Big Sean Calls His Collaboration With Eminem ‘A Detroit Classic’

Big Sean is always reppin’ Detroit, so it was only a matter of time before he solidified a collaboration with the Motor City’s favorite son, Eminem.

“Yes, you can expect a little somethin’ somethin’ sooner or later,” Sean told Detroit’s 97.1 The Ticket recently about a recent photo of him with the Shady one.

When the picture of the duo surfaced last year, the Hall of Fame rapper told MTV News that their collaboration “gotta be a Detroit classic.”

“Being in the studio, I just remembered when my mom bought me his [first] album from Costco or something a long-ass time ago, so you could just imagine going from that moment — being a lil-ass boy — then fast forwarding 20 years later and being in the studio with him,” he said. “We talked for a few hours before we even worked on music. I was telling him my stories about how we were performing all around downtown Detroit and [it turned out that] he was performing in the same places.”

While expectations for the track are high, the “I Don’t F–k With You” MC is more than confident that the collabo will be one for the history books.

“Shout out to Eminem,” he said. “Shout out to Kid Rock. Shout out to everybody in Detroit putting on for the city and giving back to the city. I’ma keep reppin’, keep supporting.”

Hmmmm, was that just a simple shout out to the Rebel Soul singer or a small hint at yet another big guest appearance on his upcoming third solo LP?

We’ll have to wait and see if Kid Rock makes a contribution to the cause, but there’s no need to speculate on whether or not Kanye West will make the final tracklisting.

“Yeah, he took time,” Big Sean told DJ Whoo Kid recently. “That guy right there he took his time out. That’s an OG, man. Shout out to the boy. Shout out to the homie.”

Yeezy may have been slow to get back to work, but the G.O.O.D. Music representer has been on a tear recently.

“This new album I got coming out, you guys will get it by the end of the year or at the latest early next year,” he said. “But there’s a lot of new songs on there that’s gonna be the theme songs, a lot of new walk out songs. I’ma keep making music for you guys.”
