Jessica Simpson Gives Birth To Baby Boy Ace

It was just over year ago that Jessica Simpson gave birth to her daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson. And on Sunday (June 30), the pop star welcomed her first boy, Ace.

Ace Knute Johnson was delivered by C-Section in a Los Angeles hospital on Sunday, according to US Weekly, who confirmed the news with Simpson's rep.

This is the singer's second child with her fiancé, Eric Johnson, a former NFL player. Back in March, the 32-year-old former MTV star accidentally revealed the sex of her baby during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" as she described her difficult pregnancy.

"The crazy thing is I never knew a wiener could make me nauseous," she said laughing before immediately adding, "Well, I guess I just told the world that I'm having a boy!"

Most recently Simpson appeared as a mentor on the NBC style competition show "Fashion Star." The singer, actress and mom is next slated to star in an upcoming, semi-autobiographical NBC comedy. "I am so excited to work with Ben [Silverman] and NBC again, this time on a scripted comedy," Simpson told The Hollywood Reporter earlier in the year.

"I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life — so between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we'll have people laughing!"

Simpson and Johnson were engaged in the fall of 2010 but eventually delayed their wedding because of her pregnancies.

Robin Thicke, Pharrell, T.I. Drop Sexy Serenade For ‘Blurred Lines’ At BET Awards

With in the States and the U.K., months after its release, Robin Thicke got a chance to celebrate his success on Sunday night (June 30) when Pharrell and T.I. joined him to perform the single at the 2013 BET Awards.

Thicke brought his music video to life at the Nokia Theatre, performing against a backdrop of his name (and a hashtag) in giant red block letters — in case any viewers at home didn't know what they were in for. Dressed in a full suit and sunglasses, he was surrounded by a gaggle of models, much like the music video.

Pharrell was the first to join Thicke onstage, going for a more casual look in a bomber jacket, cuffed pants and dark sunglasses, singing the hook and shimmying around the stage to the amusement of the audience. And T.I. wasn't far behind Skateboard P, entering to a round of applause as he flirted with one of the models and delivered his verse. Thicke eventually made his way down into the crowd during the performance, opting to serenade a few guests who were within reach.

"Thanks for watching #BlurredLines on the #BETAwards, pre-order the new album now!" Thicke tweeted immediately after his set.

R. Kelly Surprises With A BET Awards Medley!

Robin and Pharrell recently parodied their popular video during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" but on Sunday night fans were happy with the original rendition.

Best performance so far robin thicke!," @LaanDadon wrote, while @KristinDior23 added, "Robin Thicke did amazing by the way" and @createtobefree chimed in ...

Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj Kick Off BET Awards With ‘Love More’

Chris Brown got the 2013 BET Awards off to an energetic start on Sunday night (June 30), opening the show with his infectious hit "Fine China," and showing some love to the late Aaliyah, before Nicki Minaj descended from the ceiling to debut their collab, "Love More."

Brown hit the stage with his backup dancers in tow, sporting a black leather jacket while all the members of his crew donned sweatshirts with a neon "X" across them, a nod to his upcoming July 16 album. For "Fine China," Breezy kept it thematic, with images of Chinese fire dragons and fire lanterns flashing across the LED screen behind him, as he delivered his usual flawless choreography.

As Breezy transitioned into his latest single, which features vocals from Aaliyah, he turned things down a notch. Black-and-white images of the late songstress appeared on the screen as he began to sing, "Don't let them tell you any different/ They don't know about us," and the stage eventually filled up with images of candles.

With his backup dancers suddenly equipped with torches as well, it looked as if Brown was hosting a candlelight vigil for the late R&B singer on the Nokia Theatre stage.

After a couple minutes of calm, however, Nicki Minaj made a guest appearance to help Brown wrap up his set. The YMCMB rapper descended from a platform in the ceiling, rapping from high above the crowd in her fitted black pants and silver-studded bustier. Nicki delivered her verse on Brown's new track, "Love More," which should appear on ...

Eminem Gets ‘Open And Forthcoming’ About Addiction In ‘How To Make Money Selling Drugs’

When a clip of Eminem discussing his addiction to prescription meds — and just how close that addiction came to killing him — began making the round earlier this week, it certainly helped elevate the profile of Matthew Cooke's "How To Make Money Selling Drugs," the documentary from which it came.

