Denzel Washington Reveals His List Of Hottest MCs

by 6 mins ago

MTV News created the “Hottest MCs in the Game” franchise, but Denzel Washington has a few things to say on the subject.

The two-time Oscar winner took to Reddit Monday (September 8) ahead of his new movie, “The Equalizer,” to field fan questions and share three of his list of all-time favorite lyricists after he was asked if he liked Eminem.

“Eminem, yes,” Washington replied. “And I like Nas, and Jay-Z. Eminem and NAS are real wordsmiths. So yes, I’m DEFINITELY an Eminem fan. Where’s he been? Where you been Eminem?”

Outside of releasing the new song, “Guts Over Fear,” which features highly on Washington’s new movie trailer and soundtrack, Eminem’s been on his mega-successful “Monster Tour” with Rihanna and setting new marks for most words used in a hit song for the “Guinness Book of World Records.”

In addition to sharing his list of favorite rappers, the 59-year-old actor revealed that he would jump at the chance to play James Bond.

“The next James Bond? They better hurry up!” Washington said. “Yes I would! Who’s doing James Bond now … Daniel Craig! Did they shoot another one? Everybody should tweet Denzel is James Bond! Send it to the studio! We start the Denzel is Bond campaign today! James Washington. Denzel Bond!”

“The Equalizer” hits theaters on September 26.

by 12 hours ago

The Boss can act?

We’ll all soon find out the answer to that question when Bruce Springsteen makes his acting debut next season on the Netflix original series, “Lilyhammer.”

The show stars E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt, who plays a mobster relocated to Lillehammer, Norway by the Federal Witness Protection Program after he testified against his mob boss. Tony Sirico of “The Sopranos” is also reportedly involved with the show.

Deadline Hollywood reports that the Born In The U.S.A. rocker will guest star as a mortuary owner on the show’s third season.

Diehard Springsteen fans, of course, will recall that the 64-year old legend played himself in the movie, “High Fidelity.”

The difference here, though, is the fact that this will mark the first time the multiple Grammy winner will play an actual fictional character.

We can’t wait to see Bruce in action on the small screen! We’re sure he’ll rock the role.

Eminem Breaks Guinness World Record With ‘Rap God’

by 25 mins ago

Think it’s hard to break the Guinness Book of World Records mark for most words in a hit single? You better believe it is!

But, hey, that’s child’s play for “Rap God” Eminem, who fires off multi-layered, complex rhymes faster than a Gatling gun.

According to Billboard, the legendary Detroit rapper will be added to the record books for spitting an insane 1,560 words in 6 minutes and 4 seconds on the standout track from his The Marshall Mathers LP 2 album.

You remember how twisted your tongue got when trying to recite the lyrics, right?

“Me, I’m a product of Rakim, Lakim/Shabazz, Tupac N/ W.A., Cube, hey Doc, Ren/ Yella, Eazy, thank you, they got Slim/ Inspired enough to one day grow up, blow up, and be in a position/ To meet Run-DMC induct them into the motherf—in’ Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” Em raps in the song’s extremely intricate second verse.

Congratulations, Eminem, you’ve blazed yet another trail for rap Stans to follow!

Snoop Dogg Teased His New Collaboration With Pharrell—Listen

by 13 mins ago

It’s not exactly a secret that Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams share a special sonic kinship with classic collaborative singles like “Beautiful” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot” under their belt.

So our level of excitement today (September 5) when the Doggfather previewed a snippet of an unreleased track featuring himself and Skateboard P in a vlog was off the charts! Flanked by longtime partner-in-rhyme Kurupt in what appears to be a home-based media room, the legendary MC smoothly lip-synched the lyrics to the Pharrell collab.

“I do my thang, my planet’s Krypton/home of the freaks, come get yo MoonRocks, I am a G,” he raps before his cohort sings the hook.

Thirty seconds in, though, Snoop reaches back to cut the music to thwart any potential leaks.

“That’s enough of that music,” he says. “I can’t let you hear all that sh-t cause you be done put the sh-t out. Yo ass got a verse and a half.”

Judging by what he let us hear, it’s safe to assume the dynamic duo have another banger on their hands. Take a look at the extremely “green” clip here.

Usher Talks The Making Of The ‘She Came To Give It to You’ Video

by 2 mins ago

Usher absolutely killed the 2014 VMAs, let’s just get that out of the way right now.

Not only did he serve up an iconic performance of the Nicki Minaj-assisted “She Came To Give It To You,” but he also debuted a teaser for the accompanying dance party-esque music video.

The clip’s visuals were cinematic and very unexpected, so we just had to ask the Everything You Can Imagine singer exactly how much involvement did he actually have in the treatment?

“For me, it felt like, ‘Let’s go against the grain of what you think this song’s gonna be about’,” he told MTV News’ Sway Calloway. “But also, too, give you what you feel you were getting ready to get.”

And those shots of Usher onstage under the nostalgic spotlight? That was a nod to the prohibition era speakeasy.

