Watch Tom Hanks Dance For Justin Bieber While Dressed As A Rabbi

by 5 mins ago

What follows is quite possibly the greatest, most important Instagram video of all time. Prepare yourself. Ok, you ready?

It’s Tom Hanks dancing to (and singing the chorus to, obviously) Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It” while dressed as a rabbi.

As if that wouldn’t already explode the internet, it was taken by Justin Bieber at Scooter Braun’s wedding, which Hanks was at because he’s Tom Hanks and doesn’t need a reason to do anything. Bieber then posted it to his Instagram, so we could all share in the magic.

90s nostalgia meets movie star meets Justin Bieber, told through social media. Yeah, we’re pretty sure the Internet just blew up.

‘ROM: The Space Knight’ Returns For A 35th Anniversary Collectible

by 19 mins ago

Are you ready for the return of ROM The Space Knight? Related: do you know who ROM The Space Knight is? Either way, read on, because MTV News is pleased to exclusively announce a new collectible from Hasbro commemorating the 35th anniversary of ROM!

First, a history lesson. In 1979, Parker Brothers created a new toy robot called ROM, named after the read-only memory in your computer. The toy barely moved, had an LED light (one of the first uses of electronics in a toy) and by all accounts kind of sucked just a little bit.

That didn’t stop ROM from capturing the popular imagination, though, as many failures (it sold less than 300,000 units) often do. It was featured on the front cover of Time magazine, with an unflattering review. But it was really the tie-in comic from Marvel that guaranteed ROM’s popularity beyond the toy shelves.

Created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist Sal Buscema in order to spur sales for the Parker Brothers product, “ROM: SpaceKnight” far outlasted the toy’s shelf life, eventually getting cancelled in 1986 after 75 issues.

In the book, ROM was a cyborg (not a robot), tasked with stopping a race of hideous magic-users from space called the Dire Wraiths. Along with fellow cyborgs, called Spaceknights, ROM battled the Dire Wraiths throughout the galaxy, even ending up on Earth to team up with the Avengers.

In 1986, though, Marvel’s rights to ROM ran out. Even though the toy was (and is) out of production, most instances ...

Anne Hathaway Takes A Page Out Of Emma Stone’s Paparazzi Playbook

by 24 mins ago

If you needed any further proof that Emma Stone is the coolest girl in Hollywood, just look at the way her fellow A-listers are climbing aboard the hot new trend she started: flashing a little social conscience for the paparazzi.

After Emma and boyfriend Andrew Garfield were photographed last month holding signs over their faces, directing interested parties toward a variety of charitable organizations, Anne Hathaway and husband Adam Schulman were snapped doing the same as they walked their dogs in Brooklyn.

Anne Hathaway and Adam ShulmanSplash News

“Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield had a great idea!” Anne’s cardboard note read, then suggested that people visit the websites for The Girl Effect, Feeding America, and World of Children.

Schulman’s contribution read, “Happy 4th of July!” along with a hand-drawn picture of a petite firework.

Clearly, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have hit on a great way for famous folks to gently push back against invasive photographers, while getting attention for various worthy causes to boot. If things keep going on like this, there might even come a time when we never see another celebrity’s face again!

Nicki Minaj Got Lil Wayne A Custom Pink Neon Sign For The Studio

by 20 mins ago

Nicki Minaj just wants Lil Wayne to feel at home when they record for The Pink Print — even if it means buying him an LED lit neon sign that reads “Tune.” CUTE.

Actually, Nicki has a neon pink sign of her own, and apparently Weezy thought it was so silly that she decided to get him one also.

“Got this for my baby cuz he was making fun of the nicki minaj sign in my studio,” she wrote on Instagram. Ha! He know he like it #Tune #weezyFBaby #DaFizForABunchaSh–.”

Wayne recently confirmed to MTV News that he would appear on The Pink Print, and we should also expect to hear Nicki Minaj on his upcoming album Tha Carter V as well. Because they wouldn’t be a family otherwise.

Nicki hasn’t shared a release date for her album yet, but she’s pretty sure that it’ll be a guide for female rappers in the future.

“Jay has had his Blueprint albums and that’s what I feel like this album’s gonna be,” she said in an BBC interview recently. “I really feel like this album will be like a Blueprint for female rappers to come.” It’s going to be a big year for YMCMB.

Don’t Freak Out, But J.K. Rowling Just Released A New ‘Harry Potter’ Story

by 1 min ago

Are you sitting down? You might want to sit down.

J.K. Rowling just released a brand-new piece of writing set in the “Harry Potter” universe, taking place after the events of the series-ending “Deathly Hallows.” The article is titled “Dumbledore’s Army Reunites,” written from the perspective of unscrupulous gossip columnist Rita Skeeter of The Daily Prophet, and focused on a 34-year-old Harry, now sporting “threads of silver” in his hair and a mysterious new scar over his cheek, attending the Quidditch World Cup final with his young sons James and Albus Potter.

Also in attendance: Ginny Weasley, Harry’s wife, serving as a reporter at the Quidditch World Cup; Hermione and Ron, now an employee at the Ministry of Magic and the co-manager of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, respectively; and Neville Longbottom, quietly nursing a possible drinking problem.

