Oscar Dress Rehearsals: See 21 Hot Looks At The Independent Spirit Awards

Let’s just call the red carpet for tonight’s Independent Spirit Awards the dress rehearsal for the 2014 Oscars: It’s the last time the stars will strut their stuff before the Oscars on Sunday (March 2).

Celebs walked a blue carpet under a tent at Santa Monica beach due to stormy weather at the annual bash. The fashion at the Indie Spirit Awards, while still displaying up-to-the-second styles and boldface designer labels, is a bit more, well, independent than that of the Oscars. Consider this your best chance to see your favorite star in a couture crop top.

Here are our picks for the 21 best looks to light up the penultimate red carpet of awards season.

Shailene Woodley
Best Female Lead nominee Shailene Woodley grabbed an aqua crop top and maxi skirt ensemble for the occasion.

Anna Kendrick
We’ll miss Anna Kendrick’s asymmetrical white frock with a pop of blue when it’s gone. (We’re gonna miss it by its hair, we’re gonna miss it everywhere, oh, we’re gonna miss it when it’s gone.)

Jared Leto
The Best Supporting Male winner stepped out with a tres 90s plaid shirt tied around his waist.

Michael B. Jordan
The “Fruitvale Station” star brought old-school style with a light suit and boldly patterned shirt.

Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita Nyong’o, who took home the award for Best Supporting Female, rocked a patterned romper on the carpet.

Jon Hamm
We weren’t mad to see “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm in a classic grey suit.

Rosario Dawson
The actress kept it basic in a colorblocked skirt and long-sleeve top ensemble.

Cate Blanchett
She’s no flower child: Cate Blanchett blossomed in a large floral print on the red carpet.

Jeremy Renner
Every day he’s hustlin’: “American Hustle” co-star Jeremy Renner brought a classic navy suit to the awards.

Zoe Kravitz
“Divergent” star Zoe Kravitz bugged out in this avant garde romper.

Greta Gerwig
Greta Gerwig, star of Best Feature nominee “Frances Ha,” looked great in a bright shift dress.

Lake Bell
We’re dotty for Lake Bell’s printed blue dress.

Krysten Ritter
Krysten Ritter stepped out in a form-fitting yellow and black sheath Saturday night.

Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell seems to have solved the mystery of how to pick a great awards show look.

Will Forte
“Nebraska” star Will Forte didn’t go for any funny business on the carpet in a classic dark suit.

Elisabeth Moss
Elisabeth Moss brought a touch of office style with a sharp white blazer.

Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon turned heads in a #D black and blue affair.

Forest Whitaker
Forest Whitaker looked smart in glasses and a tie.

Fred Armisen
Former “SNL” star Fred Armisen didn’t tie himself down.

Garrett Hedlund
Why so blue, Garrett Hedlund?

Octavia Spencer
Octavia Spencer’s blown-up lace pattern was a ladylike touch for the evening.
