Nicki Minaj Says Her Old High School Won’t Let Her Come Speak To The Students

by 27 mins ago

Through her music, social media and videos, Nicki Minaj gets to speak to millions of kids all the time. But she says that she wasn’t allowed to do so in person at her old high school, even though she wanted to.

“I wanted to go back to my HS and speak to the students but the new principal declined,” Nicki wrote on Twitter on Thursday (September 11). “No need for me to inspire them, I guess.”

In the past, the Young Money rapper has spoken highly of her alma mater, LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, located in New York. “It was the first time I felt like I really fit in,” she told Teen Vogue last year of her high school experience. “Everyone there was creative. For once, I didn’t feel like there was something weird about me.”

Maybe they took exception to her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up track “High School”?

Tyga Heads Back To The Strip Club For ‘Real Deal’ Video: Watch

by 17 mins ago

With his new album, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty, set to drop in two months, Tyga looks like he’s getting ready to kick things into full gear. On Thursday (September 11), he dropped the video for the album’s latest single, “Real Deal.”

For both the track and the video, the Los Angeles rapper goes back to where he found his biggest success, thanks to his breakout hit, “Rack City”: the strip club. Things don’t get too explicit this time around, as the Young Money MC navigates his way through a dimly lit club — though there are a few scantily clad ladies, stripper poles and airborne one dollar bills showing up throughout.

“Real Deal” is the third song Tyga has dropped from the album, which is scheduled to come out on November 18, and will be executive produced by Kanye West.

“I met Kanye like six years ago and it’s always been cool,” Tyga told MTV News in March. “Every time we chopped it up or been around each other it’s always been cool vibin’, and he was just like, ‘Yo, man I’ll produce your joint. I’ll produce your joint if you want me to,’ and I was just like, ‘Hell yeah, man, that’s a blessing.’”

Grant Morrison Wants To Do A ‘Godzilla’ Movie

by 27 mins ago

Writer Grant Morrison has destroyed – and built – new universes in the pages of comic books for years. But never before has he created two of them at the same time, in the same comic – and luckily, this one has an appropriate title: “Annihilator.”

The first issue of the eagerly anticipated book hits stores this week, so MTV News hopped on the phone with the writer to talk about his influences for the book, his flirtation with Hollywood, and how he’s dying to do a “Godzilla” movie:

MTV News: I remember chatting with you about this about two San Diego Comic-Cons ago, so this has been in the works for a while.

Grant Morrison: I came up with it a few years ago, and then we got Frazier [Irving] on board, and he’s been working on it since. We waited until we had enough material to feel comfortable to start releasing it. That’s why it’s taken two years, probably. But it’s the most recent thing I’ve made, so I’m pretty excited.

MTV: Given that it’s a Hollywood satire, and things change in entertainment so rapidly, were you at all worried that the business would be totally different by the time this book was released?

Morrison: There are certain things that will always been in play. There will always be big franchises, and in the next few years they’ll be darker and darker, and more Batman than Batman. So we’re obviously talking about that, but at the same time that opened up ...

The College Majors Of (Almost) Every ‘Game Of Thrones’ Character

by 1 min ago

Everyone’s gotta start somewhere, right? Westeros isn’t just about duels to the death — education is important, people! A bachelor’s degree should be a prerequisite for the Iron Throne. So, what would your favorite “GoT” character study to prepare himself or herself for the real world (of George R.R. Martin’s imagination)?

Spoilers ahead, if you’re not caught up with Season 4…

Petyr Baelish – Psychology

Nobody can read a mind quite like Littlefinger can. He always knows what you’re up to, but he doesn’t care about treating your issues — he’ll just use that info to manipulate you mercilessly.

Khal Drogo – Astronomy

Khal didn’t do much with his degree after graduation, but it did inspire those “moon of my life…my sun and stars” pet names with Daenerys.

Cersei Lannister – Finance

Girl gets s–t done. She was one of those annoying people who had a job offer two months into her senior year of college.

Stannis Baratheon – Statistics

This guy’s all about the strategy. In college, he was the guy who took out his calculator immediately after every exam to determine where his potential grade landed on the curve.

Six Reparative Bonding Activities The ‘Finding Carter’ Twins Should Consider

by 16 mins ago

After being shot in the chest and rushed to the hospital, “Finding Carter“‘s Max is steadily improving, but the same can’t necessarily be said of Carter and Taylor‘s relationship as the twins await his full recovery.

