‘Kill Bill 3’: Uma Thurman Is Waiting On Tarantino, Just Like Us

In the last few years, Quentin Tarantino has pretty much completely cooled on the idea of returning to his character The Bride for a “Kill Bill Vol. 3.” Back when the two-parter was originally hitting theaters, the writer-director talked about possibly catching up with Beatrix Kiddo down the road once Vernita Green’s daughter catches up with her.

That was the idea until about the time Tarantino started rewriting history with “Inglourious Basterds” and “Django Unchained.” In an interview with MTV News, he said that he felt like he had accomplished his mission with two volumes. “I think I killed Bill,” he said. “I don’t know. I could change my mind about it, but I don’t know. It’s looking like not.”

But Tarantino, while obviously a huge factor in the “Kill Bill Vol. 3” equation, is only half of the creative team behind The Bride.

Uma Thurman, the actress who played Kiddo, is the other part, but I spoke with her at press day for Lars Von Trier’s newest movie, “Nymphomanic,” — which she is amazing in, by the way — she stressed that it’s Tarantino’s decision to make.

“Ultimately, of course, it’s a Quentin Tarantino call because he would have to decide to do it,” she said. “He’s so full of bean and ideas that he’ll either have the lightning bolt of inspiration about it or he won’t. So who knows? When the fat lady sings, we shall know.”
So for now, the answer remains the same. Until Tarantino changes his mind about a third “Kill Bill,” we’re just going to have to enjoy the existing masterpiece.

“Nymphomanic: Volume 1” opens in theaters on March 21. It’s currently available to stream.
