It’s Official: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Is Cutting Lady Stoneheart

by 8 mins ago

Warning: Major spoilers for the “Game of Thrones” novels, and potentially the show, are ahead.

“Game of Thrones” fans who read the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels that the show is based on suffered severe disappointment at the end of the season four finale. That’s because one of the saga’s most unusual characters didn’t show up as expected — a character known as Lady Stoneheart.

In the books, Lady Stoneheart, a resurrected version of the murdered Catelyn Stark, leads a band of outlaws against all of the Frey and Lannister forces who betrayed and killed her son Robb at the Red Wedding. She appears at the very end of the third novel in the series, and by that logic, fans expected to see her at the end of the season four finale. But it never happened, leaving some fans to wonder if Stoneheart would ever appear on the HBO series.

Now, based on an interview with Catelyn Stark actress Michelle Fairley, it doesn’t sound likely to happen. Fairley told Entertainment Weekly that while she’s aware of the Stoneheart concept, the Catelyn of “Game of Thrones” is very much deceased.

“Yeah, the character’s dead. She’s dead,” she said. “You respect the writers’ decision. I knew the arc, and that was it. They can’t stick to the books 100 percent. It’s impossible—they only have 10 hours per season. They have got to keep it dramatic and exciting, and extraneous stuff along the way gets lost in order to ...

DOMA: One Year Later, What’s Changed?

by 2 mins ago

Things have changed so quickly since the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was struck down by the Supreme Court that it’s hard to believe it’s only been one year since that historic day. The decision paved the way for even more States to embrace marriage equality for LGBT Americans and as of today (June 26), nearly half of the states have passed laws legalizing some form of same-sex marriage.

After years of promises and stalled momentum, the past 365 days have been one of the most exciting and energizing periods in the movement toward marriage equality. With President Obama stating unequivocally that “same-sex couples should be able to get married” and potential 2016 presidential candidate (and former First Lady/Secretary of State) Hillary Clinton recently stating that she, too, supports gay marriage and would like to see States decide the matter, it appears the movement’s momentum is unstoppable.

DISCOVER DETAILS ON SAME-SEX UNIONS, BANS, AND COURT APPEALS OVER THE PAST DECADE IN OUR INTERACTIVE MARRIAGE EQUALITY MAP AND TIMELINE.

In fact, according to a recent poll, half of all Americans believe that same-sex couples should have a constitutional right to marry. In addition, a record-high 59 percent said they support same-sex marriage, with 34 percent opposed.

“It’s been a really successful and positive path since that decision,” said Brian Silva, executive director of Marriage Equality USA. “We’ve seen a continued rise in polls in terms of people supporting marriage, across all demos: age, race, gender, ...

Happy Birthday, Ariana Grande! Here’s Proof You’ve Been Adorable Since Birth

by 3 mins ago

Gather ’round, pop fans and ponytail enthusiasts alike, for today is Ariana Grande’s 21st birthday! You know what that means, right? Yep, it looks like she’ll have one less problem getting into the club to celebrate tonight. (And absolutely no problem getting into Disney World.)

But just because the “Break Free” singer is now one year closer to being a Real Adult™ — pretty sure that doesn’t officially happen until you’ve had, like, your seventh in-store IKEA meltdown or something — that doesn’t mean that she’s not still the adorable Ariana we know and love. She’s been perfectly, preciously guh-dorably cute since day one, so why would she stop now?

1.) I mean, LOOK AT THIS LITERAL BABY FACE.

2.) Even as a toddler, Ariana — seen here with brother Frankie — was waving at at least a fifth-grade level.

3.) Wait, could this possibly be Ariana’s first gravity-defying ponytail?

ariana-grande-birthday-photo-3Instagram

4.) The real star of this mommy-and-me moment is the pony on her cheek. (Sorry, Joan.)

5.) O say can you handle this video of Ariana singing the national anthem at age 8? Doubt it.

6.) In 2008, Ariana got cast in the Broadway musical “13.” Why? ‘Cause the people wanted to see those adorable dimples on THE GREAT WHITE WAY!

7.) Then in 2010, she made quite the “Victorious” transition onto Nickelodeon.

On The Run Tour: Beyonce And Jay Z Take Their Couples’ Therapy On The Road

by 2 mins ago

MIAMI GARDENS, FloridaBeyonce and Jay Z launched their On the Run Tour here on a sticky Wednesday night, and while the spouses didn’t advertise any catchy tagline for their joint run, “the couple that tours together, stays together” occurred to me as rather fitting.

You see, Mr. and Mrs. Carter had come on a mission — “we celebratin’ love,” as Jay put it — and they offered up their own high-altitude union as a flaws-and-all prototype. Married since 2008 and together for more than a decade, hip-hop’s Bonnie & Clyde spent the better part of two hours at Sun Life Stadium (capacity: 76,000) demonstrating how to share a stage, egos aside.

They flirted, winked, kissed (yes, kissed!) and … took each other in. They toggled, repeatedly, and mostly seamlessly from one megastar catalog to the other and took fan-favorites in surprising new directions — ones that imbued them with pathos that hadn’t been there before. “Finally, you put my love on top,” sent chills when Bey wailed those words now. “Why Don’t You Love Me” similarly seemed to reopen old wounds.

