‘Full House’ Cast Reunites In Jimmy Fallon’s Bedroom

If you ever wanted to know what happened to predictability, the milk man and the paper boy, look no further than evening TV — specifically, last night’s edition of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” which featured an impromptu .

Danny Tanner, Jesse Katsopolis and Joey Gladstone reunited to offer the outgoing “Late Night” host some life lessons and advice as he prepares to become the new head honcho over at “The Tonight Show.” The madness begins with Fallon waking up in the middle of the night, in a bedroom that looks an awful lot like Michelle Tanner’s old room. Cue the arrival of Danny, Uncle Jesse and Joey, all played by original actors Bob Saget, John Stamos and Dave Coulier — all of them older, but no less wiser, than they were in their “Full House” heyday.

“Everything’s going to be fine,” Uncle Jesse says as reassuringly as possible. “You’re leaving ‘Late Night,’ but you’re taking over ‘The Tonight Show.’ Do you have any idea how cool that is?”

But that’s not enough for Fallon, who says he’s still going to miss “Late Night.” “I’ve been doing this for five years,” he says. “So many special moments. So many great musical guests. Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen …”

“…Jesse and the Rippers,” Jesse reminds him.

“Yeah, they were okay,” Fallon sulks. “I think they were lip-syncing.”

There’s a lot more where that came from as the scene wears on, with all three of the “Full House” characters playing to their familiar strengths. It’s just the latest team-up for Saget, Stamos and Coulier, as the three staged a “Full House” reunion for a Super Bowl commercial premiering on Sunday.

As it turns out, there have been a few other impromptu “Full House” reunions over the years, even if they weren’t as well-publicized as the “Late Night” and Super Bowl stints. During a Reddit AMA, Stamos and Saget revealed that they once reprised their characters in a public restroom, as a way of spooking a nearby fan.

“We started talking in character as Jesse and Danny and I turned to John and said in character, ‘How’s it going, Jess’ and he said ‘It’s going bad, Nicky and Alex won’t sleep,'” recalled Saget, “and the guy next to us, we think he peed all over himself.”

“John then said to me, ‘How’s it going for you Danny,'” he continued, “and I said ‘Oh, I’m having trouble, the ratings on Wake Up San Francisco are slipping’ and THAT’S when the guy peed all over himself.”

One can hope that all of this recent “Full House” activity means that a full-fledged resurrection is on the horizon. But at the very least, it’s a happy reminder of how much we’ve missed our old familiar friends, waiting just around the bend.
