Justin Timberlake To Perform At BET Awards

Before Justin Timberlake kicks off his Legends of the Summer tour with Jay-Z in late July, the platinum-selling pop star will take the stage to perform at the BET Awards.

The annual awards show will broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on June 30. Timberlake is slated to perform music from his recent album, The 20/20 Experience, which includes the hit single “Suit & Tie,” featuring Jay-Z.

The performance was announced via BET’s Twitter account on Thursday night, with a message that read, “Justin Timberlake, yes you read right, Justin Timberlake (@Jtimberlake) will be performing at the 2013 #BETAwards!!!!!!!!”

Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience projects are produced by Timbaland, and he’s recently been spotted in the studio with Jay-Z and Nas as well, leaving fans wondering whether music from those sessions might end up on The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2) album, which is scheduled to drop in September.

In March, The 20/20 Experience debuted at #1 on the albums chart, selling 968,000 copies in week one, led by the singles “Suit & Tie” and “Mirrors.” No word yet on what exactly JT will perform at the BET Awards, but maybe Hov will join him like he did at the Grammy Awards.

Additional performers at the June 30 show will include Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and Mariah Carey, while Chris Tucker will host the festivities.

Drake currently leads the pack with 12 nominations at this year’s show. He makes an especially strong showing in the Video of the Year category, where he’s nominated for his own singles “HYFR” and “Started From the Bottom” in addition to his collaborations on tracks like Kendrick Lamar’s “Poetic Justice” and 2 Chainz’s “No Lie.”
