The news will be announced officially later today (October 11) at Marvel’s “DEATH OF WOLVERINE – THE LOGAN LEGACY” panel at New York Comic-Con, but MTV News is pleased to exclusively bring you the information on the next big step in Logan’s un-life, right here, right now.

Written by Charles Soule (“Death Of Wolverine”) and Ray Fawkes (“The Logan Legacy”), with art by Nick Bradshaw, the ongoing weekly finds Mystique, Daken, Sabretooth, X-23 and a few mystery characters uncovering secrets behind Wolverine’s death… As well as a healthy dose of good old fighting.

MTV News: Congrats on the new series, guys, but I’ve got to ask: how long are you going to wait before one of the cast shouts, “WOLVERIIIIINES!!!” while going down in a hail of bullets?

Mike Marts: Page 1, Panel 1!

Charles Soule: It doesn’t happen on every page, but it happens quite a bit. There are certain ingredients to a series like this that I feel are somewhat non-negotiable – fundamental parts of the architecture you ...

Lena Dunham Will Go Back To Medieval Times For Her Newest Project

by 26 mins ago

See you later, Brooklyn. For her newest project, Lena Dunham will explore a world far from the five boroughs in both space and time.

The “Girls” creator, producer, writer and actress will next turn her attentions to an adaptation of Karen Cushman’s historical young adult novel, “Catherine, Called Birdy.”

At an event as part of the New Yorker Festival in New York City Friday night (October 10), Dunham was asked about her upcoming projects by New Yorker staff writer Ariel Levy.

“This is actually my first time talking about it publicly,” Dunham said. “I’m very excited about it. I’m not sure when it’ll happen, but I’m in the process of — I don’t know if anyone here has read a book for young girls, it’s ‘Catherine, Called Birdy.’ Has anyone here read that?”

Written in diary form, the book is the story of a young girl — a “sharp-tongued, high-spirited, clever young maiden with a mind of her own,” according to the publisher’s synopsis — trying to scare off potential husbands that her father deems suitable. And by “suitable,” we mean rich.

In her own words, Dunham described Cushman’s book as “really beautiful,” with a plot about “a girl in 1290 who gets her period and her father basically says, ‘Well, it’s time for you to get married,’ and she’s like ‘Uh, no.’ But it’s hyper realistic and really pretty and it’s full of incest and beatings but it’s a child’s story. I’ve been obsessed with ...

Here’s How Brands Are Using Your Instagram Selfies

by 12 mins ago

By this point, we all pretty much know how Facebook is documenting our every status, check-in and conversation to deliver custom targeted advertising right down the center of our feeds. But, now third-party companies are actually mining your Instagram selfies for big bucks.

An expose over at Wall Street Journal unveils how brands can harvest their logos in Instagram’s vast database of photos to learn what you love to wear, eat and drink — and even when and where you’re doing it. Companies like Ditto Labs are helping to sca and store and deliver your images right into the hands of corporate America for some seriously custom market research.

Instagram, Flickr and Pinterest contend that they clearly inform users about the potential third-party sharing of photos with marketing partners, and maintain that images marked as “private” will continue to remain so.

Next time you opt to share that photo of your hot, new logo-plastered hoodie or that obligatory morning coffee selfie, you’re essentially advertising for that company and granting a seal of approval to their products.

But hey, don’t let us stop you from Instagramming your next Pumpkin Spice Latte—we’ll be right there with you. Because social media has become so embedded in our lives that it is changing the way we behave—and it’s definitely here to stay. Bath-selfie anyone?

Taylor Swift Continues Her Crusade To Crush Our Hearts With This Cover Of ‘Riptide’

by 2 mins ago

Taylor Swift has been sweeping across the country like a tide, building anticipation for her first major 100% pop album 1989, so it seemed fitting that she release a cover that plays off that same notion.

The “Shake It Off” singer has been traveling Europe doing press, so naturally she stopped by the BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge to lay down a little session of her own—a live rendition of Vance Joy‘s touching “Riptide.”

The track is full of romantic longing and slightly tinged with sadness AKA it’s already completely in Taylor’s wheelhouse.

Is anyone else getting “All Too Well” Grammy performance flashback vibes from her subdued, emotional piano performance?! I love the big pop star moments, but I also love it when she strips and delivers her signature barren, barbed verses over simple melodies.

“I love you when you’re singing that song / and I got a lump in my throat ’cause / you’re gonna sing the words wrong,” goes the chorus. But we never have to fear that with Taylor—she nails every lyric. Watch it below:

Amanda Bynes Reportedly Checked Into Psychiatric Treatment Center

by 26 mins ago

Amanda Bynes has reportedly been placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold today (October 10), according to reports from multiple outlets. TMZ broke the story, which comes only two weeks after the star was arrested for a DUI in Los Angeles.

