Rick Ross Hollas At A ‘Wild ‘N Out’ Girl…Because Nick Cannon Knows Better Than To Try It Himself [Sneak Peek]

by 33 mins ago

Nick Cannon learned a tough lesson when he tried to hit on a “Wild ‘N Out” girl during a round of “Let Me Holla” last season: Wives are always watching. The proof? As he began some sweet talk, his better half Mariah Carey appeared from the wings and quickly pumped the breaks on his game.

That’s why, this year, the “WNO” frontman is leaving the flirting to the real boss: Rick Ross. In the sneak peek, below, Rick doesn’t have to do much in order to win over a “WNO” gal — and earn points for his team.

“I’ve got to say this: Your future bright, baby. But more importantly…” he says, trailing off as his signature Maybach Music sound effect begins to play. Really, who needs pickup lines when you’re Ricky Rozay? #BOSS

Check out the full clip, and get ready to #WTFO (a.k.a. wild the f*** out!) — the “Wild ‘N Out” Season 6 premiere is tomorrow night at 11/10c on MTV2!

See The Casting Call For Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ Video

by 12 mins ago

Most of you were likely embryos when Nirvana filmed the video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit” back in 1991 — I, myself, was five — but I’m guessing that many of us would have leapt at the chance to be in the vid if were we of dancing (and walking) age. Sadly, the most we can do today is look at this original casting call for the production and dream of seeing Kurt and Co. live.

kTpCT

The only directive when it came to the iconic video’s casting was for actors to be between 18 and 25 years old and to “adapt a high school persona” (preppy, goth, punk, etc). However, the “whatever, nevermind”-esque crowd — which eventually goes wild — manages to capture the darkness and angry malaise of the song even with limited flash and resources.

Here we are now, entertain us, indeed.

PG-13 Turns 30: Looking Back At The Two Movies That Made The Rating Necessary

by 14 mins ago

Thirty years ago today, the Motion Picture Association of America introduced the world to the PG-13 rating. In the grand scheme of movies, three decades isn’t exactly a long time ago, but up until 1984, the middle ground between PG and R caused some serious headaches for filmmakers and audiences.

That summer, Steven Spielberg famously suggested a new rating to then MPAA president Jack Valenti. The director had come under fire from shocked audience members when “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” which Spielberg directed, and “Gremlins,” which he produced, contained violence many considered too graphic for a PG rating. In a 2008 interview with Vanity Fair, Spielberg explained his frustration of pre-PG-13 moviemaking at the time.

“So many films were falling into a netherworld, you know, of unfairness,” he said. “Unfair that certain kids were exposed to ‘Jaws,’ but also unfair that certain films were restricted, that kids who were 13, 14, 15 should be allowed to see.”

Looking back on the two films that drove Spielberg to suggest the creation of a new rating, it’s clear that something had to be done. All these years later, “Temple of Doom” and “Gremlins” maintains statuses as films that had profound effects on many childhoods, for better or worse.

For children of the ’80s, the human sacrifice scene from “Temple of Doom” stands out as a particularly traumatizing moment in the light-hearted (poor word choice?) adventures of Indiana Jones. Watching the scene back, the dated special effects lessen the ...

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Star Joins Peter Dinklage And Adam Sandler In A Movie About ’80s Arcade Games

by 45 mins ago

It’s time for Ashley Benson to stop lying and start kicking butt.

The “Pretty Little Liars” star has officially joined the cast of Adam Sandler’s action-comedy “Pixels,” reports The Wrap. The movie — which is being helmed by Chris Columbus, and is based on Patrick Jean’s short film — is about a bunch of aliens who think that classic ’80s arcade games (hence the “Pixels”) are a declaration of war, so they come on down for a visit and launch a full-scale, apocalyptic attack based on techniques they found in the games. Benson will be playing a character from one such game, a warrior named Lady Lisa from the fictional “Dojo Quest.”

Sandler, naturally, will be headlining the film, playing a washed-out, ’80s arcade champion who is called upon by the president (played by Kevin James, because of course) to lead a team of arcaders against the aliens. The rest of this team is made up of “Frozen” snowman Josh Gad and Tyrion Freaking Lannister himself, Peter Dinklage, so needless to say we “PLL” fans here at MTV News are pretty thrilled for Benson.

Filming for “Pixels” has already kicked off in Toronto, with a release date set for May 2015.

A real go-getter. Follow Shaunna on Twitter @ShaunnaLMurphy.

