nailing the scenes in Future's upcoming video for "I Won," that he didn't even mind getting his designer outfits wet.

During a visit to Hot 97 in New York, Future explained to Angie Martinez that he and 'Ye hit the beach to create a Hype Williams masterpiece for the Honest track.

"It's incredible. We on the water, we on the beach, and it's beautiful women," he said. "We made [them] look like the old Hype Williams video girls, when video girls were stars back then."

He added that Kanye actually got his prized outfits wet while filming the scenes, but he didn't make a big deal about it. "The water was actually getting on him, but he wasn't complaining," Future said. "Kanye kept it real with me on this one. All the way real, no problems out of Kanye."

Mr. West is getting pretty comfortable in front of the cameras these days. He appears on the cover of Vogue's April issue, along with his fiancée Kim Kardashian as the "world's most talked about couple." His daughter North West also appears in behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot.

Future's Honest album arrives on April 22.

Beyonce ‘Ugly Cries’ During Final Mrs. Carter Show: Relive The Tour Here

That's a wrap on the Mrs. Carter Show world tour.

On Thursday, Beyoncé hung up her stilettos and put down her mic (at least for the moment) after closing out her epic world tour at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, Portugal. Understandably, the diva got a bit emotional with the crowd as she thanked her Beyhive for supporting her on this "incredible tour."

"If you all didn't know tonight makes 132 shows, tonight is the last show of the Mrs. Carter show," she said after requesting a spotlight on her so her fans could get a better view. "We started a year ago, and I want to say this has been such a journey, and the past year we've been through so much together — the Super Bowl, shooting the videos all of these shows."

Speaking of her adorable daughter Blue Ivy, Queen Bey continued, "When I first started the tour, my baby wasn't even walking yet, and now I just want you to know that I'm so lucky."

Beyoncé then became so overwhelmed with emotion that her eyes filled with tears as she warned fans that she was "giving you all an ugly cry." However, upon further review of the video, I conclude that there is no ugly cry in sight; in fact, she looks pretty much flawless.

"Thank you for allowing me to have a career I've had," Beyoncé continued as "XO" played in the background. "And when I fall, you lift me up, and when I'm hungry, you feed me, and I just want to give you my ...
