‘The Wolverine’: Reviews Are In!

In Hugh Jackman returns as the mega-jacked superhero, this time avoiding epic action in favor of a quiet, remote life in the wilderness. Perhaps needless to say, fate intervenes when a man from his past gets in touch and offers him the one thing that he cannot have: death. From there, he gets into a bunch of fights, finds a love whose life is constantly in danger, and is forced to decide whether or not he wants to live. Sounds like a cheerful film, huh?

Critics were mixed about the film's overall effectiveness but celebrated its complex and much more nuanced portrait of a superhero's life (and death). Keep reading to see what they're saying.

Hugh Jackman
"Thirteen years after his mutant debut in Bryan Singer's terrific 'X-Men,' Jackman, also a producer here, owns the Wolverine character. The charismatic Aussie has added some martial arts moves to his character's slice-and-dice repertoire, is buffer than ever and shows no sign of flagging." — Meghan Lehmann, The Hollywood Reporter

Real World Vs. Superhero World
"There have been films that tried to realistically portray what reality would be like if ordinary people put on a cape and mask ('Super' and 'Kick-Ass,' namely) but this reverses it. 'The Wolverine' doesn't show our world with a comic book injection, it shows a comic book world with an injection from our world." — Jordan Hoffman, Screencrush

Compared To 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'
"While hardly on par with Christopher Nolan's 'Batman Begins' trilogy, this movie represents Fox's attempt to repair damage done to the most iconic of those characters ...

After ‘Age Of Ultron’: What Does Marvel Have Planned For Phase Three?

Marvel Studios packed a lot into their San Diego Comic-Con panel last week. They brought out castmembers and showed footage from their next three movies: "Thor: The Dark World," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardians of the Galaxy," which had been shooting for about two weeks at that point. And they capped off the evening with Joss Whedon teasing the "Avengers" sequel, "Age of Ultron."

But, for some people, that still wasn't enough.

Fans speculated that Marvel Studios could unveil one or two yet-to-be-announced films at Comic-Con or, at the very least, preview Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man," the beginning of the so-called Phase Three, and when none of that took place, there was arguably a small sense of disappointment. Now, Marvel Studios co-president Kevin Feige, speaking with Collider, confirmed that we probably won't hear about solid Phase Three plans until this time next year at the earliest.

So, what can we expect from Phase Three, aside from "Ant-Man"? There are a few things we know for certain:

"Doctor Strange"
This tale of an egotistical neurosurgeon who severely damages his hands in an accident, then becomes the universe's greatest practitioner of magic was confirmed as a Phase Three film by Feige to MTV Splashpage in January. Since then, Feige has made no secret of the fact that "Doctor Strange" will happen; it's just a matter of when.

Not "Iron Man 4"
During the promotional circuit for "Iron Man 3," talk of Robert Downey Jr.'s contract with Marvel became a big topic of conversation. Would ...

Avril Lavigne Gives Winnie Cooper A ‘Rock N Roll’ Makeover: See A Sneak Peek!

Avril Lavigne has given Winnie Cooper a makeover! The singer has enlisted former "Wonder Years" actress turned New York Times bestselling author and mathematician Danica McKellar to star alongside her in the "Rock N Roll" video, which she shot Thursday.

In a photo posted on Twitter, McKellar — best known as the crush of Kevin Arnold (played by Fred Savage) on the late-'80s coming-of-age sitcom "The Wonder Years" — looks quite comfortable all done up like Lavigne. Her makeover to Avril levels of pop-punk came complete with heavy eye makeup, an ab-baring top, short shorts and bright-blue fishnets. Lavigne, who declares herself "the motherfreaking princess" on the track, isn't sporting a crown, but instead an army helmet and camo-green bustier.

How the two ladies know one another remains a mystery, but they have exchanged posts on Twitter about the clip. Lavigne shared, "My partner in crime @danicamckellar on the set today of my music video for #ROCKNROLL... Thank you @danicamckellar for acting in my video. You are beautiful and so sweet. We kicked butt today! #ROCKNROLL."

McKellar added, "Just had the best time shooting @AvrilLavigne's new video. And she is so sweet and fun! Made me feel like a rock star."

"Rock N Roll" is the second single from Lavigne's upcoming album, slated to drop in September. She also worked not only with her hubby, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, on her album, but also with Marilyn Manson.

