Jon Stewart Responds To Angry Directioners With One Quick Joke

by 26 mins ago

Jon Stewart has responded to the angry One Direction fans who started a trending campaign online calling out “The Daily Show.” Last week, Directioners thought show correspondent, Jessica Williams, named Zayn Malik as a terrorist as she slid One Direction into a long list of terrorist groups.

Although it was all a joke, Directioners took it seriously, and started the hashtag #TheDailyShowGoneTooFar, saying it was unfair to call Zayn a terrorist because of his Muslim and Pakistani background (however, Williams never said Zayn’s name).

After what was surely a full weekend of cyber bullying from the uber-passionate-sometimes-scary Directioners, Stewart or Williams were bound to do a sketch about it on Monday. Instead, Stewart mentioned the whole hullaballo with a mere passing remark about how Directioners’ passion should be used for something more constructive, like fighting climate change.

While commenting on President Obama’s UN speech about climate change, Obama says there’s one issue that’s the most influential in our world. Stewart took a guess at what that issue might be: “The terrifying enthusiasm of One Direction fans?”

“I had to sign out of my own Instagram!” he said, whimpering down to his desk, adding that if we used the enthusiasm of 1D fans in the struggle against global warming, we might have more successful results.

Chanel’s Paris Fashion Week Show Ended With A Feminist Protest

by 8 mins ago

Last week, feminism had a pretty landmark week thanks to Emma Watson’s launch of the #HeForShe campaign (also, Lena Dunham doled out sage advice about pasties, but I digress). Well, feminism is about to have another great week (and on and on for every week in the future, please?) because the Chanel Spring/Summer 2015 show at Paris Fashion Week set out on a mission to merge feminism and fashion. The reviews are mixed, but the discourse it’s creating—a debate over whether the show is a display of genuine feminism or an attempt to capitalize on the at-the-moment “trendiness” of the fight for gender equality—is of benefit to everyone.

ChanelGetty Images

Chanel’s ties to feminism can be traced back to the Coco Chanel-designed collections. Coco was a pioneer in adopting fabrics, pieces, and silhouettes that had been previously reserved for men. While certainly not single-handedly (*cough*Katharine Hepburn*cough*), we very much have Chanel to thank for popularizing pants for women. Can you imagine life without pants? No gracias.

Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection called back to that, showing tweed suits with roomy trousers and metal #CCcertified attache cases, but it was the end of the show that has sparked a firestorm of conversation.

The show’s finale was led by a megaphone-toting (Chanel-branded, natch) Cara Delevingne, who was joined by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Gisele Bundchen, and more. In addition to, y’know, ...

Joey Bada$$ Says His ‘Christ Conscious’ Video Is About ‘Ascending To This Next Level’

by 9 mins ago

Fans have been patiently waiting for Joey Bada$$’s debut album, B4.DA.$$, for a while now, and early Tuesday morning (September 30), he gave them a taste of what to expect. The New York native dropped the audio and a new video for “Christ Conscious,” which he calls one of his “favorite records off of the album.”

“That record to me is like, ‘I’m here,’” he explained to MTV News. “The whole idea of the song is, I’m building up, channeling my energy, getting stronger and stronger until one day I finally evolve. And that’s what it is in the video: Me ascending to this next level.”

The visuals, which were shot in his native Brooklyn, find the buzzing MC walking the streets before ultimately rising off his feet and into the sky. Throughout, the directors, M-I-E, interspersed visually captivating special effects that give the video an aesthetic that balances gritty and futuristic. And though he credits the directors for bringing his vision to life, the Cinematic Music Group MC says he “visualized the whole video instantly” when he heard the track.

(Watch the ‘Christ Conscious’ video above)

And exactly how he heard the track — which is produced by Zoe Supreme — is actually an odd but awesome story.

“I went on YouTube, ’cause back before I got on, I used to always go on YouTube and look for beats,” he says. “Like, just search J. Dilla stuff. What I did this time was I was like, Yo, I actually got a ...

