Kesha Swore ‘Dr. Luke Never Made Sexual Advances’ In 2011

Last week, Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke, claiming that he had abused and, in one instance, sexually assaulted her in the years that they had worked together.

Newly unsealed court documents from the past, however, appear to contradict those allegations, at least if taken at face value.

“Dr. Luke never made sexual advances at me,” the “Timber” singer, born Kesha Rose Sebert, is quoted swearing under oath in a deposition from 2011.

She was in the middle of a legal battle with her former management company, DAS Communications, which had sued her and Luke in 2010 over a contractual dispute and alleged owed finances.

The 27-year-old artist denied that she and Dr. Luke — a.k.a. Lukasz Gottwald, the man who executive-produced her second studio album, Warrior — had ever had an “intimate relationship.”

She also denied that he had ever given her coke or roofies, although she said she didn’t know whether he had ever given her “drugs that are not purchasable at the pharmacy.”

When asked if she had ever woken up in his hotel bed, unable to recall what had happened, she answered: “I don’t remember.”

In another deposition, Kesha’s mother, Pebe Sebert, denied prior knowledge of a sexual relationship between her daughter and Luke. She also denied ever hearing about the producer supplying Kesha with drugs of any kind.

These statements are relevant to Sebert and Gottwald’s present legal battles because they appear to contradict the former’s allegations against the latter: being forced to snort substances, contacting her mother to tell her what had happened, etc.

Although it should be noted that Kesha never denied waking up in Luke’s hotel bed with no memory of how she got there. When asked if such an incident occurred, she answered: “I don’t know.”

Additionally, sexual assault does not equal an “intimate relationship,” so Kesha’s denial of an intimate relationship with Luke does not negate the possibility of abuse having transpired.

Last week, Mark Geragos, Kesha’s lawyer, told TMZ that he believes his client has suffered for “10 years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault.”

Luke’s legal representation, Christine Lepera, countered that the lawsuit amounts to a “campaign of publishing outrageous and untrue statements” on Kesha’s part.

Claims of bullying and abuse are nothing new when it comes to Kesha and Dr. Luke’s working relationship. The singer’s mother told People that she believed the producer’s behavior contributed, at least in part, to the eating disorder her daughter sought treatment for earlier this year.
