Kristen Stewart: ‘I Stand By Every Mistake’

Kristen Stewart‘s every move has been publicized, scrutinized and analyzed. And, for the most part, the “Twilight” actress has kept mum … until now.

In the March issue of Marie Claire, Stewart gets frank, opening up about making mistakes in the public eye, falling in love and how she’s fully aware that people think she’s “awkward.”

The interview shows the “Twilight” star in a whole new light, so we rounded up some key quotes from her candid cover story.

Go Ahead And Judge Me
Stewart came under fire back in 2012 after she cheated on then-boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her “Snow White and the Huntsman” director, Rupert Sanders. Stewart issued a public apology and she and RPattz eventually reconciled before splitting for good last year.

Though Stewart doesn’t directly address the cheating scandal, she does admit to the magazine that she has no regrets about slip-ups she’s had in the past: “I stand by every mistake I’ve ever made. So judge away.”

She Can’t Help Who She Loves
In 2013, a newly single Stewart grabbed some down time for herself. She took road trips with friends, wrote poetry and reflected on her love life before coming to the conclusion that you can’t control your heart.

“You don’t know who you will fall in love with. You just don’t. You don’t control it,” she says. “Some people have certain things, like, ‘That’s what I’m going for,’ and I have a subjective version of that. I don’t pressure myself. If you fall in love with someone, you want to own them — but really, why would you want that? You want them to be what you love. I’m much too young to even have an answer for that question.”

She Knows She’s “Awkward”
Stewart has had her fair share of uncomfortable moments (haven’t we all?), but unfortunately for her, they’ve been in the spotlight. But the difference with the actress is that she embraces it. “I’m just not very good on TV, and it’s not my main goal in life to get good at it,” Stewart explains. “People are like, ‘She just can’t handle’ — for lack of a better word — ‘the spotlight.’

On Whether She Wants To Have Kids
Stewart got some practice for motherhood during filming for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 2,” and she wants to put those skills to use … some day.

“I had it too good [as a child] to not have that too [for my own kids]. If I were to put money on it, definitely, yeah. But you earn that, like, that’s so not here yet,” she adds. “I mean, at this point, I can’t tell you if I want to hang out on Saturday.

She Just Says ‘No’
Unlike some of her famous peers, Stewart is opting to say no to drugs: “I’m such a control freak. I’m glad I grew up in this era because I think if I grew up in my parents’ age of drugs and discovery and crazy shit, I don’t think I would do drugs well.”

She Has No Idea What She’s Doing
Though Stewart’s initial bad luck at auditions briefly made her consider giving up acting in her tween years, she stuck with it and it’s panned out pretty well for her. (Casting directors apparently thought 8-year-old Stewart looked like a boy.) Still to this day, she says she has “no idea” what she’s doing.

“I had no idea ‘Twilight’ was going to be huge. Certain movies I’ve done I thought were going to be amazing did nothing,” she remarks. “So it’s fun not having so much control.

“It’s kind of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants lifestyle — it’s fun, but it’s scary as f—. If it’s not scary, it’s usually — you kind of have to step back and go, ‘You’re probably making this decision because it’s right on paper.’ But unless you get that irking fear, it’s not right.”
