‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot Cast Revealed

The leads of the new “Fantastic Four” was the casting news that much of the comic book world had waiting for, and it’s actually kind of appropriate that it all came at once.

The Wrap has revealed that Marvel’s iconic quartet will be played by Miles Teller (“Divergent”), Kate Mara (“House of Cards”), Michael B. Jordan (“Fruitvale Station”) and Jamie Bell in Fox’s reboot of the series, which is set to debut in theaters in 2015.

As it’s long been rumored, Teller and Jordan will play Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic and Johnny Storm a.k.a the Human Torch, respectively. Mara had only recently been mentioned as one of the actresses testing for the role of Sue Storm the Invisible Woman, which also included Emmy Rossum and Saoirse Ronan.

The biggest surprise here would have to be Bell in the role of Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing. “Frozen” star Josh Gad was rumored for the part, causing some uneasiness among fans, but director Josh Trank eventually shot down the speculation. Now that Bell has apparently locked the role, there’s already talk that he’ll perform motion capture after Grimm’s rocky transformation.

The cast for the reboot is noticeably younger than that of Fox’s first two attempts at adapting the Marvel team for the big screen. Those films starred Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis and future Captain America Chris Evans.

Trank’s previous experience includes the hit superhero found footage film, “Chronicle,” which also starred Jordan.

Production on the reboot is scheduled to start soon in Louisiana.

“The Fantastic Four” will open in theaters on June 19, 2015.