That was both good and bad, mind you ... after all, any publicity for a film is good, particularly one that tackles an issue as complex and controversial as the United States' seemingly endless War On Drugs. On the other hand, Em's interview, while eye-opening, represents just one small part of Cooke's sprawling film. Through interviews with drug dealers, DEA agents, legal experts, addicts and activist celebs (Woody Harrelson, Susan Sarandon and 50 Cent all appear in the film), he not only explains just how one can go about making substantial sums of cash in "the underground economy," but examines the far-reaching effects of U.S. drug policies, and wonders, rather matter-of-factly, if this is a war worth fighting any longer.

"In college, I studied the economic effects of the War on Drugs, and it hit me 'Wow, we're going about this in the wrong way.' So, about 15 years ago, I first had the idea to make this film," Cooke told MTV News. "But, at the same time, I knew it would be a challenge. Myself and [the film's co-producer, actor] Adrian [Grenier] had this running joke, where we didn't want to make a spanking documentary; we didn't want to make a 90-minute film that just spanks ...

‘Man Of Steel’: Filmmakers Reveal Visual Effects Secrets!

Weeks after the release of "Man of Steel," audiences are still marveling at the film's incredible technology — not just what was used to bring it to life, but the technology the characters have access to in the film. In a new featurette that posted Friday (June 28) on Wired.com, visual effects supervisors from the film discuss the Kryptonian technology that Jor-El — and later, his son Kal-El — used to explore the disintegrating planet from which they came.

"On Krypton they use a different technology for their displays, through this technology that we called liquid geo," Dan Lemmon explained, highlighting displays and other interfaces that use a liquid-mercury-esque material. "The way we accomplished the display shapes was through a combination of animation and simulation. Once that animation was finalized, the effects department would run simulations on top of that animation."

Joe Letteri, the senior visual effects supervisor, credited director Zack Snyder with conceiving of the idea. "He wanted to do something that was interesting and different in the way that you saw information presented," Letteri revealed. "He didn't just want to do a typical screen. You need something that has that look but has to be in a sense more liquid."

In the film, the liquid shows up first when Jor-El is on Krypton as he puts the finishing touches on the transport that carries Kal-El to Earth. Later in the film, Kal discovers a ship buried under the ice in a remote part of the world, where his alien birthright — a small device shaped like his family's ...

Why Was Channing Tatum Picked To Save America In ‘White House Down’?

After displaying his ample talents in last summer's hit movie "Magic Mike," it's easy to hypothesize why director Roland Emmerich enlisted him to save the president in his new film "White House Down." But Emmerich told MTV News that he really only decided to hire Tatum as his leading man after meeting him, because the only thing more appealing than a good-looking, physically capable actor is a good-looking, physically-capable actor who's genuinely nice.

‪"Channing did two very successful movies with Sony so he was on top of their list. And I said 'I like the guy, I really, really like him but I have to meet him'," Emmerich told MTV News' Josh Horowitz. "So I met him, and it was one of these moments where you meet somebody and you immediately hit it off with somebody. He's the nicest guy — totally down to earth, super smart and he looks like a million dollars."

Emmerich said Tatum demonstrated how effortlessly appealing he was by charming the waitress who attended to them during that first meeting. "When we were sitting in this restaurant he was super friendly to the waitress, which I always love when guys do that. She was gushing over him and then she [said] we didn't have to pay.... And he wanted to pay. I said, 'Let it go — you made her day'."

Meanwhile, "White House Down" has faced multiple comparisons to other action movies, particularly "Die Hard," as critics and audiences get an opportunity to see it. But Emmerich insists that the 1988 containment thriller did not in ...

One Direction Rock, Twerk And Do The Robot: Seven Fun Concert Moments!

WANTAGH, New York — If there hadn't been cars, limos and vintage VWs lined up for a mile down the street, arriving at Jones Beach on a hazy, cloudy Friday evening would've seemed like entering an abandoned shipyard on the coast of Long Island. But instead, One Direction fans, or, ahem, Directioners, hung out their windows, screaming frantically in the sea-salty air before finally reaching the theater. Take Me Home blared from car stereos and subwoofers.

When Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn and Niall emerged onstage later on, the sky let loose with rain, like it was special-effects confetti released from the ceiling. They started with "Up All Night" to kick off the concert, and although the crowd would probably only be out until curfew, 1D still took us well into the rainy night.

While we'd like to highlight every moment from the fivesome's tour stop — like the time Harry Styles told us all we were beautiful or when Louis' eyes twinkled on the big screen — here's the top seven fun moments. So, you know, we don't go too crazy with the swooning.

