Dom Kennedy Shows Off A ‘Different Style’ Of L.A. In ‘Still Callin’ Video

Los Angeles is picture perfect, no wonder so many rappers, from Dr. Dre to Snoop, have chosen to showcase the city’s sunny backdrop in their music videos.

Dom Kennedy has given us his fair share of a picturesque L.A., but on his latest clip for “Still Callin’,” the Leimert Park MC switched things up. “One thing that I never really showed people that I always wanted to was night time [in Los Angeles],” Dom told MTV News.

On Sunday, Kennedy premiered the video for “Still Callin’ ” on MTV Jams as its Jam of the Week. The clip is a different look for Dom, who moves throughout the Cali club scene with his OPM crew. On the song, which appears on the rapper’s latest independent album Get Home Safely, he scrolls through a mental rolodex of ex-girlfriends. “The player president, no failed attempts/ Trying to get these girls back to the hotel and sh–,” he raps of his freewheeling lifestyle.

” ‘Watermelon Sundae,’ ‘My Type of Party,’ those are some of my best videos that people watch and enjoy and always tell me, ‘Aww man it reminds me of L.A., ‘” Dom said of his past discography. “We have fun at night time too. I just wanted to show people that indoor of L.A. too. It’s a different style of L.A., with the same vibe.”