E! News has confirmed that Bynes is checked into Las Encinas hospital in Pasadena, California, a center that offers “a wide range of behavioral health care treatment options are offered for patients with psychiatric, chemical dependency, or co-occurring disorders.”

TMZ reports that she is under a 5150 order which places the individual under a 72-hour involuntary psychiatric hold, during which they are given a mental health evaluation. The order under the section of the California Welfare & Institutions Code allows for the involuntary hold when someone “make[s] statements that they’re either a danger to themselves or others, or gravely disabled.”

Amanda’s parents Rick and Lynn Bynes were seen arriving at the center shortly after their daughter. The police were also reportedly at the treatment facility. In a series of now deleted tweets, Bynes recently accused her father of sexual abuse, then later recanted the statements. In an official statement to E! News Lynn’s attorney Tamar Arminak has denied the accusations.

“I am heartbroken today for my husband of 47 years,” she said. “Rick has been the best father and husband a family can ask for. He has never abused Amanda or our other children physically or sexually. These accusations ...

Watch Kendrick Lamar’s Heart-Filled ‘i’ Lyric Video

by 1 min ago

Forget gang signs. Kendrick Lamar is getting people to throw up hearts with their hands.

The cover art for K. Dot’s most recent single, “i,” depicted two men — one wearing red, the other in blue, symbolizing Bloods and Crips — standing next to one another and making hearts with their hands. The chorus of the song repeats the refrain “I love myself.” And love was again the message in the lyric video for the song, which dropped on Friday (October 10).

As the Compton native’s upbeat lyrics scroll across the bottom of the screen, an array of images rotate to populate the main frame of the video: Mothers, children, teens; people in business attire, wearing bandannas, and rocking t-shirts — really, all walks of life are represented. And they’re all throwing hearts up.

The video is directed by Christian San Jose.

Though there’s no official date for Kendrick’s sophomore major label album, the rapper said he’s aiming to drop it before the year is over.

“I’m hoping to push it out before 2015,” he said in an interview last month. “I’m gonna say that. I’m working hard in the studio.”

Why Wendy Williams Is Completely Wrong About Jennifer Lawrence

by 17 mins ago

When Jennifer Lawrence broke her silence in Vanity Fair about the theft of her personal photos, she brought personal perspective that the issue sorely needed. She called the situation what it was, “a sex crime,” and she pushed the conversation about how crimes like this should be discussed into a positive, and for some, hard-to-hear direction.

On her October 8 show, Wendy Williams did the opposite of that.

During the #HotTopics portion of her show, Williams decided to weigh in Lawrence’s Vanity Fair quotes, and her sentiments were in-line with some of the internet’s uglier responses to the hacking.

Williams’ issue with Lawrence’s statement mostly stemmed from the fact that the actress condemned everyone who looked at the photos online, saying “Anybody who looked at those pictures, you’re perpetuating a sexual offense. You should cower with shame.”

The daytime host went on the defensive, having admitted to seeking out the photos, and essentially saying that Lawrence no longer has a say whether it’s all right for people to look at her stolen photos. “It’s not your choice, it’s in the cloud, and I’ve looked several times,” Williams said. “So I guess I’m disgusting for looking?”

Well, yeah, she is. That’s kind of the entire point of what Lawrence was saying.

The violation of the crime was never limited to the hacking itself. Jennifer Lawrence never told anyone except for whomever the photos were for that they ...

Watch LL Cool J Talk About That Time He Got Arrested For Humping A Couch

by 1 min ago

The “LL” in LL Cool J stands for “Ladies Love,” but maybe the rapper born James Todd Smith should change that moniker to “CL,” as in “Couches Love Cool J.”

If you’re shaking your head in confusion, imagine hearing the story about how the legendary “I Need Love” rapper got arrested that time in Georgia for humping a couch.

“What happened was, I was in Georgia—I forgot which part it was, I tried to block it out of my mind—but basically I got arrested for humping a couch,” he said in an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Thursday (October 9) night.

“I actually wasn’t simulating love with a couch, I was simulating making love to a girl…on the couch. And they just felt like they didn’t need a black man humpin’ a couch in Georgia.”

Authorities warned the “NCIS Los Angeles” actor beforehand that he’d be taken into custody if he bumped uglies with the sofa on stage, but he got “caught up in a frenzy” and dry-humped himself into oblivion.

“It sounds wild,” he added, while hoping the incident has been expunged from his record. “Like I just might start sweatin’ when I drive by a furniture store.”