Trina Says She’s ‘Not Even Thinking About’ French Montana Or Khloe Kardashian

by 3 mins ago

A few months before French Montana hooked up with Khloe Kardashian, he was rumored to be dating Trina. So, naturally, when Trina released her remix of K-Camp’s “Cut U Off,” in June, everyone assumed that she was talking about French.

But during an interview with K. Foxx on 103.5 The Beat, the Miami rapper explained that not even her recent track “F–k Love” was aimed at Mr. Mac & Cheese. “I’m not even thinking about those people, honestly,” she said. “I just think that because I’m surrounded [by] that situation, that’s exactly what they’re gonna feel.”

“I never told anybody publicly that I was in a relationship with him,” she added. “We were friends and I always build a great friendship before a relationship. And the relationship, it just never was that. It was…I’m around you and we’re good, we do business, we do music, I respect you, I thought you respected me and that’s the situation. But I feel like some things you just don’t do out of respect.”

Trina said that she’s not a big fan of the “sneak diss,” and that she much prefers to call out a person by name if she has an issue. She did confirm, however, that she actually introduced French to the whole Kardashian klan, since she and Kim were friends.

“The last time I saw her was at Kanye’s concert in New York,” Trina said of Kim. “I introduced [French Montana] to them…to the sister, the mom and ...

Behold, The Most Cringeworthy Moments From MTV’s ‘Are You The One?’ Reunion

by 5 mins ago

Well, that got a little awkward.

The original “Are You the One?” crew gathered for a baby shower to fete parents-to-be Amber and Ethan on last night’s “Special Delivery” reunion episode. But despite plenty of liquor, the aww-worthy moment when the happy couple found out the sex of their wee one and the absence of the always stressful match-up ceremonies, the event still featured some cringeworthy moments between a few exes, past hookup buddies and former roommates.

Here are just a few of the uncomfortable interactions between the $1 million winners:

Simone’s social media diss

Let’s just say the outspoken former castie wasn’t too pleased that the parents-to-be unfollowed her on “the ‘Gram.” Simone fired back and let both of them have it — and even admitted that she didn’t “like” any of their bump pics.

Adam and Ryan’s fallout

The duo tried to live together outside of the Hawaiian mansion, but they didn’t need a truth booth to figure out that they weren’t a match as roommates. As Ryan so eloquently pointed out, their bromance has “faded.”

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘i’ Producer Says The Rapper’s New Album Is ‘Incredible’

by 5 mins ago

One of the most anticipated new rap records of the year dropped last week, when Kendrick Lamar released “i,” his first solo single since 2012′s good kid, m.A.A.d city.

The song, which interpolates the Isley Brothers’ hit “Who’s That Lady?” was produced by Rahki, who says it’s just a taste of things to come. He also explained that it was a collaborative effort throughout.

“Every time Kendrick worked on the record, every time he had Ali mix it, he called me [to] come through,” the 31-year-old producer told MTV News. “He’s that type of artist where he wants the producer to be a part of the record, which to me is the most important thing in the world. That’s why the music comes out so good with Kendrick — he’s all about the music.”

Rahki, who produced the gkmc bonus track “Black Boy Fly,” says he first started sending K. Dot beats for the new project right after the debut dropped. Once Dot came off tour this summer, they got in the studio together — though they only finished “i” about a week before it dropped.

“We started really building. We got in. We talked about life. I was just with him like every day all summer. He told me the idea of what he was looking for for the album, and so we just started building ideas that way. So everything we did for ‘i’ was built solely based off of us [conversing]. I didn’t have those records ...

We Watched The ‘Thong Song’ Video With Sisqo And It Was Hilarious

by 15 mins ago

Few songs transcend time, age and circumstance the way that the “Thong Song” has. Since it came into our lives 15 years ago, it is just as wild at your wedding as it was at your middle school dance. You probably could describe your first time experiencing the music video in great detail. In celebration of the “Thong Song’s” 15th anniversary, I sat down with the man who brought it into this world— Sisqo himself.

