7 Reasons Why Taylor Swift Could — And Should — Have Been On ‘The Hills’

by 47 mins ago

By Laura Franco

What if Taylor Swift had starred alongside Lauren Conrad on “The Hills“?

Sure, we know what you’re thinking: The show aired before Taylor’s prime, not to mention the fact that Ms. Swift is successful in her own right. But hear us out.

Taylor and Lauren have a lot in common: They’re both DIY queens, relationship experts and all-around good girls. And while the singer certainly took a different path to fame, there’s no denying she would have fit in perfectly among the cool kids at Les Deux. Don’t leave the possibility unwritten — check out all the reasons:

1. Taylor knows boy drama … all too well.

2. She dreams big.

3. She’s got may-jor style.

4. When it comes to love, she’s realistic.

5. At the end of the day, she tells the truth.

6. Haters, you KNOW what you did!

7. She’d take a bullet for her BFFs.

Super Viral Instructional Videos Teach Teens (Extremely) Basic Life Skills

by 51 mins ago

Back in August, Will Reid — a father of two teenagers in Southampton, England — posted a YouTube video titled “Toilet Roll Changing – Teenage Instructional Video #1,” explaining the process with the drollest possible British sarcasm, such as “I know this is a difficult one” and “that might be a step too far.” Clearly the dude was sick of his kids’ laziness around the house, and it resonated with other frustrated parents, racking up four million views:

Reid, who is actually selling clothes and mugs based on the video, has just returned with his follow-up, “Dishwasher Loading – Teenage Instructional Video #2,” which moves the classroom from the bathroom to the kitchen for a lesson on…y’know…not leaving half-eaten s–t around the house for cockroaches and mice to narf up:

(If you think that’s a pain in the ass, try living in New York City, where dishwashers are a luxury and you’ll likely find yourself developing a love/hate relationship with Brillo Pads.)

We’re hoping Reid will continue with videos on such topics as picking clothes off the floor, taking out the trash instead of building a gigantic stack of it, and wiping urine-soaked curly hairs off the toilet seat. That’s a difficult one.

But perhaps these videos are a little unfair? Perhaps they’re based on insulting, ageist stereotypes?

Nope. Personally, I wish I’d had ‘em when I was younger. See, I didn’t have any brothers or sisters. My friend who lived across the street had two siblings. Arithmetic might suggest ...

Miley Cyrus Releases Live Version Of ‘Lilac Wine,’ And It’s Eerrthang

by 11 mins ago

Miley Cyrus isn’t always straddling plastic penises and causing chaos on her Bangerz Tour. Sometimes, Ms. Cyrus likes to slow it down a little.

That’s why Miley covered Jeff Buckley’s “Lilac Wine” in Melbourne. On Monday, she released the live version on her SoundCloud. Prepare to be blown away.

It’s certainly no “We Can’t Stop.” While I like both sides of Miley, it’s refreshing to be lifted from her go-hard, party-all-the-time vibe to see her getting back to her roots. She previously covered this song in her Backyard Sessions in the days before Bangerz. This one seems more free from mixing, trimming and smoothing, and Miley seems to like it more, tweeting that she’s “evolving.”

Listen to both, and tell us if you think Miley has evolved in the comments.

‘LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham’: We’re Hands On With DC’s Newest Video Game

by 10 mins ago

Now that the bat’s outta the bag about the new LEGO movie, perhaps it’s the best time to share our thoughts about the upcoming LEGO game, “LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham!”

Yup, the fine folks at Warner Bros. and TT Games are at it again, and we got our eager hands on their latest LEGO adventure featuring your favorite DC heroes – before it hits stores on November 11.

Beyond Gotham
As the title suggests, you aren’t confined to the city limits of Gotham. Indeed, TT Games have upped the ante, expanding the story to stretch further into the DC Universe. Taking lessons learned with the massive “LEGO Marvel Superheroes,” they’ve opened up a host of new narrative opportunities. As for the main story, we can’t get into too much detail as we only had a short time to play the game. Suffice to say, you’ll round up the whole Justice League to thwart the baddest and most fearsome DC villains and save the world. Basically, expect lots of punching Lex Luthor in his smug face!

While what we played was heavy with Batman, additional characters will play a bigger role in things to come. Furthermore, these characters feel distinct, with players able to choose what special abilities they’ll need to progress. There’s also freemode, which lets you play as anyone you’ve unlocked to run through the missions. And of course you can jump in with a friend for buddy bashing madness.

Building New Gameplay
This go around, TT Games are offering up ...

