Taylor Swift Goes H.A.M. On A Polaroid On ‘Out Of The Woods’

A picture might be worth a thousand words, but on Taylor Swift’s new song, that number drops down to seven: “Are we out of the woods yet?”

Released at midnight on Tuesday (October 14), “Out Of The Woods” finds the defender of Scottish Folds everywhere reminiscing while staring at an old Polaroid — and those memories aren’t pleasant.

Swift took the photo with an ex-boyfriend, who, according to her recent Rolling Stone cover story, might be Harry Styles of One Direction.

She describes how no matter what the two were doing — dancing like nobody’s watching, getting in snowmobile accidents, etc. — one thought always tagged along: “Are we out of the woods yet? Are we out of the woods yet? Are we out of the woods yet? Are we out of the woods?”

“This was a relationship where I was kind of living day to day,” the “Shake It Off” singer explains in a recent YouTube video. “It was a relationship where you kind of never feel like you’re standing on solid ground.”

According to Taylor, that feeling of instability is no more, and she has said that she has her strong, newfound friendships with women like Karlie Kloss and Lena Dunham to thank for it.

Dunham’s boyfriend, fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff, actually co-wrote and co-produced the song with Taylor. (Swedish Pop Lord Max Martin also lent a hand on the production.) The echoing, layered, synthpop sound of “Out Of The Woods” definitely brings to mind the ’80s-leaning material he produced as Bleachers earlier this year.

Well, I won’t be sleeping tonight. “Out Of The Woods” is the latest song released off of Taylor Swift’s upcoming fifth studio album, 1989, which is expected to drop on October 27.

Bad at filling out bios seeks same.
