‘Terminator’ Reboot Casts ‘Divergent’ Star In Major Role

Even after a supporting role in the upcoming "Jai Courtney isn't quite ready to leave behind bleak, futuristic worlds.

According to Variety, the "Good Day to Die Hard" star is in talks to join the upcoming "Terminator" reboot — set for release next summer — as Kyle Reese, the father of humanity's only hope against robot overlords, John Connor.

Reportedly called "Terminator: Genesis," the reboot will kick off a new, standalone trilogy. It will also welcome back the man behind the series' most iconic moments, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Jason Clarke from "Zero Dark Thirty" and Emilia Clarke from "Game of Thrones" have already signed up for roles.

"Terminator: Genesis" will continue the story of man's struggle to survive after an all-powerful, self-aware computer system, Skynet, takes control of the world, and the reboot brings some of the series' most important characters back into the fold.

Jason Clarke takes on the role of John Connor after Christian Bale most recently played him in "Terminator: Salvation." Edward Furlong and Nick Stahl played previous iterations of the future savior. The movie's other Clarke, Emilia, takes on the iconic role of Sarah Connor, John's mother, originated by all-time badass Linda Hamilton.

Courtney can be seen next in "Divergent" when that movie opens in theaters next month.

"Thor: The Dark World" and "Game of Thrones" director Alan Taylor will helm the first installment of the trilogy. It's unclear at this point how the story of "Genesis" will relate to the previous four installments of the series, which was originally started by James Cameron back in 1984.

"Terminator: Genesis" is scheduled ...

We Figured Out The Secret Meaning Of Pharrell’s G I R L Album Title

Pharrell Williams took another step towards ubiquity on Wednesday, announcing the release date for his second solo album, the mysteriously (and emphatically) titled G I R L.

While there's not a whole lot we know about the album — outside of the fact that it will feature his latest smash, "Happy," and, apparently, no rapping — given that his group N.E.R.D. is an acronym for "No one Ever Really Dies," I'm willing to bet this record follows suit: an early guess is that its title stands for "Greatest In Real Life" (because, after the year he's had, Pharrell can basically lay claim to that title).

Of course, that's just one option. Turns out, there are plenty of other acronyms he could choose ... and here are some of my favorites.

"Giraffes In Red Loafers"

"Get It Right, Larry"

"Grizzled Independent Rabbi League"

Really Lucky"

Gosh, It's A "Really Large (Hat)"

"Going Into Railway Law"

"Grandmas In Red Lobster"

"Gradually Ingratiating to Radio Listeners"

"Ginseng Isn't a Reliable Laxative"

"Gorillas In Reclining La-Z-Boys"

"Gonna Impugn 'Royals,' Lorde"

"Grueling Indie R&B Listen"

"Get In, Ralph Lauren"

"Getting In Really Late"

"Girls In Respectful Loungewear ('Blurred Lines, Part II')"

Pharrell Finally ‘Happy’ At #1 On Billboard Chart

Talk about impeccable timing. On the same day he announced the upcoming release of his second solo album, G I R L
, Pharrell Williams will have plenty to celebrate after landing his latest #1 hit. By now you've surely heard the "Despicable Me 2" smash "Happy," and clearly you like it because the song just keeps climbing the charts.

"Happy" To Be Here
After a few weeks of slow rise, the bouncy pop smash "Happy" finally galloped past Katy Perry's "Dark Horse"
to hop into the top spot on the Billboard Digital Songs chart. With sales up 31 percent to 329,000, the song easily took the lead, besting Perry's 277,000. It also snagged #1 on the iTunes chart and gave Skateboard P his first #1 as a lead artist in the nine-year history of the Digital Songs chart.

One of the week's biggest gainers was John Legend's "All of Me," which rose seven spots to #4, as sales grew 46 percent to 164,000. It was also a good week for Bastille, whose "Pompeii" broke into the top five for the first time at #5 (146,000).

"Frozen" And Beyoncé Hit Milestones
It was a big week for a pair of chart mainstays, as the soundtrack to animated smash "Frozen" moved another 100,000 copies to move past the one million mark in it's third month on the charts. Just a few spots behind at #4, Beyoncé's self-titled pop-up album shifted another 48,000 to boost it's 10-week total to 1.75 million, pretty much ensuring that Queen Bey will hit the two ...

6 Reasons Why Katy Perry Probably Got Engaged

Katy Perry showed up to the 2014 Elle Style Awards in London wearing a Vivienne Westwood dress, pointy pumps, and ... wait, hold up... is that an engagement ring?!?

Before she was named the U.K. Woman Of The Year by the mag, the singer strutted the red carpet with a glittery (and enormous), what-seems-to-be diamond ring on her left hand, showing it proudly to hungry photogs. Could this mean that boyfriend John Mayer finally popped the question? MTV News reached out to Katy's rep for confirmation but hadn't heard back by press time.

Here are all the reasons we think that Katy said "yes" (based on a quick poll of the engaged women in the office):

1. She Just Got A Manicure
When you get engaged, you don't just show off your ring right away. Before sharing a snap of your hand on Facebook, ladies usually get manicures first. And it looks like KP is sporting a glossy new shade of lacquer...

2. "I Will Love You Un-con-di-shon-al-lee"
Do I even have to point out the lovey dovey lyrics in her last album, Prism? Everything she sang about — unconditional love, walking on air, legendary lovers — has been preparing us for this moment. What you don't know... John Mayer actually used Juicy J's "Dark Horse" verse to propose.

3. If There's A Mechanical Bull Involved, There's Love Involved
That is an old proverb that I just made up. What I'm referring to is Katy and John's emotionally cheesy "Bound 2" parody "Who You Love" video, ...

Jada Pinkett-Smith Cast On Young Batman Series ‘Gotham’

In the latest, and most high profile casting on FOX's "Jada Pinkett-Smith ("The Matrix" trilogy) has joined the cast in a series regular role as Fish Mooney.

The character, which won't necessarily be known to comics fans because the character (as far as we can tell) is original, is described via press release as:

"A sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner, Fish Mooney's got the street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book. Imposing and hotheaded, she's not one to be crossed."

Pinkett-Smith will be working closely with Robin Lord Taylor, who is playing Oswald Cobblepot, a.k.a. the young version of the villain The Penguin. Taylor's character is a low-level gangster working for Mooney; and if we're to guess the arc, will probably work his way into Mooney's inner circle before ascending to the crown.

The show focuses on a young Commissioner Gordon (Benjamin McKenzie), starting with the murder of Bruce Wayne's parents and then moving forward to show the development of both Batman, and the villains who define him.

Also cast on the show, which has a series commitment for next season from FOX, are Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth. Bruno Heller ("The Mentalist," "Rome") wrote the pilot script and will serve as executive producer. Danny Cannon ("CSI," "Nikita") will direct and executive produce the pilot.

Stay tuned for more news on "Gotham" as it breaks.