It’s the first time we’ve checked in on Harry, Ron and Hermione since their epilogue at the end of “Deathly Hallows,” providing us with more insight into their post-Hogwarts lives than we ever expected to see.

However, two things of note: 1) The story is only available to Pottermore.com subscribers, and as of this writing, the site is on absolute overload; and 2) Rowling’s spokesperson tells TheBookSeller.com that the author has “no plans” to write further stories about older Harry.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t send your share of Howlers imploring Rowling to continue. And if she doesn’t continue, at least we have this new story to read over and over again — ...

Watch ‘The Flash’ Get Really Depressed Really Fast In This Short Movie

by 21 mins ago

You can’t stop every bullet, no matter how fast you are.

Barry Allen learns this lesson the hard way in “En Fläsh,” a short movie created by filmmaker Patrick Willems, directed and presented in the style of legendary Swedish director Ingmar Bergman. (Even credited to Mr. Bergman at one point, in fact.) The black-and-white, stylized short sees The Fastest Man Alive in loose-fitting latex, bemoaning what it’s like to move and breathe so much faster than everyone and anyone around him.

For a character that’s traditionally a fairly happy-go-lucky guy, it’s a pretty brooding take on good ol’ Barry. The shout-outs to Gorilla Grodd and Captain Cold in Swedish are worth the price of admission alone, but the endless possibilities for similarly inspired Berman-esque superhero parodies are what gets the wheels turning.

Of course, this is not the “Flash” we can expect to see when the series debuts on The CW in October, nor is it the version of the Scarlet Speedster that’s likely to show up in the upcoming big-screen “Justice League” movies. But at less than three minutes in runtime, “En Fläsh” is a quick diversion indeed.

Tell us what you make of “En Fläsh” in the comments below.

Who Does Selena Gomez Want To Wake Up To?

by 29 mins ago

Selena Gomez is going through some… stuff. Whether she’s back with Justin Bieber for real, or just feeling some feelings today, from the looks of her Instagram things are getting deep.

It all started early Tuesday morning (July 8) with a melancholy little video of the singer/actress at a microphone appearing to play a haunting tune on the piano. “I don’t know. I’m on my way you know,” she wrote.

To where? For what? We honestly don’t know.

An hour later she posted some Like messages in which fans appeared to be giving her some advice. (It was upside down, but we righted it for your pleasure.)

Screen Shot 2014-07-08 at 7Instagram

Then came this moody selfie with the caption “And usually always right.”

And that’s when things got REALLY interesting. “That’s who you wanna wake up to. #promise,” she wrote alongside a text from, well, we’re not sure. But whoever it is, they clearly had Selena on the mind.

Sia Steps Out Of The Shadows To Face Her 1000 Forms Of Fear

by 37 mins ago

A pop star who shuns the spotlight seems like an oxymoron in today’s world, in which celebrities can not only grab our attention through their torrid love affairs and transgressions, but also their Facebook updates, Instagram posts and those modern-day gladiator battles known as Twitter “beefs.”

But that’s what Sia is — a spotlight shunner. She’s an arena-sized musician who probably won’t be hitting an arena any time soon. She’s a song-of-the-summer-spinner who declines to appear in the video for said song of the summer. She’s a Greta Garbo for the modern age, but has somehow captured and held our wavering, fruit fly-esque attention by dodging that very attention. Now that her most recent solo effort, 1000 Forms Of Fear, has dropped, the question becomes: Can she keep our interest?

Subverting The Pop Forumla

1000 Forms Of Fear, out Tuesday (July 8), is not your average pop record — even though it may sound like it — and “Sia obviously isn’t our run-of-the-mill pop star,” publicist Lily Golightly of Golightly Media told MTV News of the musician’s rise. “I think that her reluctance to show her face and the reasons behind it (which she is super vocal about) is really interesting and almost art unto itself. I think it’s so rad that she can stand with her back to an audience but still give them a crazy amazing performance with killer vocals and interpretive dance.”

Yup, Sia’s star power is an interesting and potent cocktail. Her music ...

5 Problems With Dating Someone Who Looks Like Your Ex

by 37 mins ago

Last month, word came that Match.com is rolling out facial recognition software in order to help online daters find people who look similar to their exes. You might think that’s creepy, but it’s also stupid. OK, maybe you have a “type” and that’s fine, but why would anybody want to date a doppelganger of their ex? There are just WAY too many problems that could arise…

1. Calling Out The Wrong Name

Especially during those moments when you’re tired or drunk or…in the grips of passion. There’s nothing less romantic than forgetting somebody’s name, and you’re guaranteed to mix up facts about them. (“What do you mean, this isn’t your favorite restaurant?”) Which means you’re also guaranteed to create yet another ex in your life.

2. Unrealistic Ex-pectations

Of course, if someone looks like your ex, then you might also expect them to act like your ex, either positively or negatively. Your ex is your ex for a reason, and a lot of what you remember about him or her might actually be negative — the quirks, the arguments, the fights — and now you’ll project those onto your new squeeze. Or, if you’re still pining for your ex, you might hold this new person to an ideal that nobody could live up to. Either way, that’s a terrible expectation.

3. The Inevitable Comparisons

You’ll always compare your current and your former to some degree, but if they look exactly the same, you’ll constantly be thinking about how your new significant other stacks up ...