Kesha Sues Dr. Luke For Alleged Sexual Assault And Forcible Drug Use

by 9 mins ago

Kesha and her longtime producer Dr. Luke spent years making hits together, but according to the “Die Young” singer, there was no harmony behind the scenes. The pop star is suing the super-producer, claiming that he was sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abusive to her over the course of a decade.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Kesha alleges that Dr. Luke began abusing her when she signed with his record label at the age of 18. He allegedly forced her to use drugs and alcohol, in addition to making repeated sexual advances.

“This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for 10 years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke,” Kesha’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, told TMZ. “The facts presented in our lawsuit paint a picture of a man who is controlling and willing to commit horrible acts of abuse in an attempt to intimidate an impressionable, talented, young female artist into submission for his personal gain. Kesha is focused on moving her life and her career beyond this terrible time.”

(Geragos and representatives for Kesha and Dr. Luke could not be reached by MTV News for further comment at press time.)

Dr. Luke has yet to comment on the allegations, but Kesha, who’s asking a judge to let her out of her contract with Luke, does break down in the lawsuit several ...

This Guy Jumps Over A Crashing Motorcycle, But Doesn’t Get Off His Phone

by 10 mins ago

As we’ve learned from watching hours of “Nitro Circus Live,” keeping a level head is everything in stunts and action sports. This dude on the phone embodies that completely. He’s just hanging out at a motocross event, nonchalantly chatting on his cell, when all of a sudden a motorcycle is crashing toward his legs. No doubt that would’ve led to some expensive knee surgery. Instead, “Mr. Orange Hoodie” leaps at the perfect moment, clears the bike, lands in a cat-like crouch and then continues his phone call like it’s no big deal. Amazing.

If you’re the “Always On The Phone Guy,” you’re almost-always an annoying and horrible person. However, this undercover superhero is that one percent exception. Pulling off this move gets him a free pass for life.

Selena Gomez’s Really ‘Awkward’ Video Could Be Worse

by 20 mins ago

Selena Gomez is usually the queen of poise (some might call her the “most elegant princess in the world“). So when the Stars Dance singer calls something “awkward,” it probably should be, right?

On Tuesday (October 14), Gomez posted a black-and-white video to Instagram. She’s in a Texas diner, and her song “Slow Down” comes on. That’s not really weird (more of a humble brag, if you ask me), but the awkward part? Some random dude is whistling along. Hello? Selena is right there!

Sel looks a tad pensive at the end. There’s no escaping herself!

Chin up, girl. At least it hasn’t gotten the Muzak treatment yet, or, worse, played in an elevator. Or a funeral!

Watch This Crazy Vine Of A Giant Squid Attacking A Submarine

by 8 mins ago

Proving once again that the ocean is a vast expanse of mysterious and spine-chilling beasts, a Vine video of a giant squid pummeling a Green Peace submarine with its monstrous tentacles has emerged. In the video below, you can see the squid, squirting a cloud of black ink at the video, as the crew attempts to scare it away with a bright light. The incident occurred in the Bering Sea (the body of water that separates Russia from Alaska). Both the squid and the crew got away unharmed, but we probably won’t be going for a leisurely dip off the coast of Alaska any time soon.

The Internet Is Blind To Heidi Montag’s Genius New Fish Fillet Commercial

by 1 min ago

Heidi Montag has followed quite an impressive career path over the years, but her latest gig reminds us why we can’t get enough of the former MTV star.

The blond beauty has been a publicity associate at Bolthouse, a pop star, a contestant on various reality shows (classics such as “Celebrity Big Brother UK” and “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here” plus the upcomingMarriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars“) and oh, part of “The Hills,” along with hubby Spencer Pratt.

Related: Remember When Heidi Montag Was A ‘Superficial’ Pop Star?

But now she’s starring in a FISH commercial for the New Zealand-based company Sealord, and in the short but sweet 30-second spot, she confidently walks into a party and tries to get people talking about — and tasting — its product.

“When Sealord wanted real descriptions of their real fish fillets, I thought, ‘Who better than me? A reality TV star,’” she confidently declares before coining a brand-new word — “chunkalicious.” And if you’re wondering, her pronunciation of “fillet” is how the locals say it Down Under, so please allow the Colorado native’s inner-Kiwi to shine through.

Sealord certainly achieved its goal of getting people talking, but the messages weren’t all positive. Ultimately, the company pulled the plug on Heidi’s ad and shared this Facebook message explaining its decision:

Well, the priceless clip may not be airing anymore, but Heidi certainly got the last laugh for her latest marketing endeavor.

What do you think of the ...
