J.Lo Keeps Going Back To The Block: Tour The Bronx In Her Videos

Don't call it a comeback, but Jennifer Lopez's return to the Bronx in her was a welcome one on Thursday (January 30). It has certainly been a while since she's graced the streets of Castle Hill for a video, but no matter how large her empire grows, J.Lo never lets her fans forget that she's still "Jenny from the block", a proud Puerto Rican, 6-train riding, Yankee fan.

In celebration of Lopez's return to the Boogie Down, MTV News pulled together three throwback videos that she also filmed in the borough nearly 10 years ago.

"Feelin' So Good" feat. Fat Joe and Big Pun (1999)

If you were ever curious about what a day in the life of J. Lo was like, this video pretty much has you covered. From her wake-up calls from Big Pun and Fat Joe in the morning all the way to her night out at the club with her girlfriends, J.Lo's life in the Bronx seems pretty darn awesome. Especially when the subway employee lets her and her friends jump over the turnstiles without paying so they don't miss the train. No wonder she was "feelin' so good" there.

"I'm Gonna Be Alright" feat. Nas (2001)

Two years later, Jenny returned to the block during a seemingly scorching summer for "I'm Gonna Be Alright." A guy in his car tries to get Lopez inside by dropping the romantic line, "I know you sweatin' yo, why don't you get inside, yo, so you could cool down, yo?" Surprisingly that story never develops, but J.Lo continues to live her ...

Island Native Bruno Mars Freezing His Ass Off During Super Bowl Rehearsals

Bruno Mars has been nominated for 18 Grammys, toured the world and recorded two smash albums. But when he got the call asking if he'd play halftime at Sunday's Super Bowl, the usually unflappable singer said he was a bit stunned.

"I couldn't believe it," Mars said during a press conference on Friday (January 30) when former Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams asked him for his reaction to getting the halftime invite. "We were all watching you as a band last year when you performed with Beyoncé and we were just like, 'Man, what if one day we get the call to do that?' It definitely came soon, but just honored because some greats have been on that stage."

Hawaiian-native Mars — who recalled doing a magic show for NFL cheerleaders when they were on the island for the Pro Bowl when he was a child — said he just started rehearsing a few nights ago, but has already been thrown off a bit by how cold it is in January in Jersey. "The microphone turns into a popsicle and all these things you don't really think about going into it," he said of the chilly temps at the first cold weather outdoor game in Super Bowl history.

A performer since childhood, Mars said he's not really feeling the nerves yet and despite several requests he steadfastly refused to give up any surprises he has in store or reveal his pick to win the game. "I want the world to watch, it's only a couple of days, they can hold tight," he ...

One Week After Hunter Moore’s Arrest, New Adult Novel ‘Deeper’ Takes On Revenge Porn

Robin York didn't plan to release her novel "Deeper" one week after revenge porn king Hunter Moore was arrested by FBI officials in Sacramento, California. But she's glad she did — and she hopes both her book and Moore's arrest will help move the conversation forward about a practice that's still not wholly looked on as a crime.

"Deeper" is York's debut New Adult novel — a genre catering toward those in college and in their mid-20s. (She's also a best-selling romance novelist under the name Ruthie Knox). The book centers around college student Caroline Piasecki, and how her world is turned all akimbo when racy photos of her end up online after breaking up with her boyfriend.

If the whispers of her classmates aren't enough, Caroline is also plagued by internal mutterings — the imagined voices of those anonymous men on the Web telling her that her newfound public embarrassment is all her fault.

That self-blame was something York really wanted to highlight in "Deeper," as it was the aspect of the whole revenge porn debacle that she found most disturbing.

"I read a couple of articles about revenge porn and it wasn't so much the content of the articles that struck me as it was the comments on the articles, which some of them were supportive, but so many of them were just viciously victim-blaming," York told MTV News. "I wanted to write about a character who was struggling with something that really attacked her selfhood and her sense of self-worth. This just seemed like a way to get at ...

