‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’: 6 Things We Need To See In The Trailer

According to a number of sources, the first trailer for Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is coming soon and clocks in at two minutes and 23 seconds.

Obviously, this is one of our most anticipated movies of the year, so expectations are high for the sci-fi epic starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Batista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel with James Gunn directing. If the trailer is on its way, there are a few things we’d love to see in the first preview.

Chris Pratt Excellence
Marvel knocked it out of the park by casting Andy Dwyer from “Parks and Recreation” as their newest big screen hero. Any fan of the shows that Pratt can turn just about any sentence in a memorable line, so what we want to see if Pratt doing what he does: being awesome.

Rocket and Groot Speak
Now that we know who will voice the talking raccoon and tree — Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, respectively — it’s time to pay off the promises of the casting news. Both hires were exciting in their own right and including the A-listers as prominent members of the team, even in voice form, will do a lot to get the uninitiated excited.

Thanos
The big purple guy is a bit of an enigma at this point. “The Avengers” teased the Mad Titan’s presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Gunn has confirmed his presence in “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Yet we don’t know who is playing him or how significant his role will be. Any kind of insight from the trailer would be greatly appreciated.

Outer Space Action
Think “Gravity” but with more talking raccoons. If Marvel is heading into the farthest reaches of the galaxy, shouldn’t they be taking full advantage of the location?

Cosmo
This one might be a bit of a stretch, but in the 2008 run of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the team had a headquarters called Knowhere, which was supervised by a talking dog in a Soviet space suit named Cosmo. If Marvel is willing to make a movie featuring a talking raccoon, is a talking dog asking all that much more from the audience?

Guardians Assembled
When MTV News spoke with Pratt last week, he confirmed that while “Guardians of the Galaxy” isn’t a superhero movie, it does include at least one iconic team shot that should be reminiscent of this perfect scene.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” opens in theaters on August 1.
