Yeezus Will Crush J. Cole, Mac Miller On June 18, Mac Predicts

Hip-hop fans will have some serious choices to make on June 18. Next Tuesday Kanye West, J. Cole, Mac Miller and Statik Selektah will all be dropping albums, but on Wednesday’s (June 12) “RapFix Live,” Mac downplayed any notion of a sales battle.

“Outselling the competition? Nah I do not care at all,” he told show host Sway Calloway about next week’s release for his sophomore album, Watching Movies With the Sound Off.

“I’ll tell you who’s gonna have the best first week: Kanye West,” he continued, placing a bet on Yeezus, even though he tweeted last week that he thought Hunter Hayes’ Encore would also be in contention.

“It’s Kanye. If some crazy thing happens, then maybe, but it’s Kanye West, bruh. He should have the best first week, but the first week isn’t really what matters,” Mac said.

Miller went on to praise Statik Selektah, who DJ’d “RapFix Live” this week and handed out free shirts to promo his Extended Play album, but ultimately, he is looking past the first week. “I think we’re passed that,” he argued. “What I’m looking to do with my album is trying to have it last 10, 20, 30, 40 years. That’s what I want to make. I want to make something that people can listen to for a while.”

So whether it’s Kanye West’s Yeezus or J. Cole’s Born Sinner or even his own Watching Movies, Mac is focused on making the biggest impact he can, over time. “It’s not a big deal with me,” he ended.
