The 7 People You’ll Meet In High School — As Pop Stars

by 9 mins ago

High school can, at times, be a dark chasm of awfulness — so why not imagine that you go to school with all of your favorite pop stars to alleviate some of the suck? You know, in lieu of all those kids you’ve known since you were just a drooling babe.

We took a look at some of the tried and true high school personality types, studying their ways and customs until we settled upon their celebrity equivalents. Check out your high school class — in pop stars — down yonder.

1. The Goth Kid

lorde-miley-fans

Cooler than you, wiser than her years — your local Goth Kid is probably a lot like Lorde. In order to bond with him/her, it’s not enough to just look the part (although purple lips are a plus). Drop some references to “The Castle of Otranto” and The Cramps and start penning your own brooding poetry and you might have a chance at breaking into his/her black (but bruised heart).

2. The Nice Cheerleader

There’s always that one popular girl — you know the one. She’s popular because she’s actually nice to everyone, not just because her face looks like it’s been crafted from spun sugar and marzipan. As Taylor Swift is undoubtedly the famous version of said girl, it’s likely pretty easy to become friends with her high school equivalent — you might be one of many, however, as she’s pretty liberal with the BFF title.

Former ‘Saturday Night Live’ star Nasim Pedrad did an on-point impersonation of fellow comedian Aziz Ansari that never saw the light of day – until she appeared on Conan’s show and he debuted it.

Supermodel To Movie Star
Going from the runway to the big screen, Cara Delevingne will star in the upcoming film adaptation of John Green’s young adult novel Paper Towns. She will play the female protagonist Margo, who is the love interest of the male lead character Quentin “Q” Jacobsen. Crossing my fingers that this will be as good as “Fault In Our Stars,” another John Green book-turned-movie.

French Montana Gets Somber On ‘Suicide’: Listen

by 13 mins ago

French Montana is in a contemplative mood on his latest track, “Suicide,” which dropped on Tuesday (September 16).

“Sometimes I look at my son, then I picture my father/ When he looked at his son and understood his story,” he raps to open the track, which has a somber tone throughout.

There are other moments that are a bit more classically Montana, with French delivering his seasoned street talk: “I’m talkin’ 500 murders, about 100 I knew/ I’m talkin’ 500 cases, ’bout 400 that blew.”

It’s not yet clear if this is off the rapper’s upcoming sophomore album, Mac & Cheese 4, which is due in November. French told MTV News over the summer that he had already recorded five tracks with Kanye West for the project.

Plus, he’s got Yeezy, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross on his next single, which we’re guessing will be a little more upbeat than this.

This Retired Knicks Player Knows Who Biggie Called Out On ‘I Got A Story To Tell’

by 1 hour ago

It’s one of the great moments in hip-hop storytelling: The Nororious B.I.G.’s “I Got A Story To Tell,” where he gives a detailed account of sleeping with a woman and then robbing her man — who, he said, was “a player off the New York Knicks” — when he came home. But there’s one question that’s been left to lyrical lore: Which player is he talking about?

It’s often been rumored that the guy Big’s rhyming about is John Starks, a now-retired former fan-favorite. But on an episode of the ESPN show “Highly Questionable,” Starks said not only is it not about him, but he knows who it was about.

“That wasn’t me,” he said. “First and foremost, I’m not 6’5″; I’m 6’2″, actually.” The height comment is a reference to the late rapper’s line on the Life After Death track where he says he was at the house of, “One of them 6’5″ n—as.”

“I know who it was about, but I’m not gonna say,” Starks added, with a smile. “I can’t tell you. But I just want to get it clear that it wasn’t about me.”

There’s actually been some digging and research done on this question before, but a sure answer still eludes us. What we know now is that Starks insists it wasn’t about him.

“I had never met Biggie before.”

DC And Warner Bros. Throw ‘Lucifer’ Out Of Heaven, And Straight Onto TV

by 27 mins ago

DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. TV have already launched “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “iZombie” on The CW, “Gotham” on FOX, “Constantine” on NBC, and added a possible “Titans” series in the works for TNT. But their next move is about to send the Vertigo comic book universe straight to Hell, as FOX has ordered a pilot for long-running title “Lucifer.”

Produced by Aggressive Mediocrity in association with Warner Bros. Television, the put pilot – meaning it’s already been agreed to be put on air – is a one-hour drama Executive Produced and writer by Tom Kapinos (“Californication,” “Dawson’s Creek”) for FOX.

Here’s the logline:

“Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux.”

The comic book spun out of fellow Vertigo/DC Comic “Sandman” (which is currently being developed for a film version by Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and also has deep ties to the comic “Constantine” is based on. It’s doubtful the two will cross over, as they are other networks.

Eminem Is In Another Battle With Some Politicians

by 8 mins ago

Eminem has had plenty of beefs in the past — from issues with Benzino to George W. Bush — and now he’s got another on his hands. The star rapper and his publishing companies are suing New Zealand’s National Party for copyright infringement on his song “Lose Yourself,” saying they used the track in a campaign ad.

