Look At Weezer’s Terrifying New Album Cover

by 15 mins ago

Given the cover of Weezer’s upcoming record, we’re guessing that its title, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, is a big old lie.

The cover was revealed via a very “Where The Wild Things Are”-esque teaser featuring a dozing child dreaming of a terrifying puffball monster stomping through a forest in a sea of smoke.

weezer

The video also features a track titled “My Mystery” that’s pretty damn ’90s-game dreamy. “I don’t even know your name/ No, I don’t know the words to say/ So I call you my mystery,” sings Rivers Cuomo on the track. I hope he’s talking about the puff monster.

Weezer have been been teasing their ninth studio record — recorded with Cars legend Ric Ocasek — for a minute now. Recently, they revealed that oddly ominous title, as well as two new tracks titled “The Waste Land” and “Ain’t Got Nobody.” Each piece of info has been heralded by a video. We can hardly wait to see what’s next.

Should Facebook Block This Cheerleader From Posting Pics Of Her Hunting Kills? [Poll]

by 29 mins ago

Kendall Jones is a lot of things: a 19-year-old Texas Tech student, an All Girl Squad cheerleader, world traveler and Marketing and Sports Therapy major.

Oh yeah, she’s also a major big game hunter who has posted dozens of pictures on Facebook with images of her trophies, which include elephants, leopards, lions, hippos and and a white Springbok. The life-long hunter proudly displays her kills on her page, smiling alongside the carcasses of the animals while wielding her high-powered rifle and crossbow.

But not everyone is feeling the pictures, which she started posting in February. Jones, who said she’s been traveling to Africa on hunting trips with her father since she was a child, has come under fire from animal rights supporters, who’ve gathered more than 131,000 signatures from all over the world to date on a petition asking Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to take down Jones’ page citing “animal cruelty” in the images.

In a recent statement, Jones’ family defended her photos, saying that the hunts in Zimbabwe and South Africa were “100% legal with proper tags and licenses awarded on a pre-approved quota by the countries officials and wildlife department.” The statement also claims that the hunts have pumped more than $160,000 into the local economies, helping impoverished communities.

Jones is reportedly set to be featured in an unnamed TV show about her adventures next year. NBC News reported that Facebook had recently taken down some of the pictures for violating ...

20 Years Of ‘Crazy’: Liv Tyler Looks Back On The Aerosmith Video That Launched Her Career

by 2 mins ago

Liv Tyler may be taking a star turn in HBO’s new series “Aerosmith‘s video for “Crazy.”

Actually, scratch that, it was a long time ago. Twenty years, in fact, something that completely blindsided Tyler when we asked her about it on “The Leftovers” red carpet in New York.

“Oh my, what?” Tyler said, jaw dropping in surprise. “That is [bleep]ed up! 20 years!”

The video featured Alicia Silverstone in her third Aerosmith video appearance, taking a “Thelma & Louise” style teen road trip with Tyler while singing along to the song.

And in 1994 (when the video debuted), “Crazy” was one of the most requested videos on MTV (hey, we know that channel!), a fact that didn’t escape young Tyler.

“I remember I was in high school when I made it,” Tyler recalled, “and I would wake up in the morning for school, put on the MTV countdown. And when the video would come on I’d get so embarrassed, that’s when I would get in the shower, I remember that. Wow, that’s a long time ago.”

Even with the enormous success of the video, and the sure to be year long festivities celebrating the video’s release (okay, maybe not), Tyler doesn’t think there will be a shot-for-shot remake any time soon.

“No, that would be fun!” Tyler said, laughing about getting the band literally back together. “Me and Alicia walking around, the MILFs or something? With our children running around behind us?”

Hey, we’d watch that.

Mark Ruffalo And Keira Knightley Show You How To Fall In Lust

by 7 mins ago

In a summer of superheroes and ape-filled apocalypses, “Begin Again” might be the ultimate palate cleanser and counter-programming. Starring Keira Knightley (she sings!), Mark Ruffalo (he charms!), and Adam Levine (he sings AND charms!), it’s a feel-good New York set tale replete with great songs and performances.

It’s also one of those movies that calls on the actors to silently emote quite a bit, so that’s where this week’s “After Hours” comes in. We decided to put the leading trio of stars to the test to see if they could fall in love and lust (among other things) simply using their body, no words.

Hilarity, as they say, ensued as did one of the more inappropriate and bizarre responses we’ve ever gotten. Suffice it to say Adam Levine may be looking to do something a lot racier for his next acting gig. Watch and see.

“Begin Again” opens July 4.

13 Actors You May Not Know Are Related To Huge Hollywood Stars

by 15 mins ago

A lot of reports of actors with famous relatives are a bit, well, over-the-top. I can point to the coverage of “Girls” when it came out as an example of this, where all four actresses were accused of getting to the top because of nepotism, even though some of the connections weren’t exactly earth-shattering, and Allison Williams and Zosia Mamet didn’t exactly care about hiding their famous dads.

