Justin Bieber Post-Arrest Pee Test Video Coming Soon: Is That Even Legal?

By now, we’ve seen plenty of Justin Bieber
 partying shirtless in clubs
and flexing while getting patted down by police in Miami after his arrest in January on DUI and resisting arrest charges
.

But if the Miami Police Department have their way, you’re going to see way, way more of Bieber than ever. After putting out 18 new photos of Bieber taken after his January 23 arrest earlier this week, they are now prepping an even more revealing video of the incident.

According to E! Online, police will soon unleash two video clips in which Bieber will be seen taking a urine test. The 20-year-old singer, who was charged with DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license in the incident, has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

That got us thinking: is that even legal? “We support the use of cameras in police departments in the case of any police misconduct,” said Amy Turkel, the director of communications for the ACLU of Florida. “In this case there is a blurring of the lines in terms what acts are public or private.”

Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield said this week that he has approved the release of two as-yet-unseen police videos of the Bieber arrest once they’ve been redacted to remove the singer’s private parts. Those videos reportedly show Bieber’s exposed genitals as he takes a urine test for drugs.

While Altfield agreed with Justin’s legal team that the release of the video would be an invasion of privacy, he said the public’s right to know outweighed that violation. “Mr. Bieber’s right to privacy is paramount,” Altfield said. “He has not lost his right to privacy, and that is what is important here.”

Though Turkel does not have first-hand knowledge of the Bieber case and the ACLU is not involved in it, she said that the judge’s decision in the matter appears correct. “In this case, peeing is a private act,” she said. “But they did the right thing in redacting [the clip]. Those things are recorded for a purpose. This is public information and there is no harm done in releasing it.”

A spokesperson for the Miami Police Department could not be reached for comment at press time.

At the time of his arrest, Bieber told police that he’d smoked marijuana, had a beer and taken prescription drugs
before getting behind the wheel of his rented Lamborghini.

Earlier videos showed Bieber trying to walk a straight line
in the Miami jail during a sobriety test, getting booked and patted down
.
