Mac Miller Admits He Feels Like A Mermaid Sometimes

Change is good, and no matter what you think about Mac Miller‘s new pink hairdo, the Most Dope general made the switch for all the right reasons.

“What prompted me to dye my hair was the wonders of life and all of its mystical creations and the magic in just trying new things,” Mac told MTV News last week when we asked the question that’s been on everyone’s mind.

Mac revealed the new ‘do on Instagram in January and has been pulling off the look ever since. Maybe there was a deep hidden meaning behind the color change? Or maybe Mac just did it on a whim, but we wanted to get to the bottom of it. Turns out he actually wanted to get more in tune with his aquatic self.

“It’s like going out and I just feel like I’m a mermaid sometimes,” he said with a straight face. “So I just wanted to get my fins wet, to be honest.”

We’re pretty sure he was joking. And though he’s rocking a different hair color, one thing that hasn’t changed is Miller’s passion for the music. Last week, the Pittsburgh MC sang a cover of Bright Eyes’ somber 2004 track “Lua.” On Monday, he got back to rap with “Diablo,” a tightly woven stream of lyrical consciousness.

“It’s the rap diablo, macho when I drop flows/ Bar gets raised up, it’s me and Petey Pablo,” he raps, referencing the North Carolina spitter who made it big with his 2001 single “Raise Up.”

For the duration of the three-minute track, Mac draws random comparisons to the Mystery Men, Yoda, Charlie Conway, Pistol Pete and The Biebs. “I’ve been poppin’ like a kernel reading Justin Bieber’s journal,” he spits.