Dance Your Pants Off
One of the things that separates a modern boy band from those of a decade ago, is that you don't get all of the hyper-choreographed dance moves. But even though 1D stray away from jazz squares and "bye, bye, bye," they still have a groove of their own. Some favorites from the Jones Beach show include robotic hip thrusting, the swanky hip swings, air drumming and their signature rowboat move. Niall twerked a bit ...

Katy Perry Was On Lock For Bonnie McKee Vid, But What About George Takei?

Bonnie McKee proudly declares she's an on her high-energy debut single, which she dropped last Wednesday. But what makes the song so buzz-worthy is the video that goes along with it, thanks to the star-studded cameos.

Celebrities ranging from close pals like Katy Perry and Ke$ha to less expected ones, including Tommy Lee (in drag!), "Star Trek" star George Takei and legendary rock band Kiss, all appear in the clip. "I know that people when you're not somebody yet people are less likely to help out, so I was taking a chance hoping. I knew that Katy would support me and Ke$ha and everybody, my close friends, but some of the other ones are just a gamble. I'm still shocked actually," she explained to MTV News.

The songwriter/pop singer (who has penned tracks for Ke$ha and Perry, among others) opened up about tracking down the who's who of stars who ended up in the final cut.

"Well Kiss, I've known since I was a teenager. I had the same manager as Kiss for a long time back in the day. So I used to go backstage and hang out with them and they just always were big supporters of me," she explained. "They were kind enough to lend their iconic faces to the video, so they're like old-school friends of mine."

They aren't the only rockers in makeup; a dragged-out Tommy Lee also makes a memorable appearance, drumming and applying makeup. She said, "I know him through kind of the DJ circuit. So [my boyfriend and I] went on a rave ...

Drop City Yacht Club Will Bring ‘Surf And Fun’ To Hip-Hop Album

Drop City Yacht Club are storming the music scene so loudly this summer, you won't be hearing "Crickets." With their first single out, the California hip-hop trio has announced big plans for the release of their debut album this fall.

MTV News sat down and talked with Kristo, A Wolf and THX regarding their summer plans, which include everything from a tour, shooting new episodes for their YouTube series DCYC.TV and finishing up their album.

"We kind of want to keep it a secret but there's very cool surprises on the album," Kristo said. The guys say fans can expect to hear a wide-ranging influence: like if the Beastie Boys met the Beach Boys.

"Musically we've always kind of prided ourselves on doing different stuff, not really doing what anybody else was doing," A Wolf said. Weaving in aspects of laid-back California and the streets of New York, the whole idea was "to show a side of California that wasn't shown in hip-hop music... the surf, fun, feel-good vibe."

With major traction gained after the release of their first single "

"It's kind of like the story of the underdog," Kristo said about "Crickets."

This honesty matched with catchy beats is stirring up anticipation for the first album from the group since officially changing their name from "The Freshman" after signing to A&M/Octone. And if the new name has you scratching your heads, the trio explained its meaning.

"[Drop City] was like the first hippie community," Kristo said of the commune of artists formed in the 1960s. "It was just a ...

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ ‘Same Love’ Is ‘Perfect’ Anthem For DOMA’s Defeat

It's been a pretty memorable year for Seattle-based poet and singer Mary Lambert: She sang the hook on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' equality anthem "Same Love," which took society (and hip-hop) to task for their homophobic stances, watched as the song became the unofficial anthem for the Referendum 74 campaign to legalize same-sex marriage in Washington (a measure that passed in November) and a genuine Top 40 hit on radio, and then, earlier this week, witnessed history when the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act.

And though she's been celebrating her successes all year long ("I find any excuse to have champagne as often as possible," Lambert laughed), it was the Supreme Court's decision on DOMA that really had her in the mood to party. And, so, she did just that ... with a fete she dubbed "Suck It, DOMA," and, of course, some karaoke.

"When the Supreme Court decision came in, my girlfriend and I just couldn't believe it! And, to be honest, it didn't hit right away; it felt so progressive and it felt like such a monumental thing," Lambert said. "I had to keep saying it over and over again: 'The majority of the Supreme Court decided it was unconstitutional.' And they're old people!

"So we were all celebrating at this bar and it became a big thing — I kind of just made up the 'Suck it, DOMA' name — and then my partner and I went out to the lesbian bar and sang karaoke," she continued. "Of course, I was really feeling it, ...
