Hugh Jackman Reveals Wolverine’s ‘Humiliating’ Beginnings

Hugh Jackman has played Wolverine more times than any other actor has played a superhero — a grand total of seven, counting his turn in the upcoming sequel "X-Men: Days of Future Past." But the actor says that he initially got off to an awkward start in the role after he interpreted the behavior of an entirely different animal into his performance.

"I'm going to tell you a very embarrassing story," Jackman told MTV News' Josh Horowitz at the recent press day for "The Wolverine." "When I got there, I had three weeks before filming, and we were in Toronto. Not knowing what a wolverine was, or that it was a real animal, I was going past the IMAX, and I saw this IMAX showing of wolves. I was like, well, a wolverine is a wolf sort of thing, so I went in there, and that was where I got this thing of [facing] down like wolves smelling the ground while I'm looking."

Jackman starting doing his learned wolf moves to give his performance an animalistic edge. But he said he quickly met resistance from his "X-Men" director, Bryan Singer, who wasn't a fan of those wolf traits.

"Bryan Singer said to me at one point: 'It's a little weird physically. But it's interesting,' " he remembered. "And I said, 'Yeah, man, I've been studying wolves and I think if we could bring that to the screen,' and he goes, 'You're not a wolf, man, you're a wolverine!' "

Remarkably, that isn't ...

Jay Z Rails Against Zimmerman Verdict

Although Jay Z "didn't sleep for two days" after the Trayvon Martin verdict, the rapper still maintains that our current generation of young people doesn't see color, and that gives him hope for the eventual mitigation of racism in our country.

When Hov recently sat down with hip-hop journalist Elliott Wilson, he expressed his distress over the verdict passed down on July 13, declaring George Zimmerman in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin.

"I was angry. I didn't sleep for two days," he said. "We all knew there was still a bit of racism in America but for it to be so blatant."

Jay also spoke about the prudence of Florida's Stand Your Ground Laws, scoffing, "You can have a fight with someone and they're running way, you can shoot them and kill them and you're fine? What?! Come on. Come on, man."

Despite his ire, however, Jay said that he thinks that the current crop of young people is much more evolved when it comes to racism. "This generation right now, they don't see color in that way," he said. "We're a bit removed from those racist feelings because again, it's hard to teach racism when your child is out [at] clubs. It's integrated and the music we listen to is the same."

Instead, Hov blames the "old guard and their old ideas and their stubborn ways and all that ego and that bullshit is still there, it still exists. You just hate to believe that."

Those sentiments closely match statements made by U.S. President Barack Obama during ...

In the sneak peek, he is pictured hanging out with "BTR" actress Ciara Bravo, who plays Katie Knight on the series. And, in another first look, the top hat-wearing heartthrob hangs out with the boy banders, who look to be approving of something by giving Mahone a bunch of thumbs (and fingers) up.

"This episode is a fitting ending to season four," Kendall Schmidt told MTV News in a statement. "We always try to go big, and we worked hard to make a finale that will make a lasting impression."

In addition to Mahone, the special will also feature appearances from Nick Cannon, Alexa Vega, Karmin, Mindless Behavior and Fabio. The episode revolves around the Tween Choice Awards, where the boy banders are nominated and booked to close the show. "I'm a big fan of MTV Jams because it plays music all day and exposes music that no one would otherwise know about."

Schoolboy Q, who is set to release his major-label debut album Oxymoron later this year is excited for the opportunity. "Thank you MTV Jams for having me, I swear on my life being on MTV was something I never thought would happen," he said in a statement. "So thanks again, for helping me with my goals."
