‘Kick-Ass 2’ Star Chloe Grace Moretz Reveals Hit-Girl’s One Fear

In “Kick-Ass 2,” Hit-Girl can handle anything thrown her way — including a six-foot Russian bodybuilding villain named Mother Russia — but there’s one thing that 16-year-old actress Chlõe Grace Moretz just isn’t ready to tangle with: teenagers.

After bringing the horrors of high school to life in two back-to-back films — “Kick-Ass 2” and the upcoming remake of “Carrie” — Moretz told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz that she’s quite happy with her homeschool lifestyle. “I’m happy I’m not in high school in real life [after making those movies],” said Moretz. “I’m happy I’m not having to have to walk through high school. Teenagers, I’m telling you, they terrify me. They scare me.”

Being a teenager herself, Moretz eased off her position a bit, saying that not every teenager scares her. “My fans are sweet, but some, especially private school teenagers, are very scary,” clarified Moretz. “They’re just very serious.”

Things are bound to get more serious for Moretz, though, as she nears her own high school graduation. It looks like Hit-Girl may be on her way to higher education, as Moretz said that she’s “contemplating doing early college stuff.”

Unlike most 16-year-olds, though, Moretz has a career in full-swing. In addition to appearing in the two “Kick-Ass” films, she’s also earned critical and commercial success with her roles in “Hugo,” “(500) Days of Summer,” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” as well as a recurring role as Alec Baldwin’s nemesis on the sitcom “30 Rock.” That career even includes getting one of her wishes for Hit-Girl granted in “Kick-Ass 2” — for Hit-Girl to hop on a Ducati bike.

“I didn’t ride it. I sat on it once. It was so depressing.” But the bike, it turns out, was just a means of expressing Hit-Girl’s character.

“With the character — speaking artistically — I wanted to show who [Hit-Girl’s alter-ego] Mindy Macready was,” explains Moretz. “I wanted to show who the girl behind the mask and behind the wig is. I think that’s what we missed with the first film. All we saw was Hit-Girl. I think we really need to see who Mindy Macready is.”

“Kick-Ass 2” opens in theaters on August 16.