Raz Simone Tells Chilling Real-Life Story Behind ‘Kids Throw Rocks’

Raz Simone has no intentions of hiding behind his music. In fact, it was the connection he made with listeners that led the Seattle rap rookie to strike a big-time deal.

Simone promises that all of his music stems from his real life, and perhaps there is no song realer than "These Kids Throw Rocks," the opening song to last year's Solomon Samuel Simone. On it, Raz makes a brief allusion to his complicated home life when he spits: "My mama found truth in her stomach amongst some of the lies/ Getting raped by a close friend could f--- up your life."

"Yeah that's true, that's real," Raz told MTV News with a bit of a frog in his throat on January 20 when he came to New York to announce his partnership deal with Lyor Cohen, Todd Moscowitz and Kevin Liles' new label, 300.

"That was my dad and my mom. My mom was a virgin, so that's what happened," he continued to explain. "They were friends for a little bit and then, you know, that was that."

Raz says his dad was a heavyweight boxer from Detroit, who used to spar with Mike Tyson and at one point served time for killing someone. Despite the horror, Raz's mom maintained an open and honest relationship with her son, never sugar-coating his parents' past.

"Luckily it didn't never hurt me, just going back and thinking about that, it hurts just thinking about my mom. But growing up not having a dad — or not having him around or even knowing the story, didn't hurt ...

PREMIERE: Shark?’s ‘Fingers’ Video Probably Got The Bassist Fired

Shark?'s new video for "Fingers" probably cost bassist Andy Kinsey his job — but I'm willing to go out on a limb and say it was worth it to create a cinematic experience merging Henry Rollins, myriad animals and a million memories into one snippet of sight and sound.

"I had a really nice set-up at my last job so I made the video when I should've been working," Kinsey told MTV News. "I did all the Henry Rollins/animal mash-ups because I've been having fun photoshopping Henry Rollins holding different animals (I still take requests). They never did tell me exactly why they laid me off."

In addition to the former Black Flag frontman, the video also features clips from the Brooklyn garage band's SXSW and album release tours — around 2013's Savior.

"Going on tour is like the 3 Stooges at the helm of a cruise ship; you just gotta let things happen and enjoy it," Kinsey said. "I got Earthquake Party, EULA, Diarrhea Planet, Grooms, Mission of Burma, Sleepies, Squarehead, SW/MM/NG, the Glass City Rollers (the official roller derby team of Toledo, OH), and of course Nick Brooks all in there along with a million other memories."

The seizure-inducing barrage of images matches perfectly the frantic quality of the song, "Fingers," which finds lead singer Kevin Diamond wailing, "I don't want to go nowhere else I want to leave/ You've got your fingers in my brain there's no relief."

If you're wondering when you can hear some new tunes from Shark?, you're in luck — Kinsey says they're currently working on a ...

Prince To Debut New Song On ‘New Girl’: Get The Details On His Super Bowl Cameo

Prince is ready for his close-up. The singer will stop by for what is sure to be one epic episode, airing after the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Ahead of the airing, I got the chance to speak to Jake Johnson (who plays Nick) about working with the musician and "New Girl" super fan.

Prince Will Make You LOL
"He's also just a genuinely talented human being. He's obviously Prince the musician, but he's a really good actor," Johnson dished. "And I think people will see in the episode that he's legitimately good and he's legitimately funny. I really, really hope he comes back and does more 'New Girl,' even when he was there. I was trying to convince him to just be a character who hangs out in the lofts a lot and pops up, because apart from being Prince, he's really funny and he's really fun to act with."

Yes, Two Princes
Aside from the real Prince, Nick will also don a Prince costume in a flashback scene. "I think he looks pretty damn good. No, I'm saying this objectively. I'm saying this from the outside. I think it's the best Nick has ever looked," he said. "I mean, I think Nick, he's not as sexy as Prince obviously in the outfit, but I can maybe see him rolling with his posse. Let me just say this: tight pants, perms and braces, and that doesn't get the ladies going crazy, I don't know what will."

New Music!
Rejoice! Prince will perform. "He does a new song. He performs an ...
