Pharrell’s Adidas Collaboration Is Coming Sooner Than You Think

By now, you’re surely aware of the Stan Smith, aka the Shoe of the Year. Pharrell pretty much single-handedly resurrected it for 2014, showing up to events in custom pairs decked out with everything from Swarovski crystals to his own doodles. (Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the shoe has also gotten endorsements from Kanye and a pantsless Rihanna.) So, when news of Pharrell’s first collaboration with Adidas broke back in March, we had a sneaking suspicion that he’d be putting his own stamp on them in the near future.

The first images of his capsule collection with Adidas have surfaced thanks to Packer Shoes and, true to our prediction, it’s all about the Stan Smith. Instead of mass marketing his hand-painted style, Pharrell went with a sleeker approach, doing up the shoe in electric blue (and red, and black). The whole initial appeal of the Stan Smiths were its clean style, but leave it to Pharrell to jazz them up in eye-popping shades.

If you take a closer look at the insole, you’ll notice the cartoonish graphic done in the same style as Pharrell’s fragrance bottle for Comme des Garcon. There’s the Skateboard P we know.

In case you were worried about matching the shoes—which happen to be the perfect plug for his “Marilyn Monroe” video, which takes place, in part, in a room painted with the same blue and red—Pharrell went ahead and solved any future wardrobe question marks with three matching jackets. You’ll find a red one that looks just like the one he wore during his ~iconic outfit moment~ at this year’s Grammys, along with blue and black versions. But Pharrell put his twist on the Adidas staple by dressing them up in leather.

Unfortunately, it’s going to cost you to dress like Pharrell. The jackets, which were produced for limited availability, are going for $1,000 a pop at Packer Shoes. But the Stan Smiths are relatively more reasonably priced at $150 a pair. If you want them, you’re going to need to stay glued to your computer this Saturday, September 20, when both products launch at midnight. Or you can head over to Packer Shoes in person at noon to grab them.
