Chris Brown Says He And Drake ‘Can’t Walk Around Holding Grudges’

(Chris Brown on his relationship with Drake)

For a while, it seemed like Chris Brown and Drake would be on the outs forever — but if Nas and Jay made peace, they could do it too, right? The two hitmakers finally buried the hatchet this summer, then did the best thing possible: they hit the studio.

So far, we haven’t heard the product of those sessions, but CB tells MTV News that it’s coming soon, and they plan on working together “continuously.”

Breezy explained that he and Drake didn’t have a very formal conversation to patch things up — and, no, Rihanna didn’t come up. They simply acknowledged that it was time to leave their differences in the past. “We’re young, so it’s not like [we had] a pow wow over tea or nothing,” he told MTV News’ Sway Calloway on Thursday (September 11). “It didn’t need to be explained. It wasn’t no problem.”

After that initial photo of them in the studio surfaced, Brown took it a step further by appearing in Drake’s ESPYs skit, where they poked fun of themselves. “[Drake’s] camp actually called me to do the skit. Especially after getting out of jail, I didn’t have any animosity towards anybody,” he said.

“I wanted to be able to bring light to the situation and just grow up. I’m 25 and I’m not getting younger. You can’t walk around holding grudges, looking over your shoulder and being negative all the time. I’m tired of being looked at as the aggressor, so I just wanted to show my maturity.”

It’s too bad that his album X was already completed, though, or else Chris says that we might’ve heard Drake on the project. But, no worries, there’s still good news.

“Working on music is something we’re gonna continuously try to do and make happen,” he revealed. “I know it’ll be a big thing for the fans if they hear a song –- but it has to be the right song, for both of us, at the end of the day.”

They’re clearly vibing off one another at the moment, and maybe they’ll learn a couple things from each other. During one of their sessions, Drake pointed out that he usually works with a producer, in a chill environment, but he liked the way Breezy was doing it better.

“When we were in the studio [Drake] was like, ‘Oh, man, I need to have my studio like this,”’ Brown explained. “My vibe is a little different — I like to have a party. It’s like the club in my studio with 15 or 20 girls, a couple of my homies, drinks and everybody’s having fun. I just get the vibe off the energy from them.”