At first, Bey’s showmanship and marathon-level energy seemed to threaten to cast a shadow over her husband, who frequently commanded the stage solo while Mrs. Carter was supported by a bevy of backup dancers and singers. But with each toss of the musical baton, Jay seemed to draw momentum from both the crowd and the “Crazy in Love” singer.

So for ...

‘Catfish’ Poll: Is Miranda Really Into Gabby — Or Just Trying To Save Face?

by 2 mins ago

The possibility of seeing true love — or even just friendship — blossom out of questionable online connections is half the appeal of “Catfish,” and though we’d like to believe Miranda found that on tonight’s episode, we’re not so sure.

The 21-year-old reached out to Nev and Max about her online boyfriend, James, whom she met in 2011. At the time, James was going by “Cameryn,” but thanks to Miranda’s own sleuthing, she discovered his profile was fake and got him to give details about his (supposedly) real life. Still, Miranda had doubts and told the Internet detectives that if James lied once, he could very well be lying again. The truth seemed near when, after some expert coaxing, Max and Nev persuaded James to meet with Miranda in person, and the duo traveled with her from Minnesota to Georgia to finally get things sorted out.

But once they arrived in the state, James went radio silent. A flurry of text messages and calls to him went unanswered until, finally, he agreed via text to Skype. But when James logged onto the video chat tool, an 18-year-old girl named Gabby appeared instead. She wouldn’t give a straight answer about why she’d tricked Miranda, but insisted her feelings were sincere. Understandably, Miranda was humiliated. And her embarrassment grew the next day when, after agreeing to meet in a nearby park, Gabby was a no-show.

Without any answers, Miranda traveled back to Minnesota, defeated. Worse, her ...

Read Beyoncé’s Heartfelt Tribute To Michael Jackson

by 3 mins ago

By Maurice Bobb

Five years after his untimely death, Michael Jackson not only reigns as the King of Pop, but also as an artist that still continues to influence musicians everywhere.

That’s why Pop’s reigning queen, Beyoncé took time out to pen a heartfelt letter on her website to celebrate the man who served as her sonic blueprint.

Under the title “Inspiration Michael Jackson,” Bey posted a black and white photograph circa 1972 of the “Thriller” icon, with a four-paragraph edict dedicated to how the late singer shaped her as an artist.

MJ

When I was just starting out, my first producer used to make me listen to Michael Jackson’s live performance of “Who’s Loving You.” He would have me watch that for hours back to back to back.

What he wanted me to learn was his soul. You could hear his soul. And he was this little kid who hadn’t experienced love but he was a vessel. For whatever reason he could evoke more emotion than an adult. It was so raw and so pure. It was these little things that he did that were just swag. It’s something that’s God given.

Michael taught me that sometimes you have to forget technique, forget what you have on. If you feel silly, you have to go from the gut just let it go.

Michael Jackson changed me, and helped me to become the artist I am thank you Michael.

Love always,
B

G-Unit Is Getting Ready To Drop A Mixtape

by 35 mins ago

Can you believe it? It’s been over a week since G-Unit released their last song, “They Talked About Jesus.”

Not to worry.

The Unit’s recent run of new music — they’ve dropped four records since reuniting at the beginning of June — doesn’t sounds like it’s coming to a halt any time soon.

“G-Unit album will be late November, early December,” 50 Cent told Hartford’s Hot 93.7, confirming news he had revealed recently. But then he dropped this gem: “Mixtape is coming.”

Fif didn’t disclose any further details, but odds are we can expect him and his cohorts — Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, Tony Yayo and Kidd Kidd — on some of today’s most well-known records, giving them their own distinct twist.

We’re ready.

I'm serious about these snacks. Catch me @adamfleischer

Shawn Mendes’ ‘Life Of The Party’: Pregame Now With The Official Lyrics

by 1 hour ago

YouTube sensation Shawn Mendes has already gotten serious attention for his unique covers of hit songs on YouTube and Vine — covering everyone from Justin Bieber to Ed Sheeran — but now he’s ready to bring his fans an original song.

The 15-year-old Toronto native already has nearly 1.2 million fans onTwitter and is a top-followed musician on Vine — where he posts 6-second acoustic sessions covering popular acts. Earlier this year, Mendes caught attention and inked a deal with Universal Music Group subsidiary Island Records, and he’s even set to go on tour with Austin Mahone this summer.

At midnight, fans will get their first taste of what Mendes really has to offer with the release of his first original single, “Life of the Party.”

“It feels amazing. I’m so excited,” Mendes says. “I was always doing covers of other people’s songs, which know people like. But, I’m so nervous to see what my fans reactions are going to be.”

Although he’s written three new original songs for his upcoming EP, “Life of the Party” came from two writers in New York City.

“It felt really weird singing over someone else’s song when it wasn’t my own,” Mendes explains. But after listening to the track, he realized it was meant to be.

“It’s about being happy with yourself as an individual,” Mendes says. “There’s one line, ‘We don’t have to be ordinary,’ it really connected with me. Being 15 years old, there’s a ton of trouble ...
