Vanessa Carlton’s New Album Is Delayed Because Of A Baby Bump

Remember feeling all the feels to Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” back in the ancient year of 2002? Well, get ready to feel some more, because not only are we getting some new music from Vanessa next year, but the singer took to her Facebook and Twitter accounts today to announce her pregnancy!

In a quiet ceremony officiated by none other than Stevie Nicks, Vanessa married Rhode Island alt-country act Deer Tick’s lead singer John McCauley late last year. Now, the pair are expecting their first child. In more adorable couple news, they collaborated on a song called “In Our Time” for Deer Tick’s album Negativity last year, so odds are John will show up on Vanessa’s upcoming record Liberman too.

For now though, the focus is on the new member of their family. “I can now reveal the reason as to why Liberman will not be released until next summer,” Carlton wrote on her Facebook page. “No, those aren’t a bunch of croissants. We’re expecting a baby. It’s healthy and moving around like a champ. I’m bummed to delay the album because it’s so special to me and the perfect combination of England and Tennessee. When I put the record on it feels like medicine. I hope it does the same for you…in due time! Thanks for sticking with me. John, Victor and I are over the moon.”

But who is Victor you ask? That’s Vanessa Carlton’s long hair doxie, a very important member of the family. We wish all of them the best, and maybe we’ll get a teaser from the album soon! It doesn’t feel fair for Vanessa to keep all those feelings-laced songs to herself. In the meantime, we’ll always have “A Thousand Miles” and our memories of 2002.