“It is both disappointing and sadly ironic that the political party responsible for championing the rights of music publishers in New Zealand by the introduction of the three strikes copyright reforms should itself have so little regard for copyright,” Joel Martin, a spokesman for the publishing companies, Eight Mile Style and Martin Affiliated, told The Guardian.

The party, however, says they weren’t in the wrong. According to the Associated Press, the defendants say the track was originally published by a Los Angeles company called Spider Cues Music, and the party then bought it from an Australian-based supplier.

“We’ve got all the licensing, we’ve told them that and made it clear again this afternoon. We also incidentally moved on from this song about two weeks ago at the same time they first started to raise questions,” Campaign manager Steven Joyce said.

Check out a version of the commercial below, with clips of Em’s chart-topper interspersed throughout.

11 Times Celebrities Were Totally Normal And We Loved Them For It

by 37 mins ago

Celebrities. We want to be like them: we covet their closets, their paychecks and, in extreme cases, their FACES. And yet, celebs can seem so different and so distant from us that it’s difficult to imagine them being like us non-famous common folk. That’s why it’s VERY refreshing to see stars from Taylor Swift to Bill Murray act, well, normal.

Don’t believe it? I’ve found 11 very glaring examples that your favorite stars on the charts and the big screen are — shocking! — human beings too.

1. They’re fancy clumsy.

*Watch until the end of Iggy Azalea‘s video.

2. They fangirl/fanboy hardcore.

3. They crash parties and dance to “Turn Down For What.” Hey, Bill Murray!

4. They indulge in friendly dance-offs.

5. They’re awkward.

ArianaIan

JLawAwkward

6. They flub names/words and misspell.

StefaniColbort

7. They get tattoos that they regret later.

BrodyTattoo

Remember when Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner got tattoos of each other’s names?

Adrienne Bailon also tattooed her former boyfriend’s name on her butt.

8. They eavesdrop on other people’s dinner dates.

9. They hate getting waxes.

40yrold

10. They enjoy (bad) karaoke.

11. They stroll down the street with no bodyguards.

Not sure I’d be wearing those stilettos though!

Jeezy Gives Some Words Of Wisdom In ‘Holy Ghost’ Video: Watch

by 7 mins ago

As an expert in Thug Motivation, Jeezy surely has plenty words of advice for anyone trying to come up in whatever endeavor they may be focused on. And in his new video for “Holy Ghost,” the Atlanta rapper drops some wisdom on an up and comer.

“You remember what I told you? What’d I tell you?” Jeezy asks the young whippersnapper at the beginning of the Seen It All video, which dropped on Monday (September 15).

“Stay true and keep my eyes open at all times,” he responds to the rapper, who’s sitting, of course, in the back of a Rolls-Royce.

“All times, man. Don’t forget that, alright?”

“When I grow up, I’mma be just like you.”

“You gonna be better than me, man,” Jeezy says. “But you gotta stay focused out here.”

Only time will tell if the kid becomes better than the Def Jam rapper, but if he becomes just like him, then that means he’ll be rolling around in he back seat of an expensive car, like Jizzle does here.

It seems like this will be the next single from the album; in addition to the new visuals, earlier this month, Kendrick Lamar remixed the track.

This Kitten Who Gobbles When She Eats Makes Us Want To Rip Out Our Hearts

by 8 mins ago

Dear famous people: This is an official message advising you to cease with the specially made-to-order, super-fancy, costs-more-than-my-apartment pets, and hightail it (get it?!) down to an animal shelter.

If you need further proof that this is a wise endeavor, might I introduce… Turkey, the tiniest, cutest little rescue kitty with the most adorable eating sounds this side of Lil Bub. She gobbles when she gobbles! Like a turkey!

Unfortunately for famous people (but fortunately for Turkey), this little bundle of gobbles has already been adopted, but shelters are just replete with heart-melting balls of fur with various and sundry entertaining eccentricities. Find your own Turkey today.

Here’s How To Get Rid Of That U2 Album

by 14 mins ago

Usually, citizens of the world are all, “Free things are the best!” snatching up beer koozies, keychains and all manner of useless things with almost rabid abandon when given the opportunity.

One free thing, however, was not unanimously met with grins and shouts of “Score!” — and that free thing would be U2‘s new record, Songs Of Innocence, which all iTunes users copped last week after the band premiered a new track at Apple’s product event.

Instead of reveling in not having to pay for the new tunes, some users were outraged that the record had infiltrated their iTunes — a state of affairs Apple remedied Monday (September 15) by creating a website that removes the album from one’s cache of tunes.

The site, titled, simply, “SOI Removal” is an extremely sparse affair. After warning users that after deleting the record there is no going back — “if you later decide you want the album, you will need to get it again” — Apple provides us with a button we may click on to effectively banish Bono and Co. from our iPhones and computers.

Tyler, the Creator, for one, must be very pleased.
