Chicago Rapper Lil Marc Dead After Shooting

Underground Chicago rapper Marc “Lil Marc” Campbell is dead after being shot in the head on Friday.

According to reports, the 20-year old rising rapper was shot at approximately 1:30 p.m. while standing near a bus stop, reports DNAInfo.com. Lil Marc was an admitted member of the local 051 Young Money gang, which has no relation to Lil Wayne and his label. His death came days after he put out a controversial music video

On Tuesday, Marc released his “No Competition” music video, where he mocked a rival crew OTF, while he and his crew waved firearms. OTF, which stands for Only the Family, is a popular crew in Chicago. In 2012, Lil Durk and Lil Reese released the track “O.T.F.,” in honor of the crew. Footage of Reese was also edited into in the “No Competition” video. It is unclear whether the music video was a motive in Marc’s death.

This incident is just the latest in a string of drama which has plagued Chicago youth and many of the city’s underground and aspiring rappers. Earlier this month, 17-year-old RondoNumbaNine was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a cab driver.

Chief Keef has also made headlines recently. The “I Don’t Like” rapper was questioned by police last week after a shooting in his manager’s home in Northfield, Illinois.