“It’s a bit seedy,” he added. “I’m throwing y’all way back.”

The ‘Love & Hip Hop Hollywood’ Super-Trailer Is Here: Watch Now

by 28 mins ago

You just had to know it was coming.

After the New York and Atlanta installments of “Love & Hip Hop” soared to the top of the reality television ratings, it was just a matter of time before the fame-crazed residents of Los Angeles got in on the fun.

The new super-trailer for “Love & Hip Hop Hollywood,” released Friday (September 5) is a familiar trip down drama lane, with lots of familiar faces to stir up the pot as all of the cast members—Yung Berg, Soulja Boy, Omarion and Ray J, to name a few—try to juggle fame, fortune, love and, of course, the inevitable hiccups along the way.

The four-minute extended clip begins with the cast pulling up to an expansive mansion in the California hills in Rolls Royces, Bentleys and Ferraris.

“Hollywood, the city where fame is the game,” the ominous voiceover asserts. “In this town, perception is everything… but nothing is ever what it seems.”

On cue, the friction begins as Teairra Mari takes the “I Hit It First” singer to task for “moving on” after their breakup.

“I don’t wanna hear about you in yo new spot with yo new b—h,” she yells from the back of her SUV. “I might sock that b—h in the face when I see her.”

“And that’s why we broke up,” he retorts, before true to her word, Teairra is shown doing exactly what she said she’d do.

Fans of the New York and Atlanta segments needn’t worry, Mona Scott’s foray ...

Fabolous Thinks People Are Doing The Ice Bucket Challenge And Mourning Joan Rivers ‘To Look Cool’

by 44 mins ago

Fabolous took to Twitter to rant about his disdain for followers who took the ALS ice bucket challenge or tweeted about Joan Rivers’ death to be “cool.”

“Such a follow, do what everybody else think is cool so that’s what ima do generation,” the rapper wrote Thursday (September 4). “Sh-t is sick.”

Does he have a point? Maybe. Was it super ironic that he chose to use a social media platform built on the very idea of following to call people out for, well, following trends? We’ll take “Yes” for $500, Alex!

The “Cuffin’ Season” MC went on to doubt whether or not ice bucket challengers actually made donations to ALS and criticized them for wasting water.

“Awareness was part of the goal. But donation is a goal. Cures, research, & treatment can’t be paid for with being aware,” he added. “I thought we was tryna get water for Africa & other third world countries. But this year the cool thing was dumping buckets for awareness.”

Apparently, all of the groupthink has made the Brooklyn spitter “sick of this generation.”

While it’s true that Fab has every right to post multiple rant tweets, we’re pretty sure the ALS ice bucket challenge was very effective in raising awareness and money and that everyone is tweeting about Joan Rivers because she was downright iconic.

Chris Brown Tells Billboard Magazine: ‘Maybe I Was Out Of Control’

by 19 mins ago

“Maybe I was out of control.”

That simple admission by embattled singer Chris Brown appears on the cover of the newest issue of Billboard magazine as the lead for what looks to be his most honest and personal interview since he was released from jail back in June.

Or maybe ever.

The “Loyal” crooner spoke to the magazine about his life behind bars, his relationship with Rihanna, his loyal fanbase and his upcoming sixth LP, X.

“I realize that what I do for a living opens my life to public scrutiny and that I have a responsibility to everyone because of that exposure,” Brown told Billboard. “I can say that I am only human and I have made mistakes. I can say that I try to live my life in the most true, honest way that I can. I am not perfect, no one is. No one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone. No one can live in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope that I am not defined by just a few moments in my life but all of the moments that will make up my life.”

While Brown’s comments seem to be poignant and introspective, just two weeks after his sit down with the publication, he was back in the negative news cycle after Suge Knight was shot multiple times at Brown’s pre-VMA party on August 24. However, besides the fact that the ...

Cee Lo Green’s ‘The Good Life’ Canceled After Rape Comments

by 15 mins ago

Life’s not so good for Cee Lo Green, after all.

Just one day after the singer’s attempt to define the nature of rape on Twitter failed miserably, TBS announced Tuesday (September 2) that it won’t be bringing back his reality show, “The Good Life.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable network based its decision to cancel the unscripted series based solely on its underperforming ratings.

While the series, which also featured Green’s Goodie Mob pals, averaged a paltry 677,000 viewers a night during its six-episode first season, the timing of the show’s cancelation will likely fuel the notion that Turner Networks may have bowed to the women’s rights group UltraViolet’s petition to terminate it.

The former “The Voice” coach pled no contest Friday to a felony count of furnishing a controlled substance of MDMA/ecstasy to a woman without her awareness and was sentenced to 360 hours of community service and three years of probation.

The 39-year-old singer tried to defend his legal troubles in 140 characters or less, but was hit with a tidal wave of backlash.

“If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously,” he tweeted, adding, “People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!”

Cee Lo later apologized for his remarks, but apparently, his mea culpa wasn’t enough to keep living and broadcasting “The Good Life.”
