Chris Brown, Rick Ross Find Love In The Club On New Single: Listen Now

Say what you will about Chris Brown and all of the troubles he’s faced outside of the studio, but through it all, the embattled singer continues to churn out top-notch tunes. His latest, “New Flame,” features rap bawse Rick Ross.

Set to a bouncy synth line, the song surfaced on YouHeardThatNew.com on Wednesday (March 5), and may or may not be a track off of Breezy’s delayed X LP. That project has been stalled by multiple pushbacks, but no matter where the track lands, the new song is no less potent.

On “New Flame,” a ready-for-love Brown sings while standing on the dance floor, trying to woo a young lady into coming home with him … for life. “Who says you can’t find love in the club? / ‘Cause I wanna tell them they’re wrong,” Chris sings.

The heartfelt track feels like a toss to Chris’ teenage years, back when he sang about puppy love on songs like “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” and “Poppin.” It’s quite the opposite of his naughty X single “Love More,” featuring Nicki Minaj. With no overt sexual references on “New Flame,” Brown serves up some of that boyish charm that he came into the game with.

“There can be one, only you / ‘Cause, baby, God could never make two,” he sweet-talks.

It isn’t entirely clean-cut though. Ross goes for the gusto mixing baseball and bedroom metaphors, reminding you he’s a hit with the ladies. “Baby I’mma boss/ I’m talking George Steinbrenner,” he raps, referencing the late New York Yankees owner.

X was originally slated to be released in 2013, but while Brown found success with lead single “Fine China,” the album was subject to numerous setbacks and is now scheduled for a May 5 release.

Brown continues to make headlines for things other than music in the lead-up to his sixth album. He’s currently in an anger management and drug rehab program and was recently diagnosed with a bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, according to Los Angeles Superior Court documents that were released last week.