Nepotism is a loaded word, implying a negativity surrounding sons and daughters wanting to go into the family business, which in any other industry is completely accepted.

With that in mind, here are 13 current actors who are related to some pretty big-time Hollywood names, and we say, more power to ‘em!

That’s right, Anastasia Steele herself has a a heck of a Hollywood pedigree, as the daughter of “Miami Vice” star (and Kenny Powers’ father) Don Johnson and “Working Girl” star Melanie Griffith.

Mansfield was one of America’s biggest sex symbols before her tragic death, but daughter Hargitay keeps her mom’s flame burning as the tough-as-nails Olivia Benson in “Law and Order: SVU.”

The 21 Sexiest Aliens We’d Want To Share A Spaceship With On UFO Day

by 15 mins ago

Today (July 2) is officially World UFO Day — which means you’re probably already outside with a telescope, hoping for a repeat of the 1947 Roswell “incident” if you’re into that sort of thing. Here at MTV News we’re more of what you might call “indoor kids,” which is why we’ve foregone looking at the sky in favor of researching pictures of the hottest aliens in television and movie history.

Below we’ve compiled a list of our 21 favorite hot aliens, but just know that there are rules — future-humans who happen to be from alien planets (like, say, Alderaan) are not included, but alien life forms hiding out in human bodies are fair game. Geronimo!

‘Finding Carter’ Star Kathryn Prescott Has Something Her Character Doesn’t

by 15 mins ago

In theory, a mother and father reuniting with their missing child is a happy occasion, but “Finding Carter” will prove it can be a bumpy road, too. When the show premieres on July 8 at 10/9c, Carter, who’s been living for years with a woman who abducted her, will be reunited with her biological family members. But finding common ground with the virtual strangers will be a struggle for the teen — especially when it comes to her parents.

So, can show stars Cynthia Watros and Kathryn Prescott — who play the mother, Elizabeth, and the daughter, Carter, respectively — relate to family drama? In the interview below, Kathryn, for one, says her rearing included a great deal of independence — something her character would kill for.

“My parents were always pretty free with me,” Kathryn says in the clip. “They were of the school of thought that if you really cramp down on someone and tell them not to do all these things, it’s gonna become like forbidden fruit.”

Cynthia, meanwhile, says her relationship with her mother has been “up and down” — but that the trials have helped her prepare for her role as Elizabeth. “We’ve had certain turning points, and one of them was that we didn’t connect, sort of how Elizabeth and Carter have difficulties connecting,” she explains.

After suffering through a serious autoimmune disease as a teenager, though, Cynthia says she and her mother were able to let down their ...

Channing Tatum Smashes A Mirror With His Head In The New ‘Foxcatcher’ Trailer

by 20 mins ago

We reached the halfway point of 2014 this week, but there haven’t been any early awards contenders outside of a few standouts. Bennett Miller’s “Foxcatcher,” however, is one of the few.

And in the new teaser trailer for the true-life drama, which stars Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo and Steve Carell, it’s easy to see why.

Tatum, who takes center stage in the new preview, plays Mark Schultz, an Olympic wrestler who becomes the obsession of deranged heir John du Pont (Carell). If you haven’t heard the true story behind “Foxcatcher,” you can read about it here.

Miller, who previously directed “Moneyball” and earned an Oscar nomination for “Capote,” won best director at the Cannes Film Festival in May, and many early reviews raved about the performances throughout.

Carell has clearly undergone a serious physical transformation here, but it’s the intensity of Tatum’s performance that really shines here.

I mean, just look at this.

“Foxcatcher” hits theaters on November 14, 2014.

Nicki Minaj Genuinely Meant ‘No Shade’ During Her BET Awards Speech

by 31 mins ago

Nicki Minaj gave a pretty profound speech at the BET Awards on Sunday night, when she accepted the trophy for Best Female Hip Hop Artist — but she’s really not feeling the way she says her words were twisted and interpreted afterwards.

During the speech, Nicki emphasized that she has always written her own lyrics (something she’s very proud of), and that was interpreted as a slight to Iggy Azalea, after that whole Forbes article fiasco. This didn’t go unnoticed by the YMCMB rapper, who took to Twitter on Wednesday (July 2) to address the negativity.

“The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us!” she wrote. “I believe we’re smart enough to write down our own thoughts and perspective, just like the men do. I’ve been saying this for 5 YEARS.”

“I fell in love with Lauryn Hill b/c I knew she was the author behind those amazingly profound and articulated songs on the MisEducation,” Nicki continued. “I wondered how Lauryn tapped into my brain and wrote an album on love, betrayal, passion, pain, triumph, brokenness…. Did she read minds?”

“It’s the same reason I have a different level of respect for Missy. I know she’s a writer and a producer. Women MUST aspire for more.”

And as for all the talk about her throwing shade at Iggy? “I’ve congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should ...