No word on when the "Rock N Roll" video will hit the streets, but the single will hit iTunes on Tuesday. The song is the ...

Tomorrowland 2013 Lifts Off With Dance Party At 24,000 Feet: Watch Now!

BOOM, Belgium — The magical world of Tomorrowland teases an experience unlike any other festival. And this year, after 13,000 global journey packages sold out in just five hours, some lucky fans got to kick things off en route to the Belgian town that hosts the dance music experience.

In partnership with Brussels Airlines, organizers filled 29 Tomorrowland-themed flights with guests from every continent across the globe. In addition to the Tomorrowland party flights, there were 140 departures from 67 cities descending upon the Tomorrowland Brussels terminal for the fest, which officially launches Friday. Eight-thousand festival enthusiasts are expected to fly to Brussels this year, four times the amount that boarded for the 2012 edition.

MTV News headed down on one of the party flights, which included music, video projections of some of last year's performances, gifts compliments of the festival (like a watch from Belgian brand Ice) and, on two extra-lucky flights, a live DJ. For instance, festivalgoers leaving from Basel, Switzerland, got to spend their flight sipping champagne while watching Tomorrowland veteran Dimitri Vegas perform a live set. Finally, upon arrival in the Tomorrowland terminal, guests were shuttled to the home of the annual gathering in Boom.

"The increase in passenger numbers and countries [we] were able to service this year via global journey is a testament to the increasing international popularity of the festival," Get In PR's Toby Andrews, director of publicity for the fest, told MTV News. "To witness people landing into Brussels Airport from all corners of the globe was a real special moment and we're ...

Miley Mulls Chris Brown Face Tattoo, Booty-Grazing Ponytail

Miley Cyrus took her traveling twerk show to Germany this week, and somewhere in-between butt-tweeting a personal conversation with someone named FEFE and coming down with a mysterious illness, she managed to give an interview that seemingly focused on two things: Tattoos and hair.

First, Miley — no stranger to tats — joked that she's decided to get inked once again ... and this time, she's really going for it.

"Didn't one girl get 'Drake' across her forehead? That's crazy. That's a dedicated fan right there," she deadpanned. "I was thinking about maybe getting 'Chris Brown' across this cheek. It'd be really good for my career."

Of course, given that the interview took place in Germany, Miley's joke quickly smashed into the language barrier, and a local TV station presented it as fact (even doing a side-by-side comparison with Mike Tyson, who famously sports a Maori-inspired facial tat). And while we'll never actually see her with Breezy's name inked on her cheek, Miley wasn't joking when it came to another topic ... her much-discussed hair.

Seems that ever since she went with her punky, chunky cut, Cyrus has seen the look pop up everywhere, and though she realizes imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, she's hoping her locks return ASAP.

"Hopefully my hair grows really quick, and the next time you see me I'll have a pony down to my butt. I just want to always be different," she said. "Everyone else has cut their hair to look just like me, so now I gotta ...

Nicki Minaj Needs ‘To Sit That Ass’ On Khaled’s Lap, Rick Ross Says

Rick Ross and DJ Khaled have a bond that extends beyond the music. In fact, before Rozay was a Maybach Music boss, he and Khaled worked their respective records on the streets of Miami. But despite the pair's long history, even Ross was surprised by Khaled's marriage proposal to Nicki Minaj.

"It was some chatter going around, but I can't say that I knew, but it was some chatter," Ross told Los Angeles' Power 106 host Rikki Martinez in a new segment that aired on Friday (July 26). "Time to sit that ass on his lap."

On Thursday, Khaled asked MTV News to assist in the release of a special video aimed directly at the Young Money cash queen, and it quickly went viral. "Nicki Minaj, will you marry me?" the charismatic DJ asked, looking directly into our cameras while holding up a 10-karat, radiant cut diamond engagement ring valued at around $500,000.

Khaled's name trended for hours afterward on Twitter as some fans wondered whether the proposal was authentic. Did the "No New Friends" star really want to put a ring on it? Ross told the radio station he believes his buddy is all in. "He has a ring valued at about half-a-million dollars," Rozay reasoned.

The Maybach CEO went on to propose that if the two actually do get hitched, he'll get them a car — though a Maybach may be out of the question since the luxury vehicle went out of production in 2012. "If they tie the knot, I have to most definitely represent like ...
