See Jennifer Lawrence’s New ‘X-Men’ Photos: Why So Blue?

Next year’s superhero movies have already begun to roll out previews and trailers to get audiences excited. Yesterday, we saw the thrilling first tease for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” but not to let their Marvel universe friends have all the fun, the X-Men will be coming soon with a look at “Days of Future Past.”

On Thursday, Bryan Singer shared a brief look at the trailer, which is set to debut on Tuesday, October 29. Today, both Empire and Entertainment Weekly have debuted images from the upcoming “X-Men: First Class” sequel, which also ties the prequel to the rest of the mutant-filled series.

The images include looks at Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine, this time hopping through time and meeting up with the younger versions of Professor X and Magneto, played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. The events of “Days of Future Past” take place after this summer’s “The Wolverine,” as you can see the self-healing mutant holding a katana and riddled with bullet holes.

The images also include two looks at Jennifer Lawrence returning as the shape-shifting Mystique. With a mutation that allows her to change her appearance, giving us both her natural blue-skinned form and one that looks a lot more like the Academy Award-winning starlet that we all know and love.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is a reunion of sorts for the superhero franchise. Singer isn’t the only one returning from the first two installments. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and many, many others are back.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” opens in theaters on May 23, 2014.