As we watched the video together and reminisced, Sisqo pointed out that “15 years in the entertainment industry is like 1,500 years,” and he’s right. When this song came out, it was considered a scandalous subject — and now the lyrics are practically rated G compared to the rest of today’s music. Regardless, from the very first sound of the violin, the track holds onto its purpose: the ability to make anyone, anywhere, excited to dance.

Sisqo weighs in on different aspects of the video: his silver hair, the many girls in thongs and his variety of celebrity cameos, but most importantly, he points out that if you look closely, you can see the moment when he invented twerking pre-Miley Cyrus.

Is There A Link Between The Suspect In The Hannah Graham Case And Murdered Metallica Fan Morgan Harrington?

by 34 mins ago

Police investigating the disappearance of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham believe they may have found a DNA link between the suspect in that case and the 2009 murder of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.

According to CNN, investigators said they have found a “forensic link” between the two cases, but have not yet elaborated on what that is and how it might tie Graham suspect Jesse Matthew to the cases.

Harrington, 20, went missing after attending a Metallica concert in Charlottesville in October 2009 and her remains were found several months later after an intensive search of the area by police and volunteers and the offer a $50,000 reward from the band for information about her whereabouts.

Police never made an arrest in the Harrington case and no cause of death was revealed. After Graham, 18, went missing on September 13 police began searching the area and offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to her safe return. Investigators believe that Matthew, 32 — who has been charged with abduction and intent to defile — was the last person seen with Graham.

Graham was reported missing a day after surveillance video showed her walking past a service station in the downtown Charlottesville area, with friends reporting that she’d sent several late-night texts saying she was lost after leaving an on-campus party. Witnesses last reported seeing her with Matthew at a local bar.

Pharrell Goes Anime For ‘It Girl’ Video

by 21 mins ago

Pharrell has associated with and taken cues from Japanese culture and art throughout his career. From his work with Nigo and Billionaire Boys Club to his collaborations with Uniqlo to his hosting of the documentary “Tokyo Rising,” the singer and producer has worked with Japanese tastemakers on a number of occasions. For his new video, “It Girl,” he was at it again.

Produced by Takashi Murakami, directed Mr. and Fantasista Utamaro, and with animation production provided by NAZ, the clip turns Pharrell 2D — as he becomes a cartoon, finds himself inside a video game, and woos his anime-created “It Girl.” It’s simultaneously visually appealing — with lots of cool graphics and bright, popping colors — and a bit funny — seeing an animated P swoon over some bikini-clad anime women.

This is a second time this month that the judge from “The Voice” has found himself in a video game. Last week, the Virginia native — and his famous hat — showed up in a clip from the upcoming “NBA 2K15.”

“#YourTimeHasCome to meet me in @2K #NBA2K15. New face scan technology will make it possible for us to meet face-to-face in one scene. Coming soon,” he wrote on Instagram.

The game drops October 7. Meanwhile, G I R L, the album that features “It Girl,” is available now.

Are You Handling Your Breakup Like An Adult? A Quiz For The Recently Dumped

by 28 mins ago

“Let’s just be friends.”

Those four words sting, no doubt about it, but getting dumped can actually be a good thing. You’ll learn (and fix) some of your worst flaws; you’ll learn (and avoid) personality types you’re incompatible with; and you’ll learn (yeah, right) that you can walk away from rejection without acting like a complete jackass.

Unfortunately, though, heartbreak doesn’t always lead to the most rational decisions. It’s perilously easy to make a tense situation far more dramatic than it needs to be. So, before you do anything impulsive — especially on social media — take this quiz to discover whether you’re thinking about this breakup with a clear head…or, y’know, not thinking at all.
