Eminem And Spike Lee Join Forces For ‘Headlights’ Video

Eminem isn’t finished rolling out visuals for his Marshall Mathers LP 2 album just yet, and it looks like the next video fans can expect is “Headlights.”

This weekend Shady made a rare appearance on Instagram (he’s up to a whopping 43 posts, currently) to share a photo of himself and Spike Lee on set, with the caption, “Spike came out to The D for the “Headlights” video…Coming soon.”

Obviously Em didn’t give away too much about the clip, since the photo was just a close-up of himself and the famed director, posing in front of a car. If Spike Lee is directing though, things should get pretty interesting. In addition to classic films like ‘Do the Right Thing,” Lee has also directed music videos that include Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power,” and Naughty by Nature’s “Hip Hop Hooray,” and Eminem gives him plenty of lyrical ammunition on “Headlights.”

Em has spent almost a decade warring with his mother Debbie Mathers, over the course of several albums, but on “Headlights” he finally makes peace with her. “Ma, you’re still beautiful to me because you’re my mom,” he spits on the track. “I love you, Debbie Mathers.”

“Headlights” will follow Eminem and Rihanna’s “Monster” video, which was released in December. Last week the Detroit native gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the clip, where his manager Paul Rosenberg initially calls up to leave a voicemail explaining the concept of the video.

Stay tuned for “Headlights.”