Taylor, who directed blame for Max’s condition squarely at Carter, eviscerated her sister on the most recent episode, leaving Carter soaked in tears in the hospital cafeteria. Taylor’s words stung, but ultimately, Carter realized she was right to be so upset and apologized for fleeing town with Crash — an action that ultimately led to Max’s incapacity.

“I have put you through hell, but I promise you, I am going to make it up to you,” Carter said.

TayCar2

It was certainly a step in the right direction, but after months of tension between the ladies, wethinks sincere reconciliation will take more than a single verbal Band-Aid. So, here are six activities Carter and Taylor can consider to rebuild their sisterhood. Take a look, and see how the “Finding Carter” season ends on next week’s finale!

1. Try tandem parasailing.
For many, the ocean is a universal cure-all, and if Carter and Taylor had the chance to escape the world a mile above the sea with only each other as company, we predict some solid breakthroughs would follow. You know, unless they spent the ride shrieking in fear…

2. Complete a 500-piece novelty puzzle.
Whether they illustrate sweeping scenes of Yellowstone or a novelty California license plate, puzzles require determination, communication ...

Madonna … The DJ?

by 8 mins ago

Madonna’s dalliance with electronic music has moved to the next level — the DJ booth level. Alongside her producer extraordinaire Diplo and his Jack U partner, Skrillex, Madge made her DJ’ing debut in NYC on Wednesday, at Jeremy Scott’s New York Fashion Week afterparty. According to Instagram, Diplo never stops teaching, but the Material Girl just wanted to rave.

“@madonna: Another lecture from Diplo on djbooth etiquette! #sorrynotsorry #unapologeticbitch #diplotic”

“#madonna: I just want to rave in the back! #sorrynotsorry #unapologeticbitch. #skrillyboy #fu-kyousaying”

Madonna and Diplo came from the studio where they’ve been putting together Madonna’s upcoming album. The pop queen has been very vocal about how hard the pair have been working in the studio, often posting late-night photos with her partner-in-crime.

But after every post from Madge there is a friendly reminder that she is always #unapologetic. Is it hinting to an album title…or just a useful hashtag? That remains to be seen. In the mean time we would love to keep seeing Madonna in the DJ booth.

‘Teen Mom 2′ Bonus Scene: Barbara Tearfully Prepares For Jenelle’s Baby Shower

by 14 mins ago

A disagreement between Jenelle and Nathan on this week’s episode “Teen Mom 2” led to Barbara breaking down in tears as she struggled to prepare for her daughter’s baby shower.

The young couple had squabbled about when it would be appropriate to chat with Barbara about seeking custody of Jace; the argument eventually caused tension between the mother-daughter duo. But that’s not all: Nathan was so angry after the clash that he decided not to go to Barbara’s house to help her set up for Jenelle’s baby shower. The mom-to-be did, but she quickly fled in tears because she felt her mother was yelling at her about the dispute she’d had with Nathan.

In the bonus scene below, an upset Barbara is forced to prepare for the bash with only her grandson in tow.

“Alright, I guess I’ve got to do this all by myself,” she says through tears. “Oh well. Jenelle and her stupid men.”

As she tries to get everything in order, Barbara continues: “Now I’m so behind — all my cooking and everything. Every time I try to do something nice, it always backfires.”

But Barbara powers through her sadness and continues to prepare for the party — thanks to one very special helper. Watch the clip, and be sure to catch a new episode of “Teen Mom 2″ on Wednesday at 10/9c.

Our Notorious B.I.G. Ready To Die Quiz Is Guaranteed To Stump You

by 14 mins ago

The Notorious B.I.G. changed the game on September 13, 1994, when he released his multiplatinum debut Ready to Die. Under the guidance of Bad Boy CEO Sean “Diddy” Combs, Big was able to take dark and grim tales from his native Brooklyn and make them relatable to the world, spitting over smoothed-out hip-hop beats.

There isn’t an MC worth listening to that the late-Biggie hasn’t influenced, and there are few albums that you can even mention in the same breath as his debut; that’s why we’re still celebrating it 20 years later.

The way we see it, listeners have had two full decades to absorb every nuance of Ready to Die, and if you’re a real B.I.G. fan then you know the LP front to back — so our Ready to Die quiz should be a breeze. If Guerilla Black is more your thing, maybe you’re better off sitting this one out.

Mentally been many places, but I'm Brooklyn's own. Hip-hop gives me life!
