Mister Cee Gets Honest About Prostitution Troubles

Back in September, Mister Cee used his popular “Throwback At Noon” show on New York’s Hot 97 radio station to address his ongoing struggle with prostitution, and in a new interview with GQ, the legendary hip-hop DJ opens up even further.

Cee played a pivotal role in the early careers of artists such as Jay Z and the Notorious B.I.G., but over the last year his personal issues began to overshadow his work, especially following an arrest for soliciting sex from an undercover male officer. Things got worse when a YouTube video surfaced containing audio of Cee soliciting the services of a transsexual.

He explained to GQ that the trouble began when he started having sex with strippers outside of the clubs, and “around 2005, 2006” he found himself deep in the throes of prostitution, not far from Hot 97’s main offices in New York. “The best way I can explain it is that I was so knee-deep into doing it that it became a part of me,” he said. “It’s also the rush of: Get horny, A and B — you know, one plus one equals two. You get horny, go out, go get your sh– off. It became a part of my routine. Even though I was fearful, there was a part of me that felt invincible, too.”

Mister Cee was worried about how his career would be affected if the news became public. “It wasn’t even about losing the job. I was just afraid of what the perception was going to be about me and that people was still going to want to stand behind the Mister Cee brand,” he explained. “How was I going to be able to continue to support and take care of the people that I care about?”

When the news eventually surfaced, Cee didn’t have an easy time dealing with the fallout. “I would buy two-liter Fanta Orange, two liter Sprite, two-liter root beer — and I live by myself — just guzzling them,” he revealed. “That’s how I was getting through my pain, f—ing going to sleep and drinking soda. And I’m not even a soda drinker. I drunk so much soda to the point where my diabetes — my sugar level went so high, I started getting blind.”

Although Mister Cee has admitted to receiving fellatio from transgendered individuals, he firmly maintains that he is heterosexual, but not currently interested in carrying on a monogamous relationship. “At this point in my life, I can’t even begin to try to be in a serious relationship with a woman,” he said. “That’s the point that I’m at now: What do I want? Where am I at? Now that it’s out in the open–everybody knows, I know–where am I going from here?”

As he tries to move forward, he’s well aware that another slip-up will have more severe repercussions than public backlash. “If I get arrested right now for that same type of activity, I’m doing sixty days in jail, hands down, done.”

Mister Cee’s troubles even ended up as a punch line on the track “Forbidden Fruit” from J. Cole’s Born Sinner album (“The same reason they call Mister Cee “the Finisher”/Forbidden fruit, watch for the Adam’s apple!” Cole spits), but there’s no love lost. “J. Cole, if you’re reading this: I have forgiven you for the ‘Forbidden Fruit’ line, and we can move on,” Cee told GQ.