You Will Never Lose Your Credit Card At Lollapalooza Again

by 22 mins ago

Music festivals can be hectic places — what with the mud, the crowds, the not-wearing-headdresses-no-seriously-stop-doing-this. The last thing you need to worry about is losing your personal effects — you know, like your credit card. Your ish, on the other hand…

Lollapalooza is looking to make it easier for fest-goers to hold onto their valuables — and perhaps spend some dollars — by going cashless with digital wristbands, an initiative the Chicago fest plans to kick off this summer.

EDM fests have been doing it for a minute now, but Lolla is getting in on the action come August. According to AdWeek, the fest is rolling out a new program starting this week called Lolla Cashless featuring radio frequency identification (or RFID)-enabled wristbands. The bracelets will be linked to your credit card, allowing you to pay for food and drinks without potentially dropping your wallet in the mud. The bracelet is also your pass into the fest.

Now, apparently, all you have to worry about at Lolla is not accidentally appropriating anyone’s culture. Godspeed.

Keira Knightley Really Wants Katy Perry’s ‘Twisty T–s’

by 26 mins ago

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

You’ve seen Keira Knightley decked out in Renaissance-period costumes, soccer uniforms and a wedding dress — might a set of crazy chest accessories a la “shiny pop star” Katy Perry be next?

Knightley, who stars in the new movie “Begin Again” alongside Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine, showcased her vocal abilities for the movie’s soundtrack. Asked by MTV News whether she’d ever like to record an album, however, Knightley balked.

“No!” Knightley said.

That’s not to say that Knightley finds nothing appealing about the pop life. For one thing, she could spend some time with tigers. That’s not even mentioning the costumes that touring popsters get to don.

Check out the clip above to find out what, specifically, Knightley wants to steal from Katy Perry’s wardrobe.

This New Robin Thicke Video Is Really Cute And Really Sad

by 11 mins ago

Robin Thicke is a man on a mission. On Tuesday (July 1), the soulful singer dropped his seventh album, Paula, a 14-track LP mostly dedicated to winning back the heart of his estranged wife, actress Paula Patton.

Since their legal separation back in February, Thicke has campaigned at both the Billboard and BET Awards, singing and pining for Patton’s affection, acceptance and forgiveness. Today, however, he called in the reinforcements and cast nine adorable girls and boys to star in his “Still Madly Crazy” music video, which he premiered with ABC.

Thicke, who doesn’t appear in the video, sings about longing for better and more loving days. Meanwhile, the kids put on a pretend “wedding,” mouthing the song’s lyrics, giving out flowers and throwing cake at one another.

Whether or not the video will help to bring Robin and Paula back together remains to be seen, but you have to admit, it’s pretty adorable to watch. And sad.

Supreme Court Says No To Teen Gay Conversion Therapy

by 16 mins ago

On the same day that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that some private businesses can refuse to provide insurance coverage for birth control to their employees based on the company’s religious beliefs, the justices issued another decision that is likely to have major national repercussions.

The court turned down a request for a challenge to a California law that would prohibit “gay conversion” mental health counseling focused on trying to turn gay minors straight. According to the Los Angeles Times, the justices upheld a ruling by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that found the state clearly demonstrated that this kind of conversion therapy for minors under the age of 18 had no scientific merit.

“The Supreme Court has cement shut any possible opening to allow further psychological child abuse in California,” said attorney and California State Senator Ted Lieu. “The court’s refusal to accept the appeal of extreme ideological therapists who practice the quackery of gay conversion therapy is a victory for child welfare, science and basic humane principles.” Lieu, who introduced the 2012 law banning the controversial therapy also noted that eight other states have passed similar measures.

Proponents argued that the ban violated the free speech of the therapists and the patients seeking conversion therapy, an argument the Court found invalid. They also claimed that a patient’s sexual orientation and gender identity could be changed by the therapy because those traits are not innate.

Christian Bale Looks Appropriately Epic In New ‘Exodus’ Photos

by 20 mins ago

Ridley Scott essentially revitalized the trend of sword and sandals movies with “Gladiator,” and for his next movie, he’s taking on one of the best-known stories of the genre.

We won’t be able to see “Exodus: Gods and Kings,” Scott’s take on the story of Moses in Egypt until it hits theaters on December 12, but Entertainment Weekly has a first look with some interviews with Scott and his leads Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton.

In his chat with the magazine, the “Dark Knight” star addressed inevitable comparisons to Charlton Heston and “The Ten Commandments.”

“Charlton Heston does Charlton Heston better than anyone,” says Bale. “But the biblical account of Moses is extraordinary, and there was lots of room for us to go to places that [Heston’s movie] The Ten Commandments never dreamed of going.”

For his part, an almost unrecognizable Edgerton is playing Ramses, the adopted brother of Moses and pharaoh of Egypt.
